A word from Per Se
Per Se, the much-anticipated restaurant from renowned chef Thomas Keller, debuted in February 2004 in the Time Warner Center complex at Columbus Circle. With striking views of Columbus Circle and Central Park, the dining room is a rare blend of open space and easy intimacy, discreet drama and understated luxury. Offering a 64-seat dining room, a 10-seat private dining room, a lounge, a bar and wine cellar, all presented in a palette of warm neutrals and natural elements, Per Se will refine and redefine the dining experience.




For dinner, Per Se offers two prix fixe tasting menus for $310; a 9 course Tasting of Seasonal Vegetables or the 9 course Chef’s Tasting Menu, which changes daily. We also offer a five, seven and nine-course menu during lunch on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for $205, $245 and $310 respectively.

  • "Booked per se, bernadin and eleven madison park for the last NY trip and expected all to be at the same level, was terribly disappointed with per se. The food itself was too salty in general and not memorable in flavours, waiters showed rudeness when criticized (although there was a few that was very friendly, the 2 rude waiters tending to our table just dragged it down), food was overpriced (around double the other fine dining restaurants). They didn't have a proper wine pairing but they chose a few half-bottles that went throughout the dinner. food plus wine ended up being about 700 dollars per person. Also, not a fan of how they include the service in the price without breaking it down, and just wrote 'service included'. so tricky!"

  • "Despite all the hype, we really had no specific expectations except it would be a treat to dine here - and it was. Food was incredible with such intense flavors and unexpected combinations; each successive course amazingly better than the last one. I am not a steak person but the beef course was my absolute favorite, perfectly seasoned and medium-rare with a morrel I've never had the pleasure to eat before. Least favorite was the cheese course of goat "cheesecake" as the texture was not to my liking. Service is the best I've ever experienced, better than French Laundry, tho that was 14 years ago. Wine suggestions were on point, enhancing the dishes very well. Overall, a wonderful and memorable dining experience."

  • "Of course the food was sublime. The view, heaven over earth. But the service....OUTSTANDING! Attentive yet subdued. Quiet and stealth. Serreptitious in a good way. Courteous, warm and connected. These aren't the snobbish, dramatically breathless waiters who describe every morsel on your plate (including it's sourcing) in excruciating, conversation-squelching detail.(a little take home booklet with those details are provided in your goody bag). We had a time constraint. Yes, we were aware it was a 9 course meal. But our wait staff was relaxed and accommodating. The meal was served beautifully and paced perfectly. (Kudos to the kitchen on that as well). Per se feels like you're relaxing with friends while being treated like royalty. Thanks."

  • "Compared to Bouchon, where I have had several excellent meals, Per se was a bit of a let down. While everything was well cooked, carefully prepared and beautifully presented, the overall impression left on me was one of lack of clarity. I think in general, having had several "less than" experiences with tasting menus, that at least for me, tasting menus are just not the way to go. Too many different foods that do not digest well together. I think that the era of the tasting menu is going to be over soon, and that is a good thing..."

  • "Despite difficulties in landing a reservation (for 2 impossible, but for 4 obtainable) it was worth it. The restaurant lived up to its hype. The 5-course lunch tasting (especially because there are an equal number of dessert courses) was more than enough food even with delicate serving sizes. The food itself was imaginative without being too cute. The service was welcoming, not stuffy. Kudos to Andy the helpful sommelier and the other wait staff. The room is lovely, with generous spacing between tables to allow for conversation, and simple decor that is elegant and clever (note the laundry symbols on the lampshades) but doesn't overpower the purpose of a restaurant - food and socializing."

Incredibly accomodating and pleasant staff (there are about 2 waiters per person). Don't fill up on the delivious bread - save some room for the 4 dessert courses!!"

  • "Great overall experience, superb service and surroundings. Tasting menu starts off great but fizzles a bit at the end. Not that anything was bad, by any stretch of the imagination - but maybe my expectations were too high. The wagyu they servied for a $1oo. supplement was terrific but you will have to decide for yourself if an extra 1.5 oz is worth the money. Dessert is weak compared with the rest of the meal, and the wafers in a little carrying case presented at the end could have been from Stop and Shop."

Right away, we relished that they had printed the menus with my wife's name and birthday---making it feel personal. Throughout, the waiters and sommelier were attentive and professional while staying personable and down-to-earth. We savoured each delectable course (!), and while we spent hours chatting so we were the last to leave, we never felt pressured. With beautiful views over the park, and generously spaced tables, the restaurant is conducive to romance, business or friendly reunions commemorating a special occasion. Of course, the tab is steep (gulp) and the food is plentiful (I'm still working it off), and worth it!"

The ambiance is wonderful, service is top knotch. I was very impressed by the sommlier, I had a larger table so we were able to do more bottles than when I was just with my husband, they were fantastic and had amazing recommendations. The preparation of each item is so impressive, everything is cooked so wonderfully. The langostines are one of the greatest things I have ever eaten. I highly recommend this as a special occasion meal or anytime you wish to have a truly memorable meal."

  • "My husband has been wanting to go to Per Se since before we moved to NYC so I finally managed to get a reservation to celebrate his birthday. (Bonus: got the reservation for ON his birthday!) The only available spot on OpenTable was for the very first seating at 5:30pm so we got to watch the sky turn to night and the city lights come on as we made our way through the 9 amazing courses. In the notes on my OpenTable reservation I mentioned that it was Hubby's birthday and they printed us special menus with "Happy Birthday Andrew" at the top which they also gave us to take home. The food was phenomenal, as one expects, but it was the attention to small details like that which made the experience even better!"

The waiter gave wrong explanation about the food, forgot to bring out our drink, and when he did bring it out, he had his finger touching the ice in the bucket. He wasn't even friendly and just an amateur. I believe people expect an experience when going to these kind of restaurants and our waiter just didn't deliver that. There are other 3 star restaurants that do better than this one. Very disappointing. I wouldn't recommend if you are looking for a special evening."

  • "Valentine's Day lunch at Per Se: never failing but to be thrilled by the confidence and poise of the welcoming staff and the necessity of simply letting it all unfold like a fabulous meringue. Three hours of undisguised gourmet-greed, continuous murmurs of appreciation and surprise as further flavours were detected as we savored raw oysters in lemon mustard egg crème with truffle, hot light pastries with cheese centres, succulent sweet butter, meaty rich poulet et l'agneau entrees; desserts were more light than dark with chocolate taking a back seat in favor of meringues and various crèmes. Divine. Then the small basket of truffles and chocolates to take home which we devoured all weekend. One of the great, great eating experiences."

Uniquely delicious food, gracious and warm service, elegant decor and unusual thoughtfulness - they called me the day before the reservation to ask if we were celebrating a special occasion and ask if anyone had food allergies. I told them it was my father's birthday and they asked for hs name. I was surprised to see that our menus had birthday wishes and his name at the top (and they modified the menu to adapt for our one lactose intolerant guest). I have been to other michelin 3-star restaurants and grandes tables du monde on multiple continents, but this experience was distinguished even among those. Just sublime."

  • "Per Se raises the bar among great restaurants. Its menu changes daily and the creativity, skill in execution, and attention to detail is extraordinary. For example, their butter is sourced from one farm in Vermont that makes butter only for Per Se and its brother restaurant French Laundry. We are vegetarians and the creativity in presenting and plating dishes for vegetarians makes, for us, a restaurant par excellence. There was one risotto and truffle dish that was simply sublime. I could have enjoyed at least two more. Another carrot dish was wrapped in a pretzel brioche like a beef wellington. Everyone has heard how wonderful this restaurant is, experiencing it brings you to another echelon."

Yes, the prices tilt to the upper end, but the price includes service (likely, you will want to add something more for your servers).
