Pennsylvania 6 (PE6) brings Contemporary American Cuisine and Raw Bar to Center City’s Midtown Village. Located at 114 South 12th Street, guests dine in a post-prohibition style restaurant featuring dark wooden accents, plush-red banquet seating, white marble-topped tables and bar with extensive beer and cocktail list. Executive Chef Mark Plessis, designs contemporary American dishes with specialties including Daily Fresh East and West Coast Oysters, Skillet Fried Shishito Peppers and Roasted Bone Marrow, with garlic-herb crust and red onion jam and a “luge” option – two ounces of Woodford Reserve to drink as it is poured down the hollowed bone.   • "Noise level is very, very high - sit upstairs. But, that's to be expected because downstairs the floor is packed with people enjoying a great beer and oyster selection. Service is extremely slow - we had 5:45 reservations for an 8 p.m. show on a Friday, and almost missed the first act. But the food was worth the wait. Recommend it if you are not in a hurry, or just want the raw bar and a drink."

  • "Went here for dinner before theater. Server was very friendly. Food was great -- especially the raw bar assortment. My wife had the open-face mushroom sandwich which was so crusty it was difficult to eat. Biggest problem with the place is that with a practically empty restaurant, the kitchen took forever to get food out to us. Won't be going back."

  • "My friend and I were looking for a place nearby the Forrest Theater for a pre-show dinner. Pennsylvania 6 did not disappoint. We didn't have a cocktail although the options looked intriguing. Will definitely try one next time. We opted for the white bean dip served in a mason jar with crostini. It was a great take on hummus. Since I had heard so much about the duck fat frites, I opted for the lobster roll since the fries were included. The fries were even better than I expected and the lobster roll was chock full of sweet, tender lobster chunks. My friend ordered the pork collar which she loved. I tried a bite and pork and the grits were full of flavor. Our next visit will definitely be soon."

  • "The name and decor are a little confusing but the food was on time. My wife has octopus wherever she finds it and she proclaimed the grilled octopus with fingerling potatoes one of the best. Her lobster roll was standard fare but loaded with lobster. As advertised the accompanying fries were great. My pork collar was decadent and took me straight to the South. Served with creamy/cheesy grits and collard greens and a rich gravy. I could hear my heart screaming NO! But that didn't stop me. Excellent! The chocolate pot au creme with vanilla gelato and crushed macadamia nuts was a delicious end to a wonderful meal. All aboard!"

  • "It's located in the rather dramatic Odeon space on 12th street just below Market, just a short walk from the Market East train station and the Convention Center and it's worth the walk. We were welcomed very warmly for our recent early dinner reservations and shown promptly up to the upper level dining room overlooking the lively bar. My loyal spouse tried one of several champagne based cocktails while I had a rum sour. Both were excellent and well crafted. I sampled the raw bar with an assortment of oysters and clams that arrived tasting sweet, fresh and nicely briny. We then both opted for the lobster roll, which turned to be excellent and were accompanied by some tasty frites. The bar below was noisy, but the food made that minor. Go!"

  • "I love when food is really flavorful and that is one area where Penn 6 doesn't fall short. The cocktails were tasty, the aioli with the fried clams app was very lemony and light (as were the clams - not over fried), and my steak was cooked perfectly to the temperature I requested. The beet flavored farro was interesting and something unusual that I really enjoyed. Unfortunately, we were too full to try the apple cake."

  • "We were going to Walnut St. Theatre and went here beforehand. The bar was loud and hopping. We sat upstairs. A very interesting menu. Everyone liked their food... Not a great place for the plain, basic eaters. Its a terrific place if into different cool foods and preparations. (which i am) Wait staff was very good, competent, friendly and the rectified a mistake quickly and easily. Also, gave a theatre discount without us asking- thoght that was fabulous. Will definitly go again."

  • "Met a friend on Monday night for a drink in the bar--good drinks, knowledgeable bartender, nice atmosphere. Then my husband joined me and we stayed for dinner. Had the rabbit ragu pasta, pimento cheese toasts, kale and duck fat fries. The kale was done well, everything else was good, not great. Will give it another try and order the crab mac n cheese."

Trendy bar menu with lots of "girlie" drinks along with a nice assortments of more manly libations and wines. Informal but informed casual service. Seating at the bar or bar-banquettes may be a little less comfortable than the upstairs dining room. But, this is the essence of the place."

  • "I walked by this place a few months ago and the center staircase caught my eye; checked it out online and thought the menu looked decent. We made reservations for Saturday night and we were so pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was perfect. We were seated upstairs; lights were dim which nicely offset the bright red seating area. I highly recommend getting one or two mason jars along with an appetizer; they were perfect to nibble on. The burrata was spectacular. Usually from looking at a menu online you can get an idea of how the food will be, but this far exceeded our expectations. The food was simple yet had complex flavors. You know the menu is good when you already know what you'll order the next time you come back!"

  • "The experience was a mixed bag. The bar did not carry my preferred brand which is a pretty common one. The One BIG Ice cube in the drink was stupid. The fried clam appetizer was overcooked and tough.The Shrimp Cocktail was excellent. The Entrée portions were very small - mine was likely not more than 3oz of fish -which was fresh and flavorful. My companions entree was somewhat larger .Neither of us are dessert eaters - but ordered dessert as both still hungry. Service was good The bar crowd got loud as we were eating - décor does not dampen the sound level -- tile floors nothing on the walls that absorbs sound - high ceilings - the noise bounces. Bathroom needed TP and a Mop. Would go back for Happy Hour - Not likely to go back for dinner."

  • "My boyfriend and I came in for Valentine's Day and while the front of house staff were a bit stand-offish, our overall experience was fantastic. Our server, Harry, was energetic, knowledgable and could make really great suggestions. He was very personable and made us feel incredibly welcome. The cocktails were fabulous, the food was delicious (best roasted chicken my boyfriend has every had..and my roasted bone marrow was perfect) and the ambiance was cozy. This is a favorite spot of mine."

  • "Hits at least a double with the raw bar, but service haphazard. "Be right back with water" means eternity. First attempt at a "dry Manhattan straight up" was dilute and warm. Seafood dishes and fries are tasty, balanced, and nicely seasoned. Deserts not overly sweetened. I suspect it might be a better place for long lunch in town or after a day at the office if you can catch the attention of the server. Good potential but needs some work ."
