We chose the Penrose Room for an anniversary celebration. Our party selected the seven-course chef’s choice meal. Two people were concerned about the menu selections, but the chef was accommodating of preferences and ingredient intolerances. Some of the courses included: butternut squash soup with roasted hazelnuts, Maryland blue crab bisque (awesome), Colorado striped bass, sweetbreads, fromage selection, panna cotta with melon, red berry pectin with fruit, chocolate selection, and a take home sweet for a midnight snack. We did not try the wine pairings. Service was top-notch. The meal lasted almost four hours. The band was very good but the volume made conversation a little difficult at times; other parties enjoyed dancing to the music.

Wonderful Sommilier and 5Star dining experience. Breathtaking view of mountains and lovely chandelier filled dancing floor. Although the singers voice was elegantly beautiful, we expected more if a Norah Jones type or Loius Armstrong, a more energetic sound to dance to. No one took the floor that evening. I'm sad to say the food was not up to standards but, it did not ruin our evening. The menu our chef chose for the 7 course was lacking. The corn soup starter was the best and the worst was the duck that was too tough to eat.

The service was good - not five star, as they ignored us for the first 15-20 minutes we were there. There were exceptional tables with a front-on view of the mountains that went unseated (were they saving them for the regulars?). The food was very good and included not one but two amuse bouches, but the meal was not the best we've ever had. I want to give this restaurant all five stars, but, at the end of the day, it boiled down to: a not-busy Wednesday night, a couple of large that received a lot of attention, several tables with great views that sat empty while we were seated at a ho-hum table, waitstaff focused on larger tables and not giving two-tops the attention they also deserved.

We had a wonderful time at the Broadmoor from the moment we stepped out of our car which was taken care of by your valet service. Everyone greeted us so warmly and welcomingly. Our server, Taylor and his team were absolutely top notch in every way. We were treated like royalty, and we were assisted with making our menu selections, and any questions we had were clearly answered. Our sommelier was knowledgeable, helpful, and very professional. The excellent training of each of your employees is very apparent...they do it all just right! The personal touches, such as everyone greeting us by name, and wishing us a happy anniversary. We love to dance, so we enjoyed the wonderful live music and a very nice dance floor.

We have dined at the Penrose several times since 1975. We found the food to be tasty however, the serving size was that of a child. Stripe bass was about a 4 oz. serving. I had 3 scallops for my entree. Crab soup was 1 tsp. of crab then 1 cup of cream poured over that. My tuna tartar was a total of 2 bites. The dessert was 3 bites. Had to ask for bread because we were still very hungry. The "house" chardonnay was 4 oz. at most at the price of $16 per glass. The dinner was pref e with the price being $82 per person. The dining room is outstanding and beautiful. Small combo provided great dancing music. Service was superb

2 hours and 40 minutes is more time than we wanted to spend on dinner. We had been there over 1 1/2 hours before we got our entree. The food was very good and attractive a nd the dance music was perfect, view is exceptional from the top of the building and of course it was quite expensive we would have left after the entree but the dessert was included in the 3 course price. there is no a la carte which means a lot of food.

The team concept they used in waiting tables is not working. Nobody seems responsible for the table. I had to ask for salt and peper twice before it was delivered to the table. I also asked for a drink but ultimately had to walk to the bar myself to get it. The service was very poor and the food was of good quality but a poor value for the price and overall service.

Always a great place to eat for a very special occasion. The service is always good there. The good is very filling and amazing. We enjoyed dancing in between courses. However, if you are not ready to spend at least 2 hours for dinner (minimum, more like 3 hours), this would not be the right place. If you enjoy a true dinner and dancing experience then this is really the place for you.

My wife and I went for our 25th anniversary and were pretty impressed with the whole experience. The wait staff was excellent and the food and drinks were very impressive. The only downside was my entree. The ahi tuna came out grey and not seared. Inserted into the tuna were 4 haricot verts and the whole visual impression was that of olive loaf. My wife's scallops on the other hand were the best I have ever had. I usually don't use the word amazing but that is the only to describe the deserts. I was very full after the 3 courses and wanted to skip desert but was glad I didn't. The flavors and textures were like nothing I have ever had before. We will be back for our next special occasion.

The food was delicious but felt the service was very slow. Yes it was 5 star dinning but waiting 15 min for initial glass of wine was not good. I was never asked if I wanted a second glass of wine. When I ask for another glass of wine it never came until I asked for it again! I think the Penrose room is slightly over rated. I will not return. The food at the Broadmoor's Summit is delicious and the atmosphere and service much better.

Our evening at the Penrose Room was truly memorable! We chose this restaurant for it's reputation as one of Colorado Springs' premiere restaurants and we weren't disappointed. The service was attentive, the food delicious and where else can you listen to a wonderful jazz combo and hit the dance floor? Not too many of these experiences still exist that cater to elegance and sophistication.

We had been there before and had a great experience with the seven course menu, where the chef chooses the dishes. We took the four course menu this time, choosing our own dishes, and we were definitely not wowed. It was very good overall, with a few really great notes, but we didn't walk away with the feeling of having had an exceptional dining experience, which absolutely should happen in a five star restaurant. There were quite a few small disappointments. The pate was alright but not fantastic, one of the wines was pretty forgettable, the duck was slightly too salty, and so on. There were some delightful bits though. Blue crab soup was amazing, vegetables beautifully highlighted.
