A word from Per Se
Per Se, the much-anticipated restaurant from renowned chef Thomas Keller, debuted in February 2004 in the Time Warner Center complex at Columbus Circle. With striking views of Columbus Circle and Central Park, the dining room is a rare blend of open space and easy intimacy, discreet drama and understated luxury. Offering a 64-seat dining room, a 10-seat private dining room, a lounge, a bar and wine cellar, all presented in a palette of warm neutrals and natural elements, Per Se will refine and redefine the dining experience.

For dinner, Per Se offers two prix fixe tasting menus for $310; a 9 course Tasting of Seasonal Vegetables or the 9 course Chef’s Tasting Menu, which changes daily. We also offer a five, seven and nine-course menu during lunch on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for $205, $245 and $310 respectively.

Food was wonderful. Service was perfect. We were high maintenance as included in our foursome was a pregnant woman and a gluten free man--but the food and service were seamlessly adjusted to meet their needs. Our lead server was personable and made us feel at home. Our evening ended with a tour of the kitchen. Great night!

We were fortunate to eat at The French Laundry last September. I wondered how this experience would compare, and there was no let down. Exceptional food, service, and atmosphere. Vegetables flown in from the gardens in Yountville, Oysters and Pearls of the same caliber, and some whimsical touches on desert, such as the Purple Cow. We were treated generously, ordered the Chefs Tasting Menu, and I could not give a higher recommendation.

  • An Amazing Treat!!!

We had a special birthday dinner here for my husband. From start to finish this place is over the top (and so is the price at $310 per person fixed price plus extras and wine but well worth it for a special treat!). The menu was made especially for us with a birthday message on the top. We had the 9 course fixed price menu which was more like 15 courses. From caviar to fine chocolates, with lobster and faux gras in between the food never stopped coming. Small and tasty portions. The wine selections amazing. The staff impeccable. They even provided a small stool for my purse. On the way out they prepared a gift bag of treats to take with us. The entire evening was like a beautiful dream. Loved the atmosphere.

I took my niece to New York to celebrate her graduation from her culinary arts program, and we could not have chosen a better restaurant for this event than Per Se! We had the vegetarian tasting menu, and they had adjusted each dish and made some especially for her as she is a vegan. Each dish was complex and full of different flavors and textures, and my niece later said it was the best meal she had ever had in her life. Her going away present of vegan chocolate truffles was also appreciated. They invited her back to see the kitchen, and she was amazed at what they could accomplish in such a small space. Service was attentive, but not intrusive--I have never seen such a fabulous front of house team.

I was really looking forward to this dinner. I have been to many great restaurants around the world. I even had lunch at per se many years ago and it was good. I found the experience here to be uninspiring on so many levels. The food - well its fine but not a single dish out of the 9 courses (really more like 6 courses with several sort of courses) was inspiring in anyway with perhaps the exception of the keller signature oysters and pearls. The wagyu beef which we paid and extra 135 or something dollars for was overcooked in my opinion. After 1700 dollars for 2 which including - also in my humble opinion - several poor selections of wine from the sommelier. The decor matched the food quite well - dated, dull, ponderous.

Everything was wonderful at Per Se. First time visiting, but the service was prompt, informative, and attentive without being over. I felt like a favorite customer. We were seated at a nice table overlooking Columbus Circle. Food was impeccable and everything you'd expect of the great Thomas Keller - there was even a carrots dish I loved (i normally abhor carrots). Can't recommend it more.

I cannot say enough to give Per Se due justice! The food, service, ambience, view, comfort wine selection, etc., etc., was fantastic! I enjoyed the evening with my girlfriend and I don't believe that I have experienced a nicer evening out enjoying a wonderful dining experience in which Per Se made it all possible! I would like to take this time to acknowledge Per Se for an exceptional dining experience in which I look forward to returning back soon with my girlfriend and others, knowing deservingly that Per Se should accentuate their P for their achievement of Perfection!

Waited a long time to go here but was so disappointed. A complete rip off. The "Prix Fixe" menu was anything but. Most items were an additional supplements. Is it possible that the Legendary Mr Keller does not know the translation of prix Fixe!!!! The staff were also unable to provide wine by the glass to compliment each course. They did, however offer half bottles of wine, each half bottle they offered cost 330 USD!! I have no problem paying large some of money for the privelege of tasting the work of an outstanding Chef, but why the shakedown on the drinks? Total rip off. The food is good, but not the wow experience I would have hoped for. Very Disappointing and not worth it.

Had 9-couse tasting menu at lunch. About half the French-influenced courses were very good (Oyster and Pearls, quail, lamb, scallops) and server was very generous with the $175-supplement truffles. Foie gras was disappointing and served with overly-sweet accompaniments. But the end of the meal took a bizarre turn from French-influenced to American kiddie menu. After a palate-cleanser of ice cream with a grape soda foam, here must have been six or seven desserts presented in sequence, not as menu choices: donut holes, macaroons, nougats and caramels, another couple tastes of ice cream, hand-made chocolates... and finally, a box of Per Se cookies to take home. Memory of the courses I enjoyed faded into a sugar high that lasted into night

The view over Columbus Circle & across the park entertained us during a cocktail from the iPad menu, but the lovely view is quickly forgotten when the chef's tasting menu is placed in your hand. Brian & the team of servers provided friendly, informative and incredibly attentive service that put us at ease when facing the adventurous and flawlessly constructed dishes. While irresistible, don't get carried away with bread, butter & salt or you might not make through all the courses and that would be a shame. We loved absolutely everything about our experience.

Before my friend and I went to Per Se, we joked that we'd never be able to go back to "normal food" afterwards. By the end of the evening we were in agreement: while Per Se is certainly a restaurant, the point of the meal was not to provide something so delicious it makes everything bland in comparison, but to make a statement through food. It was an opera for the tongue. Each dish said something, not only through how it tasted, but through it's visual presentation. The evening was a story, woven together for us. The service was, as we'd heard it would be, perfect. The room quiet with an occasional laugh. We spent about six hours in the restaurant, and we were in the moment for every second of it. Per Se is about everything food can be.

Michelin 3 Stars. Certainly a very good establishment but not the best based on our 10/2/14 experience. Service could have been a little more consistent. $310 per person including service but could run up to $500 with the optional supplements. The proprietor Thomas Keller is regarded as one of the most talented chef in the US but his absence really shows that night.

Though it is expensive, it is extraordinary both in the quality and preparation of the food and in the excellence of the service. We arrive before our reservation time and waited in the lounge area in front of a huge window overlooking Central Park. We enjoyed two delicious cocktails until our exact time came and we were conducted to our very fine table. The ambiance, light, color, atmosphere, everything was delightful, perfect. Immediately they offered us two cups of champagne and the nicest surprise was seeing my name printed in the fine menu. I chose the vegetables menu and my husband chose the meat one. Both were outstanding. At the end we were offered with a delicate piece of dessert with a white candle to privately sing happy birthday. Also we were invited to greet the sous chef in the impeccable kitchen.Unforgettable experience.I would go there 10 more times.

We had very high expectations but sadly it was not fulfilled. We were hoping for loads more from a 4 Michelin Star restaurant after trying many 1,2 and 3 Michelin star places but Per Se disappointed. Service was wonderful but could not compensate for the averagely good food. It was definitely a fancy place, from the crowd, ambiance and general mood of the place so not recommended if you want to go with friends/family for a night out with lots of chatting. We already had a chance to go other Thomas Keller's restaurants and as usual the execution is impeccable. We loved the French Laundry and Per Se is just as amazing. The food is spectacular and the wine list extraordinary. The service was very good, but it could have been a little less rushed. Some soft music in the background could help the ambiance. Other than this minor things, it was absolutely magical! chef Keller may your passion continue to amaze us!

Every item at PerSe has been reduced to its lovely essence but not the meal itself, which was an exercise in excess. It was lovely, but it was an ordeal. We would go back for a three to five course menu, but never again for the nine. I would travel quite a distance for the exquisite melon gazpacho, the scallops, the wagyu beef and of course the oysters and pearls. But the entirety of the experience has not been considered. Each separate step refutes the notion that more is better and instead embraces clarity and decisiveness, but not the menu as a whole which it seems ain't ever seen an idea that needed to be cut out. Never thought I'd be saying this:don't do it. Don't go. Or go and have the a la carte items until you are happy. Then stop.

Per Se was the first Michellin three star restaurant that I went and the dining experience was exquisite. I don't have to say that the food were great but the top notch service that we received was just special. It was professional but comfortable, helpful at the same time precise. I do not usually like to go to a very expensive restaurant that has a dress code but for the Per Se the well-dressed suit is just right for the professionalism that I see from both kitchen and service. Per Se is a great restaurant that I would recommend to everyone for a special occasion and if you decide to go here regardless of the high price, enjoy every moment here because it will be very special.

What can I say? The service is impeccable, yet the servers are all extremely nice -- not a snob among them. They accommodate every issue -- one of our party can't eat tomatoes, so they made him a gorgeous watermelon "tartare" instead of the heirloom tomato salad. It was a little more food than I wanted, but can't imagine foregoing any of the courses. And excellent wines. Of course, the price is what the price is, but what do you expect? I described it to my husband as "the equivalent of dinner and theatre," or maybe "dinner as theatre." An evening to remember.
