Wreck fish was outstanding, service was impeccable and desserts were off the charts. Banana Panna Cotta was out of this world. Filet mignon was tasty but not the best I've had in Charleston.

Recommended by a friend and found it to be outstanding...! From the moment we arrived we were treated as "guests" and the service was outstanding. The wait staff was very well prepared and helpful with our selections. Their coordination of delivering the food was the best I've experienced. The presentation of the food was unequalled in any prior experience. Finally, the deserts were out of this world delicious. I highly recommend to all visitors to set aside an evening to enjoy the experience. Oh, a great value and very, very filling. Thank you to the Team @ Peninsula Grill !!!

The restaurant rates in the top 3 of places we have ever dined. I enjoyed a salad special of heirloom tomatoes followed with the Roasted Rack of Lamb with wild mushrooms and spinach. The lamb was beautifully presented and exquisitely tender. My husband enjoyed the Pan seared scallops with braised butter letter and diced lobster. He said the scallops were the best he has eaten. And of course, we had been told that we could not leave without splitting an order of the Ultimate Coconut Cake. Typically when we dine, we do not order dessert, but after having this cake I will not hesitate to make it a priority on our next trip! Save Peninsula Grill for your last stop on a trip to Charleston so the other restaurants aren't held to its standard!

We visit Charleston every 4 to 5 years. This time we decided to try Peninsula Grill and have now placed it on the top of our list of restaurants to return to when we visit Charleston. We highly recommend the scallops for an entree. Be sure to save room for the 7-layer coconut cake. It's very shareable.

The food was great but main course took forever to be served and server was scarce most of night. Had to track down and pour our wine on four different occasions. Not what I was expecting out of Peninsula. Had not been there in seven years and probably won't go back for another seven.

If you are looking for fine dining in Charleston, look no further. The presentation of the food is artful, and you almost hate to eat it. The taste surpasses expectations. Lastly, when dining at a world class restaurant, service can often be stuffy and offputting. This could not be further from the truth at Peninsula. Steve, our server, was extremely accommodating and friendly and was half the reason we had such an excellent experience. Thanks Peninsula!

Peninsula Grill is our go-to fine dining restaurant in Charleston. The innovative menu, quality of preparation, and high level of service is unparalleled. They always remember my wife's food allergies and, when possible, seat us at our favorite table. For a very busy dining room, the noise level is pleasantly moderate. On this visit I had the scallops entree which was perfectly prepared, beautifully plated, and had an abundance of lobster meat on the side. Fantastic. The wine list is extensive and fairly priced with a good selection of wines by the glass. Peninsula Grill is always a wonderful and enjoyable night out.

Dining experience was great until taking a bite into the huge, yummy looking scallops. They were old and had a strong ammonia taste and small. The staff handled it beautifully but it was a big disappointment to an otherwise lovely evening.

Peninsula Grill is by far my favorite restaurant in Charleston. They do everything right, from our Server Eric, to wine selection, appetizers, entrees, all were wonderful. Once you enter, you know this is going to be a fabulous experience. They started our evening with a taste of compressed watermelon and crab (yes, together.....it was fabulous). We had a lovely oyster sampler of Northern Oysters (I am not a fan of southern oysters). Then an heirloom tomatoes appetizer. Our entrées were rike fish which tastes like a sweet grouper, and the scallop and lobster. Everything was exquisitely prepared and served. Eric, our server, was delightful. This is a great special occasion place.

We've eaten at P Grill many times and always enjoy the meal there. Given the success of the restaurant I'd love to see the owner spend a little more on noise attenuation. The walls are nicely sound absorbant but the flat hard ceiling and the sea grass style carpet do nothing to help the noise level. During our recent visit the noise level was so bad that people had to shout at each other to be heard. My wife and I couldn't hear each other across a very small table. Not what you want for fine dining!

I have a hard time understanding how people can appreciate this restaurant, service is very bad, food is average and served in quantities of "all you can eat" restaurant. We ordered nice white wine that was served at room temperature, while I asked to have it chilled in a bucket of ice they looked at me strangely and 30 seconds afterwards they brought us the appetizers... I asked them to take it back and wait for the wine, what they did BUT they brought us the same plate 10 minutes later and it was cold !!! Main course, jumbo scallops with lobster bisque barely average

The Peninsula Grill is a restaurant like no other. The menu is absolutely amazing! Anything you order is cooked to perfection and downright delicious. When I dined there tonight with my family, the bibb lettuce wedge, heirloom tomato salad, and the wreckfish special were absolutely fantastic. Not to mention the coconut cake for dessert, which is the BEST coconut cake I've ever had! Honestly, the Peninsula Grill is one of my favorite restaurants in America. Whenever I'm in Charleston, I ALWAYS make a reservation!

Wonderful meal from start to finish. When called to confirm our reservation my wife asked about appropriate dress for ladies and was given a description that caused some hesitation. After reluctantly deciding on a very nice dress, which she was certain wouldn't be nice enough given the dress code we were given, we were seated and couldn't help but notice a number of other patrons that were either not given the dress code or were permitted to ignore it. Great meal but if you have a dress code please enforce it.

While recently vacationing in Charleston, I took my girlfriend to the Peninsula Grill for a romantic dinner. Although, my expectations were high, I was blown away. We had a great table by the window looking out into the candlelit courtyard. The food and service were the best I have experienced in my lifetime. The NY Strip and Carolina Hen are two superb entrees and the sides were excellent. The Ultimate Coconut Cake and Chocolate Extravaganza provided the perfect ending to our spectacular dining experience. I highly recommend the Peninsula Grill and look forward to dining there in the future.

My husband and I ate dinner at Peninsula a few nights ago for my birthday, mainly so I could have the coconut cake for my birthday cake. We had requested courtyard seating as it was a beautiful evening so we got to enjoy the setting all evening. I had a Teatini which was delicious-citrusy and refreshing; my husband had a Spanish red wine which he really enjoyed. I had the sea scallops with lobster, and my husband had a tenderloin. My dinner was one of the best I've ever had...perfectly seasoned; my husband said his tenderloin was excellent. Of course, there was the coconut cake-perfect birthday cake. Our waitress was welcoming and friendly; service was fantastic...great place to celebrate, or just sit in the courtyard with a cocktail.

The Peninsula was in every way outstanding. The foie gras was as good as it gets as was the steak tartare. However, the chef brought the lowly chicken to a phenomenal level - probably one of the top three chickens I have ever had. The desserts were of course excellent. Service was knowledgeable, very prompt without being aggressive and professional. This is really a 5 star restaurant.

We have been visiting Charleston since the 1990s, and while trendy restaurants come and go (many of them, wonderful), Charleston for us has always been about its timelessness and Southern elegance. The Penninsula Grill, with its explicit and implied dress codes, and always wonderful food brought by extremely attentive waiters, captures the essence of "our" Charleston. Everything we experienced during our most recent visit was great, but our waiter, Delia, stood out. She made the visit quite exceptional.
