Diner Reviews
  • "I reunited with an old acquaintance here and thought it was excellent. We were seated promptly, had a GREAT view and were served with unobtrusive but prompt service. The food was very good. I was not with a significant other but would love to take mine there because it was a romantic setting."

  • "Have not been here in awhile after having some negative experiences with Sunday brunches, but this dinner was very good. The food was delicious and service was good. I would still like their service to be a bit more attentive, but for a busy night it was better than in the past."

  • "We ate at Peohe's to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary, where we got engaged! It's a special, romantic spot for us. It's still romantic, and the food is still awesome, after 22 years. Because we made reservations thru Open Table, the wait staff were aware, and had special menus for us, with our names and Happy 22nd Anniversary printed on the top. Nice. The service was perfect - attentive, but not bothersome. The only draw-back for me was it was cold! My husband was fine, but I ended up wearing my coat throughout the meal. The waiter did offer to find us a "warmer" location, but we didn't want to move from the window - I survived. Macademia nut crusted mahi-mahi is fabulous. Grilled salmon was delicious. Lava cake too good!"

  • "We were really impressed with Pehoe's. the food was excellent, and the view of San Diego was unmatched. The inside of the restaurant had a great ambiance as well."

  • "We took our daughter out for her 17th birthday and it was great treat. The waiter and food were excellent and was a very nice touch to create a custom menu for the birthday girl. If in San Diego would go again."

  • "My wife and I absolutely loved the view of San Diego across the water from the huge windows surrounding our table the food was not as beautiful however. We had fillet mingnon and lobster tail. The fillet was a good portion but was mushy the lobster was tasty but over cooked. The food was a dissapointment but the view saved the night."

  • "This was our first time dining at the restaurant. The menu looked tasty with a decent variety of fish and steaks so I was looking for a nice meal. We made a reservation and seated on time at a nice window view of the water. Then the service started. Initially, the waiter asked if we would like a recommendation on wine. Not a problem and we had a glass. However, at each turn of the service he then continued to ask if we would like a recommendation. Appetizer, salad, entree...recommendation, recommendation, recommendation. It was rather annoying and quite frankly unnecessary. I realized after hearing other waiters doing the same thing this must be the restaurant's policy. In my opinion not a good one. Pricey and the food was only so so."

  • "My wife and I treated our daughter to her 30th birthday dinner at Peohe's. The ambience, spectacular views, and wonderful food made the occasion memorable. Alex (our server) was attentive, but not intrusive. My wife had the crab-stuffed Tillapia, while my daughter and I had the Ahi. We all enjoyed the lobster bisque. For dessert, we split the lava cake... Wow! Peohe's has become our go-to celebration restaurant. We feel the splurge is worth it every time!"

  • "My husband and I went to Peohe's for our anniversary dinner and they were so kind to print special menus acknowledging that. We had the shrimp cocktail as an appetizer and they were HUGE! So delicious! For our main courses my husband had the filet & shrimp and I had the 12 oz. prime rib. Normally I would have gotten seafood here but I opted for the steak. After tasting it, I did not regret my decision one bit! It was so yummy and perfectly cooked. If there was one downfall to the night our server, who was very nice, just not very warm, had offered us the chocolate lava cake at the beginning of service noting it would take 30 mins to prepare. Unfortunately, he forgot it, and by the time dinner was over we didn't want to wait. Oh well!"

  • "My wife and I had a beautiful table with a terrific view of downtown San Diego across the harbor. The weather was cool and very windy so we did not spend any time outside but imagine that would be a highlight for a pre or post drink. The fish we had was prepared deftly. Portion size was very large and the fresh bread was very good. We each had a class of wine and the main course for $100. Not a value restaurant but the service and ambiance made the expense palatable. All in all, I would return to Peohe's when I am in town the next time."

  • "We went to Peohe's for our 56th wedding anniversary. The waiter didn't even acknowledge our anniversary until we paid the bill. It was hard to hear the waiter and she couldn't hear us as she mixed up our order. She didn't seem to be interested in her job. We expected a great meal, but the food was just average. We will not go back."

  • "This restaurant has an incredible view of the city but that was all secondary to the food. The seafood was all cooked perfectly making this a dinner to remember. The lobster bisque was excellent with large chunks of lobster and sherry was added at the table. The mixed grill had a perfectly cooked piece of salmon, excellent shrimp and delectable scallops. OK, the prices are a bit high but the quality is excellent. Highly recommended."

  • "Went here with my wife while visiting in Coronado and had a very enjoyable experience. My Ahi tuna selection was among the best I've had and the service was perfect - there when you needed something but not intrusive. Recommend for romatic/special occasion dining as it looks out on San Diego Bay."

  • "I am going to keep it short and sweet. We got there waited for a few minutes then seated. Printed on my husbands menu it said Happy Birthday which I thought was a really cute touch! Sushi... AMAZING.. calamari.. average sauce with it very good... Ceasar salad very good a little heavy on dressing but tasty... New York Strip Steak... good.. potatoes however were absolutely delicious. Waiter was so attentive and very friendly! Overall a fantastic and perfect evening!"

  • "Love Coronado. My husband and my weekend get-away go-to spot. Peohe's is walking distance of our regular stay, The Marriott and the view is amazing. We had our son's rehearsal dinner there last year and it was fabulous. This past weekend I had the beefsteak salad and the tomatoes were flavorless. A so-so dish unfortunately and my husbands New York strip wasn't seasoned. My sea bass was wonderful as well as the pom martini. Very good service and we were allowed to have a long, leisurely dining experience. Will return, but stick to what we know is really good."

  • "Visiting from PHX, this was a fantastic way to celebrate our Anniversary. The view is on the water looking across to the SD skyline. KateG was our "Lady in Waiting" and did a fantastic job of answering questions without hesitation or lack of knowledge. She knew who she was and why she was there and did an excellant job. The food was perfect. My wife rarely eats the entire meal, but she made it disappear from her plate. Mine was the same. We rarely have dessert, but being a special occassion, we had the Lava cake, and nothing was left but the smear of fudge on the plate. Thanks for the personalized menu, the great ambiance, and to KateG, for making this a great evening. This is on our list of Places to remember for a great experience."

  • "We took an out of the country guest and her mother to Peohe's for a birthday brunch. Excellent experience all around. Everyone enjoyed it. We had the Eggs Copenhagen (eggs benedict with smoked salmon instead of Canadian bacon). Food was great. Will definitely return."

  • "This place was horrible. We felt like we were on a cruise ship because of the cheesy decor and then the food was horrible. I could have cooked a better meal at home. The most painful part was that we had a $100 bill for two people. A complete watste of time, money, and stomach space."

  • "After spending a week in San Diego we decided to pop over to Coronado for our last evening before heading back to the snowy east coast. We had heard so many wonderful things about Coronado and wanted to end our week with a fabulous dining experience, overlooking the water. We chose Peohe's since the view was spectacular and the menu looked great. Unfortunately, while the view certainly was amazing, the food was merely average. The Mango stack was relatively tasteless, the coconut ship was a bit overdone and the mahi mahi was downing in a bland sauce. To be clear - the food was not bad - just not as amazing as we had hoped. My recommendation? Pop into Peohe's for a drink and appetizer - but make a dinner reservation somewhere else."

  • "What a way to top off a great day in San Diego, by going to Peohes for an incredible dinning experience. Everything from the staff, to the excellent meal, and of course the outstanding views from our table, made for an unforgettable experience that we will not soon forget."

  • "The food was disappointing. The artichoke appetizer was undercooked and the lobster bisque had a metallic taste to it. My companion and I both had Mahi Mahi (prepared two different ways). While mine was quite tasty, his was bland and the julienned vegetables served with it were paltry. The restaurant is on the pricey side so this was not a good experience. Also once the sun goes down the lighting is not adequate. Diners were pulling their cellphones out to use as flashlights in order to read the menu. The only thing going for this restaurant is the view. Leaving this one to the tourists. There are many other restaurants with comparable views, a better menu and more reasonable prices."

  • "Definitely visit Peohe's! The view is wonderful and the food was great. The service was OK. They were very courteous, but our waiter was in a huge rush and didn't refill our water glasses. He seemed intent on turning the table. My husband kept saying this and also commented he didn't seem to enjoy what he was doing. The restaurant it worth visiting, esp. if you're staying in Coronado."

  • "I love Peohe's, been dining there for years. It's a landmark on Coronado (like the Hotel) and has panoramic views, delicious food (try the crab, avocado & mango stack, and the braised pork volcano, amazing)!"

  • "Have eaten here on 4 other occasions. Brought wife for special night. Stuffed tilapia had a very bleachy odd taste. Told waitress. She did not offer to replace food with another meal. Said manager would come talk w/us. Never happened. They did take this meal off the bill, but it would have been nice to be able to speak w/manager. Prime rib was just ok. Lots of fat. The appetizer was excellent. Server started out nice but did not come to check on us or refill water after we were served (and someone else delivered our food). When we told her the fish tasted off (both of us had eaten some of it), she seemed mad. We were not trying to get a free meal, we just wanted something that was edible. Should have replaced the meal."

  • "had high expectations of a place situated on the water in Coronado with prices ranging from $20-$40 per plate and was very let down. The surf and turf sushi roll tasted like a premade sushi roll you'd get from the grocery store. I had the Mahi Mahi in a banana macadamia sauce that the waitress warned was sweet, which I like. Turned out to be an underwhelming filet of fish swimming in a soupy sweet sauce. The fish itself tasted as though it had been frozen leaving a kind of dry taste in my mouth. It was supposed to have a ginger coconut rice with it, but instead came with an unflavorful rice pilaf. My boyfriend ordered the crispy Sea Bass. It actually had a descent flavor to it, but picking through the bones made it impossible to enjoy."

  • "My wife and I discovered this restaurant on the internet and after reading the reviews we decided to have lunch there to celebrate our anniversary. It was a lovely day for lunch on the outside patio. We decided to have only appetizers, the mango stack was wonderful, the coconut shrimp fantastic, the calamari was delicious and the PuPu platter mediocre. The service was relaxed and the ambiance wonderful with a spectacular view of downtown San Diego."

  • "Location and ambience is top notch. This is basically a Chart House restaurant not a Top Chef selection. Adequate for entertaining or special occasions. Foodies will not approve."

  • "This dinner outing was with my visiting daughter and her local friend. Neither had dined here before. The wait time for reserved seating was 10 minutes. We had an inside table with a nice enough view for not being window seating. Our waiter was knowledgeable & made a perfect recommendations to both my daughter. She was raving about the flavor throughout the meal. Her friend's scallop dish was well prepared without a hint of being overdone. I had the market fresh swordfish prepared to my request. Our waiter offered several very good suggestions to the pairings. When served my, swordfish was hot, tasty and maintained it's natural moisture. The low lighting made it difficult to read the menu, but easy to enjoy the cityscape."

  • "The dinner at Peohe's capped off a wonderful day on Coronado and this restaurant is first class with great views of the San Diego Bay and Skyline. The food and wine were great. There is something for everyone and the pairings and tastes are very good. If you like fresh fish prepared in many different ways, this is the place to go."

  • "Our lunch had long been planned with out of town guests and even though the weather was rainy and stormy, the views were interesting and exciting as the clouds and rain shrouded the city skyline and coronado bridge, then it would reappear again, with clouds and rain. always a lovely spot whatever weather."
