This is my new favorite restaurant. Everything was just perfect. Our server was extremely helpful. We took his recommendation for the entire meal. Tomato and mozzarella salad to start. Very fresh Tomatoes with a light olive oil and fresh basil. Corkscrew pasta with crab, and vegetable risotto with prawns as a second course. Both of these were to die for.... could have stopped here. However, I wanted to try the fish of the day. It was a black bass with a white wine sauce. It was delicious. So glad I tried it. This will be our regular stop when in Chicago! Service is top notch.

Chef Mauro personally greeted us and apologized for the reservation back up due to rain. Our waiter was happy to deliver our request for Macaroni Gorgonzola, which was not on the menu. The presentation for Mauro's Vittelo Tonnato was beautiful, and all of our main courses were delicious (Homemade sausage wrapped with Chicken, Whole Snapper and Rabbit).

I really expected more for what we were paying for. Our server was very condescending and he frowned and replied "this isn't Maggiano's" when I asked if splitting an appetizer and getting an individual pasta & entree was too much food. We've been to Italy, we realize how dinner works there, but I don't think it's unreasonable to ask! Appetizer was squid stuffed with vegetables. It was so bland and stuffed with almost raw celery and carrots! Terrible! We enjoyed the veal ravioli with pistachio sauce, the pasta with lamb ragu, the veal chop, and the rolled pig and duck. We got the cookie ring filled with Mascarpone and sorbet for dessert. Meh... Not that flavorful and only a couple bites worth. Overall, it is overpriced for what you get.

We dined again at Pelago on 8/23. It was a wonderful evening. We have always enjoyed the many tastes the menu offers, and this time we tried four different pastas. Each was excellent, and the variety made for a fun and satisfying dinner. We always love the black truffle fettuccine and white asparagus risotto. Add to those a chef's special macheroni and a taglieatelle with lamb and a white ragu. We were very happy. When you add in a truly high level of service, attention to us as individuals, and the warmth we receive from so many of the staff it is easy to understand why we continue to come back to Pelago time and again.

Service was fast, rushed, and over within an hour. The servers were aplenty--3 main waiters and two or three assistants? Seemed overbearing and was intrusive. We stayed in the hotel (Raffaelo) so it was to be a pleasant dinner. Had we known this would have been the outcome of our evening, I'm sure we could have found better service and fare within blocks.

Chef Mauro Mafrici brings a new level of cuisine, service and ambiance to Chicago's Gold Coast. With its name and food a nod to the Italian love affair with the sea, think of of Sorrento or Portofino, with the sophistication of Manhattan. The food is creative and outstanding, the service world class, and the beautiful blue highlighted room a testimony to Chef Mauro's focus on the sea. If you truly appreciate truly fine dining, Pelago is not to be missed.

Pelago has a wonderful outdoor section, and we dined outside on this trip to the restaurant. As always, the food was delicious. My wife had the grilled octopus antipasti, and it was delicious. Our entrees were exceptional, and the 2nd course pasta dish was better than everything else. The only drain on the evening was the traffic passing by. Some five double decker excursion buses passed while we dined, plus two party buses dropped at least 50 people off at the Hotel Raffeello (sic?) for something. All of the traffic diminished the great food and ambience.

The setting and service were very good. A nice wine list with prices in an acceptable range. The food was just average. My wife and i chose their specials the halibut was good but the veal shank lack any real flavor. the risotto we order was tasty but lacked the creamy smoothness i prefer. Overall just an average experience.

Pelago has always been one of our favorite 'special occasion' restaurants. Our most recent visit left us disappointed though. The food is very good and the service was attentive but the bill was much higher than I remember it being in the past. I really like Pelago, but I think the prices are a bit inflated.

This was a delicious dinner and the service was good. The only complaint would be that the wait staff was a little bit 'hovering'. A great selection on the menu of unique items and tried and true favorites. I would return for the stuffed squid appetizer anytime. They were very knowledgable and helpful with gluten free options. Their Gluten free pasta is delicious. We took our 3 teenage daughters as a decadent end of summer night out and they thoroughly enjoyed the upscale experience.

The food at Pelago is fantastic and the room is lovely. We shared veal-stuffed ravioli with pistachio sauce and penne with sausage and green peas, both of which were outstanding and an entrée (sea bream). Our waiter was at first very enthusiastic and helpful with ordering wine, but told us more than once that the traditional Italian way to eat was to order appetizers, primi piatti and entrees. As none of the three us of was interested in that much food, we declined. Once it became apparent we were not going to order everything, our waiter went AWOL. The sides we ordered never came, even after we told another server that we had ordered them. They arrived as they were clearing the table. Were it not for the service, it would be 5 stars.

Beautiful, elegant room. Warm welcome, great service. Food was a mix of very good and just ok. Grilled octopus was chewy and tough. We did chef's tasting. Risotto cooked perfectly al dente, white asparagus and saffron were superior to the one with too sharp (acid) tomato flavor. Pasta course was mixed, maccheronicini with lamb ragu and gnochetti with tomato were nothing special, while the taralli with sausage and peas and the garganelli with braised hen were incredible! Beef was bland and not very tender, pork and duck were good. Branzino was very overly salted, skin was mushy and unappetizing. Grouper and salmon were very delicious. Dessert sampler was wonderful. Considering VERY high tab and reviews, expected to be wowed but were not.

My husband and I celebrated our 14 year anniversary there. I had mentioned it to the bartender while I was having a cocktail waiting on the arrival of my husband. He must have informed our wait staff because when dessert came "Happy Anniversary" was written on the plate in chocolate. Such a nice gesture. The sea bass that was on the menu just melted in your mouth and was cooked to perfection. My husband had one of the specials that night (duck rolled in pork) and he loved it. The cookie ring filled with marscapone cheese and fruit is one of the best desserts I have ever had. Everything was exsquite. I cant think of anything that I would improve upon food or service wise.

What a surprise to chose this restaurant for a mini-reunion lunch for 3 old friends from high school and have the entire restaurant to ourselves - for the entire lunch hour! We arrived at 11:45 and departed at 2:15 and we were the only customers inside the entire restaurant. The wait service was overwhelming and at times just 'too much'? The only problem was when our waiter went to ring up our charges on our credit cards and he just couldn't seem to figure out how to do it - took way too long and we had to forgo a leisurely walk to our booked CAF river cruise to needing to catch a cab asap.
