The food is so far superior to any other restaurant in New York City .Ditto the service.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMtopsAs usual, Per Se was superb. Monotonous, isn't it?5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMTop of the LineWe were greeted and when we gave our name there was already someone assigned to bring us to the table. No looking it up in a book. Very attentive staff and down to earth but not overbearing. Head waiter already knew of our food allergies as we had told them when confirming reservations. Never felt rushed. Can get very expensive if you opt for the various supplements. Wine list is on an iPad and is 175 pages that range from a $75 half bottle to a $30,000 bottle. Be careful but do go there at least once. Superb!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMStunning flavoursRemarqable cpmbibation of flavours and fantastic way of serving. Definitly worth a trip!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGraduation dinnerMade a special occasion even more special and memorable5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMMemorablePricey? - yes
Amazing? - yes
Worth it? - absolutely!5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food- #1 Restaurant in NYC!Per se was the best restaurant we ate at during our stay in NYC. Every dish tasted amazing and they were all presented impeccably. The staff are all accommodating and are knowledgeable.
Would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves good food!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA great experienceMy mother and I decided to combine the celebration of my birthday and Mother's Day at Per se, it was an excellent experience from start to end.
We were very pampered by the wait staff, and they were very knowledgeable, we had a few questions about the food, they were able to answer on spot without having to check with the kitchen.
The one thing I wish I had known before I went was that the Tasting Menu came with petit fours and chocolates and a lot of other delicate desserts. By the end of it we even have to turn down a few wonderful offers since there is such thing as too many good things. Next time I'd go at lunch hour and opt for fewer dishes in order to sample the desserts properly.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfection!Dining at Per Se was the high light of our annual NYC trip! It was so perfect: the staff, the view of Central Park and Columbus Circle. Each course was more magnificent than the last. It was a dining experience to be remembered long after all the desert course, surprises.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe wrong way to charge more moneyWhen we arrive we where told that in that section of the restaurant you need to consume a 9 course menu each person , although my nine year old daughter could not eat that much food , we ask them to seat us at the open meu card section they said it was full, after a while we realized that section was allmust empty , so the lied to us , the reazon the outreagous check of each 5 course menu as they allow us at the end 250 dlls each x 4 persons food was 1000 its self plus wine. I tjink thas not fair because some of us wanted tontry some dishes from the menu .5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFine dining at a pricePer Se did not disappoint. The food was exquisite, the service exceptional and the atmosphere was lovely. The only problem is getting a reservation. 30 days in advance, if you are lucky. Also, you may have to mortgage your house when the bill comes.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMVoila!Service
As a new dining experience, any first-time patron settles into the chair, glances around at the view and leans into the drink order. Champagne was ordered and the service started and continued to be stiffly formal throughout the rest of the evening, never catering to our table's personality from the onset. Attentive but missteps occurred as wine glasses remained empty far too long.
Amuse des bouches were light and appealing. The salt presentation of 6 different types alongside the foie gras was superfluous, better to offer a few choices that are dramatically different. Who can tell me that Utah Salt is better than Fleur de Sel?
The vegetarian tasting was exceptional with heightened flavors teased by the kitchen.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a lovely time! MaybeHad a lovely time! Maybe all of the hype made our expectations too high, but we expected a more inspirational and unique assembly of dishes. While nothing was a major down fall, there wasn't a dish that was incredible. Expected this to be the best meal of our lives, but while it was good, others have been better. At least it was all about the food and not about the performance/showmanship of delivering the food4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Service ! Great foodGreat Service ! Great food ! The food was far and away the best I have ever eaten. The service was polite, helpful and extremely attentive. The wine list includes most anything a person would want.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMImpeccable and impressiveImpeccable and impressive as it should be! Extraordinary service and overall a great evening that was worth the money spent. Thanks.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThree hours memorably spentWe'd been wanting to try Per Se for a few years, but didn't get around to it right away - and yes, that was at least partly because of the daunting pricetag.
Once we'd gotten a course or two into the tasting menu, every trace of that concern had faded into complete irrelevance.
Bites ranged from hearty and merely absolutely excellent to a few of those transcendent food experiences you'll remember for years.
I'll always be happy with the former; if I'm treated to even one of the latter, I count myself lucky. And this time there were at least two of those remarkable bites, for me: the "Oysters and Pearls", apparently a perennial Per Se favorite and a tour de force of subtlety and technique; and the wagyu beef, which was allowed to s4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMSpectacular MealFrom the greeting at the entry to the final words of departure, the service at Per Se is simply stunning. Someone there to help and advise all the way but without being intrusive and over bearing Very very genuine.
The food is wonderful. Some unorthodox sounding compilations of flavours on the menu turned into an amazing sensory experience on the palate. This is a Three Michelin Star restaurant and it is easy to see why. Each plate presented perfectly, and the interesting little morsels served here and there in the meal made for great taste surprises.
An extremely comprehensive wine list was well cataloged and easy to understand.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent experience. LivesExcellent experience. Lives up to the hype, food & service was amazing, private room and view to die for!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMI expected a lot from a ThomasI expected a lot from a Thomas Keller Restaurant and Per Se did not disappoint. Every course was picture perfece and extremely tasty. It was pure theater! I loved the baby veggies (radish, carrot). My sister, who is not a "foodie," said it was the best meal she EVER had (in her life!). You can't get any better than that. The service was impeccable. I thought we had a person server with all the attention "Bobby" gave us. All of the other staff (who shall remain nameless) were very attentive, too. We even got a tour of the kitchen and a copy of the menu. Wine pairings were excellent, too. Thanks you so much for a great mid-day meal.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMIncredibleQuite honestly -- the most unbelievable food I've ever eaten. If you get a reservation, you HAVE to go.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMHeavyweight champion of good foodWe came to NYC from Australia to experience the best cuisine from the street to the Michelin.
Pound for pound Per Se was the most unbelievable experience.
If you only experience this once in life it should be done!
Brilliant service, fantastic ambiance and setting and food which doesn't pretend to bat above its average!
A must in life is Per Se3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWithout doubt the best restaurantWithout doubt the best restaurant in New York, period. Outrageously expensive but worth it. Service was perfect.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food here lived up toThe food here lived up to all the hype. We did the lunch pre-fix tasting menu for $185/pp. Worth every penny and then some. Compared to the dinner menu this is a steal, at 5-plates it was the perfect pre-theater amount of food and we couldn't imagine having another 4. The service was outstanding, they make you feel like you are the only one in the restaurant. Incredible views of Central Park from the Time Warner Building. When we were there it was snowing outside and they had the fireplace inside on. I can't wait to go back.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMA real food experience. GreatA real food experience. Great view and great food.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMSadly I lost a pill box whichSadly I lost a pill box which was v dear to me @ it was not found. There just was no other place I opened my bag so I had to hv lost it at per se. Other than that the evening was superlative although we found the food much heavier than the French Laundry experienced 3 weeks earlier. The desserts and extra sweet dishes were SO lovely that it seemed a crime not to be able to eat them as we were SO full. So only criticism is perhaps too many dessert additions and some courses needed to be a bit lighter.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was great! VeryEverything was great! Very tasty and delicious
many thanks3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMPer Se Exceeded my high expectationPer Se Exceeded my high expectations. This was the most delicious meal with the most sincere and attentive service. James was a psychic, he knew what he needed before asking, such as my obsession with ice and little ottomans for our purses. Alexandra and Theresa were so sweet in answering all of our questions.A couple in our group were late and the staff was so nice about it. It is supposed to be 9 courses but they bring you other goodies. There aren't enough characters for me to get into the chocolates, just wow. Per Se is not a gem but a treasure. The flowers, the decor, the ambiance were all supreme. It is worth the time, travel and money. The only down side, how can we ever eat anywhere else?3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Best I've HadThe experience exceeded expectations. Food was amazing, and the standard of service set the new high bar.
