Peninsula GrillStellarWonderful in almost every way. I don't enjoy the small tables for 2 crammed too close. This might be fine in NYC (actually I refuse to sit there too) but if you can arrange a proper dining table, every other aspect is special!5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMElegant DiningWe thoroughly enjoyed our meal and overall experience at Peninsula Grill. Our waiter was lovely as were all of the staff who tended our table. The food is delicious, beautifully presented and unique. We ate the rib eye steak with brandy pepper sauce, the appetizer "Lobster 3-ways" and the Bibb Salad. All great. They are known for their coconut cake which we didn't order but those next to us were delirious while eating theirs!5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMMade our Special Occasion SpecialWe came here to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary while vacationing in the area. Our waiter Mark and the entire staff were extremely attentive and paid extra attention to detail. The food and service were excellent and they even brought our our dessert with a special "Happy 25th Anniversary" message inscribed on the plate! Made our special occasion extra special. Highly recommended.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMHeavenly, well worth it!Tonight, we went to Peninsula Grill celebrating a birthday, it was heavenly. The ambiance is nice, we had a table in the back of the restaurant inside by the open kitchen line. The service was impeccable. I had the local grilled swordfish accompanied by the most delectable sauce ever, a ginger-lime beurre blanc. It was sinful, I could have licked the plate. We noted how perfectly portioned each dish was, and I agree. We finished our meal with the coconut cake with coconut anglaise and strawberries. They were nice enough to write "Happy Birthday" on the plate.
Although Peninsula Grill is expensive it is well worth the trip for a special occasion. I'd say its one if the best meals I've had. I highly recommend it!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AM5 Stars in CharlestonA must if you are in Charleston. Absolutely epicurean and a delight!

Service was outstanding; enthusiastic, energetic, polite and attentive! Each and every dish we had was delicious. The lobster trio appetizer was a huge favorite of the table. All of the seafood was exceptionally fresh and delicious and the duck was amazing.. And there is a very good reason the coconut cake is so famous! We love exciting and interesting food that is well made, and this was the best meal we have had in a long time!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellence at the Peninsula GrillWe had heard about Peninsula Grill but this was our first dining experience here. We made our reservations 3 weeks before our visit to Charleston. We were not disappointed ! The service was exceptional and the food delicious . The veranda was perfect filled with lush greenery, gas lanterns and an alley view of the street with envied onlookers passing by.
The food was excellent, fresh grooper with lobster mashed potatoes, and other amazing accompaniments.

We were not disappointed as the food and service was excellent. Service was friendly and attentive but not intrusive. While the prices are a little on the high side, it was well worth it for this celebratory dinner and we highly recommend it. The place is renown for it's coconut cake for dessert as it is their signature dish. My husband, who is not necessarily a coconut fan still loved it and I would advise you to try it as well. You will not be disappointed. This meal has been our one dinner out on this vacation and it was worth the splurge.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's DayWe enjoyed Mother's Day dinner out in the courtyard. The food is divine! The service is truly "awe"some, and of course, the coconut cake--to die for! (Worth the gazillion calories :-)
We thought we would venture out the 2nd night of this trip and try other notable places...only to be wishing we had just stayed w/ our fav. Went back to PG our 3rd night. We love Charleston; try to visit every year, and alwaysss look forward to our evening at PG.

It was within walking distance from our hotel and we're so happy we happened about it for dinner. It's a lovely spot and we loved it very much. I would definitely recommend it and wished we would have had dinner here more than once while on vacation.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome experience!!!Our meal from starter to dessert was fantastic. The fresh ingredients combined with the perfect preparation make for a foodies dream meal. And by the way the best dessert is the banana "panna cotta" pudding not the world famous cocoanut cake.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMSoft Shell CrabsBy far, the best soft shell crabs I have ever experienced. Leave room for the coconut cake.
We would recommend to anyone looking for a special evening.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptionalCertainly one of the best that Charleston has to offer. The rack of lamb was flavorful and cooked perfectly. The duck was tender with a crispy skin.(delicious)! Service was unobtrusive efficient yet attentive. I would recommend Peninsula Grill most highly.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Desserts in a Romantic SettingI have always wanted to eat in the courtyard at the Peninsula. I looks magical as you pass by and glimpse past the gates and the lush greenery. We decided to go there for desserts on a beautiful May evening. It was every bit as wonderful as I thought.
Their famous coconut layer cake lived up to its reputation. A chocolate, dark, milky, all of the above - cake was divine.

Wait Staff was great (our server had help bringing out the dishes so we all received our food at the samde time), food was delicious and timing was perfect. There was just the right amount of background noise to keep things lively without having to raise our voices to talk to one another.
Save room for dessert - our table split a piece of coconut 12 layer cake and the banana pudding. Both were great (especially the banan pudding).
Please note - there was no valet parking the evening we were there and parking can be difficult. Take a cab if you have to.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMFlawless in CharlestonSimply exceptional. Tremendous food. Flawless, engaging service. One of our best meals anywhere.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMLove the dining room. SoftLove the dining room. Soft Shell Foie Gras and Veal Sweatbread apps were impressive. The Ribeye with a whole foie gras liver on it was AMAZING4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMCharleston GemMy girlfriend and I got in to Charleston late Friday night and got this reservation last minute. We decided to sit on the patio, which we shared with overhanging trees and ivy covered walls. Our waiter, Steve, was very friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. We started with the foie gras which was decadent down to the last bite. We decided to go with the specials of the night, which were the soft shell crab and veal filet. Both delicious and great recommendations from Steve. He was just one of those waiters that make your night that much more special. Lastly, we highly suggest eating outside in the quiet courtyard/patio,4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMPeninsula Grill was amazing!Peninsula Grill was amazing! I have eaten there several times. This time was as good as the last. Service and food are impeccable. There are many good places to dine in Charleston, and this one ranks at or near the top.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFor me it takes 5 stars inFor me it takes 5 stars in all categories to garner an overall 5 star rating and this one was close. Had a nice corner two top that made this anniversary dinner special. Foie gras app as good as I've had in recent memory. Duck entree was excellent if not just a tiny bit sweet. Wife's sauce with lobster and scallop entree was simply fantastic, seasoned perfectly. Desserts - chocolate creme brulee and the famous coconut cake were tops if not rather large which wasn't bad I suppose. Service was attentive but never like the opening of more San Pellegrino water without asking. Ambiance - fine dining / romantic noise ok. Very fresh and as good as it gets in Charleston although have yet to try to newest spots.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthday celebration. HaveBirthday celebration. Have not been back to Charleston in 45 years , what a wonderful city!! Not a typer so please excuse brevity. Carolina trout out of this world!! Wifes meal mind blowing. Very accommodating.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMTo say that the food and serviceTo say that the food and service were excellent is an understatement. It certainly surpassed other fine restaurants. If you are a coconut cake lover, their cake is a must and it is so large that it can be shared.I thought I made reservations far enough in advance for a good table, but obviously did not. My husband loved it and it was his birthday, so that is all that matters. He does want to return to Peninsula Grill for another special occasion.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
