We went on valentines night. Even
though we had a reservation, the host was very overwhelmed by the number of people, and was seating walk-ins before people with reservations, almost in a first come fist serve basis - which nullifies the point of having a reservation. The food - was just ok. We both got the steak, which came with brocolli rabe and potatoes. I've had better."

Had dinner here on Valentine's
Day, the food was great, the service was quick, onobtrusive, and attentive. The only downside was that the place was so popular, getting to and from our table was difficult and its was very loud, so conversation was difficult. Overall, it was a great night."

I had never eaten here, after
walking by numerous times, so I made a reservation for Valentines Day, on a whim. It may have been a particularly busy evening, but there is nowhere for patrons to wait other than around the tables where people are eating, so that took points off of the ambiance. The food and service were fine. For a local restaurant, I want something that is either particularly good, or decent at a reasonable price. I thought this was overpriced for what it was, but that may have been Valentines Day special pricing which was not reflected as such on the menu. Not memorable. Overall, I'd say it's a good slightly overpriced local joint, with nothing notable about it."

Hadn't been in a while, but found
the food and service as good as I remembered. Service is friendly and efficient. Food is very, very good and the ambience of the restaurant, lovely. I highly recommend. While the basic menu is great, with many choices and moderate by New York standards, specials can be a bit pricey, but of high quality and delicious. I had the Branzino and it was delicious, if a bit pricey."

What a darling restaurant! Open
and light during the day, and sophisticated for the evening. Beautiful crowd, great food, lovely service. Outdoor dining during the spring is fun. Lurve the desserts !"

The food was very good and
everyone of us enjoyed it. The service was fine, not perfect but we never wanted for anything very long. The noise level was unacceptable to us. We asked on 4 separate occasions to please turn the music down so we could have a conversation instead of a shouting contest. One issue was one of the speakers to the music system was right over our heads. Other than that we liked the place and would probably visit again, just a different table."

I had the Osso Bucco and ordered
several sides of vegetables. Everything was excellent. My wife and I splurged on a very high-end bottle of wine since all wines over $50 are 50% off on Monday and Tuesday nights. Great experience!"
Dined on 11/19/2013
A pretty place. The music was a
little loud a first, but seemed toned down later. I had a pasta dish with mussels which was delicious and my husband had the striped bass. Service was good."

It was a quiet monday efening
dinner but per lei hosted us graciously and the food was very good."

I booked this restaurant after
searching budget restaurants of $$ (under $30) at UES and found this one. However the entries of steak and the special bronzino fish are $36 and $38 . The worst thing is when the bill came, the fish became $40. But I didn't want to argue about the $2 in front of my friend from China, so I just paid it though shocked and uncomfortable. The waiters seemed nice, but over attentive. They kept on trying to take the plates away for several times when my friend was still working on it. t We felt very unwelcome, so we left quickly. I think opentable should investigate their menu and check out their price, and re-categorize them to the correct list. Definitely not $$."

Nice intimate space like dining in
a private event. Lights so dim that some of us had hard time reading the menu. Enjoyed the chocolate papardelle duck ragu and my husband liked his choice of veal ravioli. To my disappointment, the rucola salad had only traces of gorgongola cheese and no pistachios, as was described in the menu."

First time here, Loved Baronda, so
I wanted to give this a try. The food &, service were perfect. The lighting and music make the place complete. The place has a vibe. THIS PLACE IS ON TIME!! Loved it,"
Dined on 9/22/2013
Can't wait for the 2nd avenue
construction to be over so the outside space will have a prettier view."
Dined on 9/20/2013
This was the first time in my life
I walked out of a restaurant!! There was no one at the restauatant and we waited a half an hour until someone came by. When they did, they couldn't even get orange juice and iced coffee correct! I was with two other friends and we were really disappointed and will not be returning there ever again. For the high prices they charge, their service was horrible!"
Dined on 9/7/2013
The food was very tasty; it is a
cool place, very cool decorated; excellent service. I had a late dinner I don't know if that affected that it was a little bit empty. But definitely delicious food and very chic-romantic."
Dined on 9/7/2013
Enjoy the little outdoor space.
Service friendly and prompt. Food tasty. Been there several times and will keep going back."
Dined on 8/25/2013
Words cannot describe how
wonderful the wine, the food and the music is as well as the wonderful servers. My friend and I were able to talk and never wanted for anything. The food was delectable."
Dined on 8/3/2013
I was here for brunch. I was
excited to try this place and I wanted to like it so much for its location and outdoor seating but the food was bland. I had the frittata and my bf had the steak which was tiny. The place is beautiful, maybe I would come back for a drink but not for the food."
Dined on 7/21/2013
Friendly service, good quality
food. They have wine special on Mondays and Tuesdays for 1/2 off any bottle priced $50 or more."
Dined on 7/27/2013
Highly recommended. Great food and
excellent service. Good portions as well. Will definitely be back for the duck!"
Dined on 7/20/2013
The food for brunch was very good
and the service was excellent and friendly."
Dined on 7/21/2013
Food was OK, but somewhat over
priced for the portions. Service was inattentive for the few customers that were dining there considering there were 10 servers on the floor talking and texting among themselves. service"
Dined on 7/20/2013
The tall glass door kept slamming
shut! If I worked there that would be fixed in 5 minutes. Very distracting during lunch. The chicken my wife ordered was tough and a bit stringy. My pasta with Bolognese sauce was very good. We shared cheese cake for desert and it was excellent. The food was uninspired. It could have been better."
Dined on 7/9/2013
Went for a special birthday. Hmmm
used to be one of my favorites but something changed or was wrong that night. There wasn't one thing that anyone in my party had that tasted like it has in the past. Different chef? New menu? Who knows. The service left much to be desired also. We ordered prosecco for a toast then wines for dinner. They were all served at the same time. There was a general lack of interest in serving our party of 10 and it was a special occasion. Very disappointing. And it was not busy so that was no excuse."
Dined on 6/15/2013
Highly recommend! The gluten free
pasta is scrumptious...had to verify it was gluten free with the chef because it was so delicious and tasted like regular pasta. Chicken Milanese was fantastic and very fresh. Very friendly and attentive wait staff. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. Will certainly return and will definitely recommend to friends. Don't let the Second Ave construction stop you from eating at Per Lei!"
Dined on 7/3/2013
Service was not good. Started off
& then never saw server again, had to keep chasing down someone. Not the first time the service has been off."
Dined on 6/29/2013
I have a palate that is accustomed
to well-seasoned good food that is prepared with love. I personally found my dish to be all of that and thensome. This is my second time to Per Lei and I will keep coming back. Really well done Italian food prepared with great flavor and superb service."
Dined on 6/17/2013
Went on a beautiful Summers day.
Bottle of wine perfectly chilled. I had eggs Benedict with lobster. My friend had eggs with crab and avocado. We enjoyed our meal. Breeze was nice. Service was professional and friendly. Lively way to spend an afternoon."
Dined on 6/16/2013
Went to Nello and to Per Lei both
on the same day. Per Lei was by far the better of the two. Less pretentious, less pushy, more warm, more welcoming. And half the price. Forget Nello. Got to Per Lei."
Dined on 6/16/2013
We had a fine lunch in the lovely
outdoor seating area. Service excellent. Unfortunately, the noise level was high from 2nd Ave traffic and subway construction. They can't help that."
Dined on 6/4/2013
My friend and I were in search of
a nice dinner outside- we love in Weeat Village and had no idea where to go. Per Lei hit the spot. Great ambience- a little loud, bu it was rather late and there was a large party next to us. We were greeted warmly by the host who seats us right away. Our waitress was borderline clueless but very sweet. We actually never saw her unless she was asking if we were ok. Our host was our go to guy- he picked out a great wine for us and helped us w food decisions- he was spot on w recommendations. It was an incredible meal and we'll certainly be coming back."
Dined on 6/1/2013
We enjoyed the food. On Mondays
and Tuesdays there are half of bottles of wine, which was wonderful. The waiter was helpful and let us know about this deal. The ambiance was very dark and modern. Overall good. I would definitely go back, but didn't make my favorite restaurants list."
Dined on 5/29/2013
We had a nice experience with
Francesco tonight. A cozy corner booth amid the wall portraits was perfect for us. Our pasta dishes were exxcellent as was the dessert sorbet."
Dined on 5/18/2013
Another great meal at Per Lei. My
wife had spaghetti and I had the tagliatelle with mushrooms. Fabulous! Then finished it with some great cheesecake."
Dined on 5/13/2013
I thought an Italian restaurant
was deemed authentic if it had: Italian waitstaff and Italian patrons. That must have been a COMPLETE lie. I brought my mother and father here for Mother's Day. We ordered 2 items off the Mother's Day special menu, one off the regular menu and a "chopped salad." All of the dishes were exceptionally boring. The salad was was not chopped and had absolutely no taste. The eggplant parmigiana was okay, but there was barely one piece of eggplant. The frittata was dry and cold and the chicken "panino" was a single piece of not thoroughly cooked chicken thrown between two slices of bread and not pressed or warmed at all. Overall, entirely dull and a boring Mother's Day brunch for my anything-but-boring mother."
Dined on 5/12/2013
I enjoyed the atmosphere in this
smallish Italian bistro but was very disappointed by a tasteless salad..the Branzino was excellent and I would have given a higher rating had it not been for the salad, Also the bread could have been better."
Dined on 5/9/2013
Very good food always. Veal
Milanese, a regular special, is tops and is offered two ways. Other dishes and apps are worth the wait. Service is desultory and unskilled. If Per Lei has figured out how to make a tasty meal, why can't they figure out how to serve it in a professional and timely way?"
Dined on 5/7/2013
The ricotta pancakes are very
great and the brunch menu is amazing. I went here twice and the pancakes were amazing both times. My friends also liked going here for brunch and enjoyed their sandwiches."
Dined on 3/30/2013
Thoroughly enjoyed my dinner last
night. The waiter was excellent."
Dined on 3/19/2013
The food is good but the service
is terrible every time I go."
