Diner Reviews
  • "My Wife and I went for our anniversary and had a great time. The food was great. The Lobster Bisque was the best that I have had yet. Almost lime on of my uncles use to make."

  • "We celebrated my birthday on July 4 on the patio. Best birthday ever! Craig was delightful, the Chilean sea bass was amazing, and the fireworks were the icing on my lava cake. This is one of my favorite places in San Diego."

  • "Ambience is nice, service is very good and friendly staff food is not favorable no taste and very bland. Overpriced for the quality and presentation of the meal. Good for a date night and drinks. Amazing view"

  • "The food and service where great and the view was just perfect. I would reccomend this restaurant to anyone. We where celebrating our one year anniversary and they even printed a message on our menus. That was just unexpected. Would definately dine here again"

  • "My husband and I ate at Peohe's during the July 4th weekend, so they were probably busier than usual. We were sat 15 minutes after our reservation. Our server brought warm bread, but took at least 10 minutes to bring the butter). We watched our food sit on the counter for at least 10 minutes under a heating lamp before it was brought to us. Although my coconut crusted prawns were lukewarm, the flavor of the shrimp and dipping sauce were good. My husband also enjoyed his king crab legs. The service took so long that we decided against ordering dessert."

  • "My husband and I were celebrating out anniversary with my brother and sister--in-law from out of town and could not have picked a better spot! The restaurant is on the water and the food was great! We all enjoyed everything about the evening--starting with cocktails outside on the patio to dessert watching the fireworks from the Pops concert. A beautiful evening!"

  • "G free & accommodating. Bring your own wine. Also brought my own g free soy sauce as they do not have that option. Always get fish and always know that I am going to have a great time at Peohes"

  • "Don't go! We waited an hour to get our food but never got our food as the waiter dropped it all on the floor. Never said I'm sorry what else can I get you just brought us a check for the drinks and appetizers we had ordered. We asked for a manager and she wasn't much better. Will not be going back there. Even with a reservation we had to wait 30 min to be seated and there were many empty tables. This place left a bad taste in our mouth. There are to many places to eat out to put up with this type of service. It's to bad for them as the menu looks good. After tallying others on Coronado they all said the same thing not the place to go service is the worst!"

  • "View of the bay was great however we were really disappointed with the quality of the plates considering the prices. We had visited this restaurant for the last 12 years and it has really taken a hit. Would not rate it anything above average. This is my first ever review on line for anything but felt compelled to alert any would be patrons to avoid it. Service was good but not enough to compensate for the poor quality items, it should be noted that we had a large party of 12 and all had different entres and ALL had the same impression without saying anything during dinner thinking it was just "my plate" that was below par. Sorry but no plans to return anytime soon."

  • "Pros: Beautiful view of the fireworks, harbor, and downtown skyline. Cons: Went on July 4th for dinner and fireworks. Made reservations two weeks prior to date and confirmed day before as well. Specifically asked if there was going to be parking at the restaurant (as the location makes it a very popular place to watch the fireworks). Staff assured me both times that parking would be available. Arrive at the restaurant at the designated time only to find that there was no parking available reserved for the restaurant patrons. After asking the staff what we should do, we ended up having to park at the Grand Del Mar and take a cab over (cost total $60). I can't believe that the restaurant was totally caught off guard with this issue."

  • "A 4th of July treasure! Took the ferry from San Diego, sat right on the waters edge. We enjoyed a gourmet meal and wonderful wine while ogling the Big Bay Boom, the barge was just beyond the restaurant. It was a fairy tale evening of freshness for all our senses."

  • "This was our 57th anniversary celebration. We chose Peohe's because of previous good experiences. We were not disappointed. All of our expectations were completely satisfied. The food and our server, Jacob, were excellent, and the experience enhanced by the marvelous view."

  • "Great views of Bay and good attentive service. Great food well presented and wide choice on the menu even for lunch. Prices were in line with the quality of the food, location and ambiance. While we were there for lunch, the menu for evening meal will take us back as the meal served was excellent both in preparation and presentation and the dinner menu read even better. Thoroughly recommended."

  • "Wanted to find someplace special for our 40th Anniversary - Peohe's has it all! The view of San Diego across the water as late afternoon turned to evening was nothing short of spectacular, and the food, well, just about perfect. The staff made us feel as if we were long time friends, which added to the ambiance and helped make it the perfect place for our romantic celebration. We'll be back!"

  • "Our experience here was okay. When we arrived we had out seat taken instantly, but it was very sunny where we were sitting we asked to be sat somewhere else but the greeter that lead us to our seats insisted on just rolling down the curtain. Immediately came Miley our server and was very helpful got us out drinks, appetizers, dinner order. But after that she was horrible at refilling our drinks she had to be reminded atleast twice. The food was okay. My fish was very dry & so was my mothers. I was dissapointed heard it was a a great place but wasn't good at all."

  • "This place is absolutely Incredible! From the location, to the view (downtown SD & at sunset), and of course, the amazing food/drinks! By far the Best Overall place I have ever had dinner. I highly recommend it to any/everyone! A must if you are visiting the San Diego area! 👍👍👍"

  • "I will return because the view is amazing. The food was good. The service was slow. I felt like I was putting my waiter out. My soup arrived warm and the dessert we order with dinner was still not ready way after we finished our dinner. This was disappointing because it was my husband's birthday."

  • "I was a little disappointed with the choice of food items. The ambiance was beautiful and our reservations were 15 minutes ahead of schedule, which was very nice. The small touch with the words, "Happy Anniversary" on our menu was also a nice surprise. We felt that the food was over priced and were a little shocked with the cost of our final bill. I don't think we'll go back again, sorry to say."

  • "ordered a prime rib sandwhich..WTF.....tasted like the night before left overs, dry and tuff, not prime rib more like over cooked roast beef, never again, told the waiter who by the way needs a personliity and a sense of humor if he wants to get a decent tip and why does a place like this, hire people who have no idea who to ineract with people.....helllooo that is what that job is all about, he a couple words..HE WAS SO BORING WE COULDNT STAND IT...the rest of the food was great, front desk people were very friendly which was nice, too bad the waiter wasnt....they did take the sandwich off the bill, it would have been nice if the manager could have dragged his/her butt over and aplogiozed something the waiter did not do"

  • "Had a reservation for 8 people for 6:30 PM. Our seating was fine. Drink orders and orders for appetizers came within a reasonable time. That's where it unravelled. At 8:20 PM, we still had not received our entries, had not seen our waiter, and drinks were empty. I went up front and asked to see the manager. The hostess called her and I waited for 10 minutes. No manager. Hostess said "she was busy on the phone". I told the hostess that I was upset but did not want the manager at my table and have a confrontation in front of my guests. Food was served at 8:30 PM. 2 hours!!! My wife's soup was tepid after she had specifically ordered it to be extra hot. Sent back. Others were mediocre. They comped the appetizers and dessert."

  • "Enjoyed dinner overlooking the bay and downtown San Diego. Peohe's highlight feature is fantastic views of the San Diego skyline and an option for outdoor patio dining. An absolutely beautiful place to dine. The main menu has a good variety of seafood and steaks plus they have a separate sashimi & sushi menu with some great roll creations. I enjoyed wonderful sushi while my friends ordered seafood entrees. One minor complaint was that we felt our waiter was trying to up-sell us on many extras and high priced options. I appreciate a sever making a few recommendations but this one was a bit over the top continuing to offer additional items with each course even after we had decided what we wanted."

  • "The inside of the restaurant is very pretty, view is great, food is good prices are high & staff is mediocre. If i pay for a high dollar meal, I have expectations that the service will be high-level as well. The waitstaff misunderstood our orders, and brought the wrong items to our table and did not wait and confirm that everybody was finished ordering. Also when I booked the reservation I noted celebrating a milestone birthday on open table, and mentioned this when I called to confirm reso and when we checked in. We arrived a 1/2 hr early, & requested not not to be seated in specific section of the restaurant & offered to wait if necessary. When seated, they seated us where we asked not to be seated."

  • "We have been dining at Peohe's for many years now, We were here for Father's Day. We sat on the patio. Service has been sub par the past couple times we have dined here and this time was no exception. My husband ordered their signature dish, the Macadamia Mahi Mahi, and was served a very small portion of the tail end of the fish and some rice. Not what you want to see when you pay $33 for it. We also ordered a couple lava cakes for dessert (another signature dish) and the cake was dry and the outside was somewhat crispy. So my suggestion would be to come her for lunch and with the expectation that you are going to hang out for awhile and do not expect great service as I feel a restaurant of this calibre should have."

  • "Overall, our party enjoyed the food and the atmosphere is fun. Kind of a faux Polynesian thing going on but not over the top kitschy. I ordered the whole sea bass which was a bit over done, which was a little surprising. Nice sweet & spicy sauce. The chocolate lava cake was terrific."

  • "service was really slow....and seemed to just be us as the tables around us were in and out before we had our entree - we were starving waiting for dinner"

  • "And that's about it. The food was not awful, but neither was it notable. The only thing was of note was that we didn't finish or take home anything we were served. Bisque tasted oily and burned, salad was drowned and soggy, fish was overcooked bordering on chewy, sauce was fairly bland, whole macadamia nuts in the sauce made for an overpowering mouth feel, and to top it off the lava cake had NO molten part in the middle. Over baked and dry molten lava cake?!? Most of the menu was the same palette so not much variety. We enjoyed the view and our evening as a whole, and having the keepsake menus printed with "Happy Anniversary" was a cute touch, but the meal was the only lowlight of our night! Roy's would've been a better pick!"

  • "The food and service is what you expect from a chain restaurant, although there is no mention that its a Landrys anywhere in the reviews or ads. At this price point you would expect less robotic service and a more creative menu Really just a blah restaurant, nothing exceptional at all. Pretty disappointing overall and we are not food snobs, we just like to eat well. Its not a place i would return to."
