Food was served warm, not hot and the sides, at $8, were barely enough for one person. From all we had read, our evening at the Peninsula was very disappointing. There are a great many better and less expensive restaurants in the Charleston area. A $200 dinner for two should never be disappointing!

With all of the positive write-ups concerning Peninsula Grill, we were so excited about dining there. I was impressed that they accommodated our request for a window table - very nice! Although the food was good, we were somewhat "underwhelmed" by it and thought the prices were a bit steep for the portions served. The coconut seven layer cake was the evening's standout, and we're not really all that in to desserts but just had to try this.

An overall wonderful dining experience. Service and food were superb. One of the members of our party was gluten intolerant and our server could not have been more accommodating even to the extent of offering a separate butter knife with the gluten free rolls he graciously provided, so as to avoid having the knife come in contact with the regular bread. The food was excellent from appetizers to dessert which was the most amazing coconut cake on the planet! A very special dining experience. Can't wait to return.

We were seated outside in a dreamy courtyard- just what you'd envision for a perfect evening in Charleston. Kind, professional yet unstuffy service from Tiffany. Food was good but a bit off; i.e. the steak and succotash tasted strongly of propane. The portion of the fois gras was so large as to be almost grotesque. A few nice pieces would have been a better balance. When asked, Tiffany suggested the cheaper ($90) Ribera. While it was refereshing to have a server not automatically suggest the most expensive- I didn't like it and probably should have asked to consult the sommelier- if it had been offered. Indoors the restaurant seemd to be a sophisticated and comfortably elegant crowd and atmosphere.

This was an extraordinary little restaurant located ideally at the end of the Charleston Market Place inside historic Planters Inn. The food, presentation, wait staff, ambiance was all top shelf. Soup, salad, duck, pork, seafood - we tried it all and loved every bite. But ~ save room! Their coconut cake is TO DIE FOR!! Make reservations in order to get in on this southern gem.

I have to give credit to the coconut cake!!! It was phenomenal. The food was very good. The service was not the best. Our server seemed to get irritated with me on two occasions, acting as if I was rushing her, "Just wait until I get the table cleared" when I asked what dessert was on the menu. I gave her the benefit of a doubt and still tipped her well, as usual. I will not lie, that rubbed me the wrong way for the rest of the experience so that could be why I am not raving about the food. Other than that, I would go back. Go for the coconut cake!!!!

My husband and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at the peninsula grill. It was a perfect evening evening. They were able to accommodate our request to sit in the garden. It was a beautiful setting. It seemed like everyone, from the hostess, our wonderful waitress, the manager and even other servers wished us happy 25th anniversary . It was a nice touch. Even our dessert plate had happy 25th anniversary written in chocolate on the rim of the plate. It was a very special night for us and you all made even more special. Thank you so much. We really appreciated it.

The courtyard is lovely. We found the indoor dining room to be very noisy and would not want to dine there. We had a pleasant wait at the bar, as we arrived early for our reservation. The food is amazing; the zucchini soup alone is worth the trip. I would return when I visit Charleston.

After looking forward to this dining experience, my wife and I were very impressed by the beautiful entrance to this lovely restaurant and the exquisite dining room. However, for the price of our entire meal which was well over the 200 mark, we were not wowed. The fish as a dinner special was just OK. In fact, everything was just fair in quality and taste. The superior service staff did not match the food which could have been served at any mediocre restaurant. Must have been an off night, but we were disappointed. Had 2 superior meals elsewhere for far less.

Our first visit to Charleston, SC and we celebrated our anniversary at Penninsula Grill. Everything about the restaurant was fantastic. The menu was excellent, our server, Danielle, was very helpful with her recommendations. The jumbo lump crab and fried green tomato appetizer was one of the best dishes I've ever had. Two excellent entrees including a grouper special, all topped off by their signature coconut cake with Happy Anniversary written in chocolate on the serving plate. Thanks for a memorble evening!

Elegant restaurant with outstanding food and an amazing atmosphere. Our party enjoyed a wide variety of foods from scallops, lobster, grouper to lamp chops. The appetizers and desserts were awesome. It was a shame that due to the weather we had to eat in the dining room. The dining room is very nice but the outside is very romantic with the trees and lights. The wait staff is very attentive in a positive way. A restaurant that you need to add to your Charleston must do list.

We were expecting a great evening at the Peninsula Grill and were not disappointed! Everything was great from the wait service (Dana and his team), the Martinis, the oysters, Dana's wine recommendation, the scallops and finally the excellent dessert (Coconut Creme Cake)! The entire meal was excellently paced. We didn't feel rushed, nor were we waiting for our next course. It is a little pricey but I would say it was worth it.

My husband and I had a lovely dinner here. We started with the oyster rockefeller and it was very good. We each had soup, myself the oyster stew and he the shecrab, both very tasty. For entrees I had the red grouper special which was great and he had the strip steak with peppercorn sauce (the steak is where the one star came off, he said it wasn't as flavorful a piece as he was hoping). We of course had the coconut cake for dessert which was everything everyone says it to be. We sat outside and it was delightful, our service was wonderful as well.
