A word from Peppercorns Grill
Peppercorn’s Grill and Piccolo Arancio are owned and operated by the Cialfi siblings, Sal, Dino, Tina, and Rosa. Brothers Sal and Dino purchased Peppercorn's Grill in 1989 and they, along with younger sisters Tina and Rosa opened Piccolo Arancio in 1994. This generation of Cialfi's has added modern creativity and personality to traditional strengths of their Italian upbringing.
Sal and Dino were trained in the art of Italian food at their uncle's restaurant in Rome. When their uncle felt that the two brothers education was complete, he helped them open their own restaurant in Rome, Piccolo Arancio and became internationally acclaimed within their first year. Now operated by their cousins, Piccolo Arancio remains near the Trevi Fountain in Rome.
Both restaurants produce award-winning cuisine and continue to receive high honors and awards. This may Marked the 10th consecutive year the both Peppercorn's Grill and Piccolo Arancio received the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence

  • "Having been a little over a year ago with my friend and loving it, I had wanted to go back. This time my meal was nothing to write home about. I went back with my boyfriend this time. We started with fried artichoke and mozz stuffed zucchini blossoms- not worth the $13 they were asking for them. He got the lasagna bolognese and I the Veal two ways. His was to have veal in the lasagna and it ended up being a tasteless portion of lasagna accompanied by a veal cutlet layered with vinaigrette marinated field greens and red onions topped with soggy croutons. Mine a perfectly fall off the bone tender osso bucco that tasted like nothing and veal#2 Saltimbocca yet where was my prosciutto? It was only grilled pieces of veal tenderloin. All bland."

  • "We had a 730 reservation and got seated a little late. Once we got seated it took another 20 minutes until we got menus since they didn't have enough. The restaurant was half full when we got seated. Food was decent except service definitely needs a revamping."

I had the Bass...very good..my favorite food here is the Chilean Sea Bass...I worship that meal...!!! Our server was terrific...I cannot remember her name but she is Irish and treated us like royalty...!!!"

The food and service were both outstanding. I had the bucatini pasta special and my husband had the gnocchi special - both were delicious. They also provided a delicious birthday cake. The prices were very reasonable and the entire staff was accommodating to our every need. I would highly recommend Peppercorns Grill for a romantic night out or a special occasion!"

  • "I have been to Peppercorns many times over the years and have always has a great experience. This time was a bit different and I am not sure if it had to do with the fact I used a Living Social Deal for Lunch. The waitress was terrible! And the first meal I ordered was not at all what I would expect from the quality of food I have experienced in the past. I ordered the Bolognese and it was no more than a tomato sauce with a tiny bit of ground beef. The waitress argued with me and it took a long time to get a replacement meal. No apologies. I tipped on the full at 20% and still the waitress never said thank you or any apologies. "

  • "We had a very enjoyable evening at Peppercorns. We did use a GROUPON and they were very reciptive that we had one. Dinner was a little pricey but we did have cocktails, appetizer and dessert with our dinner. I had the veal chop which was excellant, my husband had the special Bass which he liked very much. Our waitress suggested Lobster ravioli for an appitizer which was excellant. We would go back but for a special occasion since we did spend a few dollars. Just for someones information, it is not your typical Italian fare, They have different menu items, which is a good thing to me."

  • "We had tickets at the Bushnell and made reservations at Peppercorn for 6. We were held up in traffic but they kept our reservations for us. We parked, walked down the Peppercorn, had a fantastic meal, good wine (plenty of choices) and then walked back to the Bushnell at 10 of 8- for an 8 pm show. My husband and I agree we will definitely be back-- maybe try outside next time. Don't hesitate to eat here! "

  • "The food is still very good and it was a pleasant surprise that they had free off street parking immediately adjacent to the restaurant. The staff was pleasant and there seemed to be a sufficient number available, but they basically ignored our Open Table request that we needed to be out by 7PM (we reserved for 5:15PM and were there on time) to make the theater across town, even when we pointed this out to the waiter since it took exceptionally long to get our order taken. First he needed to bring a 'specials' menu then to bring a bottle of prosecco was too long. we did not get out until 7:10PM and the theater lights were flashing for performance starting as we walked in the door. I would eat there again, but not when under a time limit."

  • "My girlfriend and I took a road trip from Long Island to Hartford Conn.to see a concert at the Bushnell PAC, I saw this restaurant on google maps when I was planning the trip , checked out its website and decided to give it a whirl before the concert and OMG ! This place has delicious food, we started with veal meatballs and fried calamari , had an asparagus salad that we shared , then I had a ribeye and she a veal chop. I highly recommend this place , the service was great , and ambience very nice."

  • "the first time i went to Peppercorn's it was for convenience. i don't know the Hartford area and i was attending an event at the Bushnell Theater and it was recommended. i was pleasantly surprised. the food was delicious, the wait staff was competent and friendly, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. and i love italian food!!! the buccatini was outstanding!! it is now my favorite "theater night" restaurant."

  • "This was our second visit for my wife and myself. Sometimes a first visit is the best experience but it seems that Peppercorn's continues to excell even more and reaches higher gastronomic limits. This time we decided to eat seafood. The halibut was very fresh and prepared to perfection. The housemade tagliolini with all kinds of seafood sang onto our taste buds. Of the appetizers were just as wonderful. We tried the mussel/clam appetizer and the pulpo (octopus). Wow, the chef being from Italy really knows how to work with seafood. All in all, a fantastic second experience. This is quickly becoming my wife's favorite restarant."

  • "Haven't been to Peppercorns in a few years. I'm very pleased that we decided to give it a try. The service was excellent, friendly and knowledgeable. The food was outstanding with a decent selection. Its focus is definitely Italian but does blend well into current cuisine. Had the ossobuco and it was prepared perfectly. Salads were fresh and had nice touches with thin slices of extremely small oranges. Overall we were very pleased and will return with friends when we go to the theater next time."

  • "I really like Peppercorns, as my earlier review states. But this time the kitchen seemed off. I brought a group of 8 to host a nationally renowned speaker after his talk. I noticed he didn't eat much of his bucatini, which saddened me. While my tonno siciliano affumicato vitello e polpo carpacciato was excellent, I was disappointed with my fettuccine alla bolognese con aragosta & will not order it again. Two other "regulars" in my group also expressed disappointment with the bucatini, and the salmon. Pro: the single malt selection is quite extensive, including ages not mentioned on the menu.Every kitchen can have an off night; after over a dozen times it was bound to happen. Too bad it happened on a night I was hoping to impress my guest."
