  • "Immediately upon entering, the host (possibly manager/owner?) was sooo accommodating seeing as we were 20mins late for our reservation. Really nice staff the entire night. Food and drinks were prompt. Decor/lighting was extremely sweet. Food was just alright. Had the cod, octopus, grilled veggies, green beans, seafood stew. Tried sage and tonic cocktail, also was just so-so. They had a vday special cocktail which was probably the best thing we tried there. Thank you for an enjoyable experience service wise. But based on the food alone, we most likely won't be returning."

  • "Terrible experience. We came on a deal from gilt city which, granted, gave us a set menu and said that it was subject to change but when we asked to switch out of items that we had no interest in, they would not budge. They told us we could get different things ON TOP of the 3 course and drink menu that we were already getting at full price and could not substitute even for a fee. The meal was just fine, totally plain - could've gotten it anywhere - and we were incredibly disappointed. They could've up-sold us, had us spend more $, which we would've happily done - instead they made sure that we would never return to this restaurant. Terrible management."

  • "This is probably the tiniest restaurant I've ever eaten in. That being said, don't let size fool you. The food here is excellent. The menu is fairly brief and the selections few compared to most restaurants but what they do, they do well. The prawns were cooked to perfection (be prepared, you get the whole thing) with delectable seasoning. The Ceasar salad had beautiful white anchovies and a dressing with a hint of fruit - very unusual. Our main course was baked cod which literally melted in your mouth like butter. No need for a knife because it broke into chunks with a fork. All in all, a fabulous meal! Oh, and the Savignon Blanc was one of the best I've had. We'll definitely be returning to this little gem!!"

  • "It was so lovely to find a genuine tapas bar in New York. Here all the focus is on making you feel welcome and providing outstanding food without unnecessary pretension. We made a mistake on which day we had booked however the owner was charming and made a table available for us 30 minutes later. This is an intimate but busy place; the space is tiny, the kitchen is on display and the chef is so close that we had a great chat to him at the end of the night. It was clear everyone enjoyed working here and that directly flowed onto how we well we were treated and the quality of the food."

  • "Our friend recommended this. The place is very small. Tables for 4 are cramped. The servers were lovely - attentive and helpful. Ours was new, I believe, and had to check with the kitchen/bar to answer some questions, but was very pleasant. I had the Zarzuela which was great. My wife liked it so much she ordered it later in the meal. (Given the tapas slant here, that's an acceptable thing to do.) Her's, however, wasn't as good as mine! The salad was a bit vinegary too. The wine, even given the relatively healthy portion, seemed expensive."

  • "Went there on Monday night. Food was fabulous. Must order pulpo, very good cod, perfectly done lamb, good calamari and crunchy string beans. Good live music; the woman had great voice. Service could improve a little (duplicate wine delivered to the table which was returned but showed up on the bill). All in all a great place to visit again."

  • "After missing the tapas from Spain we finally made it to Peix and it was like we were transported right back to San Sebastian ...oh the food is heavenly and truly authentic Spanish tapas...every dish was fabulous and the food so fresh! The chef and staff are very friendly and the size and layout of the space is just right to get the personal and intimate vibe one likes in a neighborhood tapas restaurant."
