Diner Reviews
  • "Pro: Delicious, well-prepared, authentic food; attentive bus staff. Con: Inattentive waiter, does not serve pita with spreads (a first for us)."

  • "Restaurant was very quiet with just a couple other tables busy. According to the servers the upstairs area was hopping but we didn't check it out. We shared saganaki to start and it was good. The waiter recommended the same chicken dish to four of the group who were getting chicken. He recommended the special red snapper over the salmon. We trusted his recommendations and all enjoyed the food."

  • "This restaurant was recommended by a friend. We had a party of 10 and were a little disappointed that the roof did not have heaters so we opted to sit inside. The appetizers were the best part of the meal. I thought it was a little odd that they served regular bread instead of pita bread. When we asked for pita the waiter said he had to charge us for it but we ordered it anyway. The entrees were just okay but I would return if in Chicago again. The desserts were good; baklava and bread pudding. Nico, our waiter, was very good."

  • "I was extremely disappointed when the waiter refused to allow my wife, a vegetarian, to order the pork souvlaki without pork. He insisted that holding the pork was a "substitution" which was not allowed. While I enjoyed my food, it is unlikely we will return when dozens of restaurants in Greektown are more than happy to accommodate a vegetarian, especially when it can be done as easily as removing a few pieces of pork from skewers, serving only the skewered vegetables, and then charging the same amount."

  • "This was our third or fourth visit to Pegasus. The food is always good and the service as well. This time, however, our waiter, Christos, made our dining experience exceptional. We were a party of eight and he was attentive to all especially a few of our more finicky friends. If something was a bit different than what was expected he made it right. The group tried different appetizers because he explained what they were and what to expect. Several of our friends said they found their new favorite Greek place."

  • "Great Experience....went for the rooftop but the rain prevented that but had a great seat next to the open window with the best waitperson I have had in a long time....couple that with the great selection of fish, it was a near perfect evening."

  • "We had dinner before concert last night, and did not have that much time. Service, and specialy our waitress were great! Her name was Marvina(I think) was very friendly, helpful and patient! We will go back there, soon!"

  • "Great food and reasonable prices make this restaurant a must visit when in Chicago"

  • "I had gone to Pegasus for lunch and loved it and brought a large group of family from out-of-town for dinner. Restaurant was fairly empty and service was great and attentive but the food was disappointing from the small plates for lunch and on the roof top. Moussaka was really starchy and heavy compared to normal. Was disappointing."

  • "The traditional Greek food was exactly as it should be, served in a friendly atmosphere. If you are ethnic-food deprived as I am in my hometown, this is a great fix at a reasonable price."

  • "It was my birthday and they couldn't have made me feel more special. The food was delicious, my entire party full enjoyed the service and ambiance not to mention very affordably priced. We'll definitely go back again! The owner Caesar is just great!"

  • "We had some great food at Pegasus, we were very pleased! There was a very large group there the same time we were, so our table of 4 did not get the attention we would have liked. They were slow to take our order and bring our check. Otherwise, we had a great time! The staff is very friendly and makes you feel like you are a regular and part of their group. We would definitely go back."

  • "I often come here when in the city, and I have never had a bad meal. Service is usually exceptional, and the menu is diverse. The lamb is a standout here."

  • "My husband and I have been here before, but it had been a long time. Obviously, free valet is great. Upon entry into the restaurant we were welcomed by several different employees, everyone so friendly. We had the saganaki, which was delicious, and I had the chicken stuffed with spinach and feta, which was great and my husband had the greek chicken and that too was great. We will be back."

  • "The food and service at Pegasus is always good. However, this time in spite of a 6:30 reservation we waited a long while for a table. Perhaps not to go on a saturday night over a holiday weekend."

  • "Wonderful experience! While the decor is not quite as extensive as neighboring greektown spots, the food and service were second to none!!"

  • "there to celebrate a graduation, requested a window table Reservations for 5, but one person had to work, but the table was still being prepped when we arrived and they knew only 4 people. We sat by the window, had ordered a round of drinks, wine, etc so it was not right away, when the manager came up and scolded us loudly for using 2 tables when he could make 2 tables for 4. We offered to wait but he insisted we move to another table tho they had it done in less than 3 minutes He never apologized, or anything else. Really? I have never ever had a restaurant owner move a table they had already seated. Its not like they were full either. Greek town is full of options. "

  • "Excellent place for date-night. Great ambiance, wonderful service and fantastic food."

  • "The food was typical for Greek Town, and very good! The service was, however, lacking. With so many waiters walking around, we shouldn't need to ask for things like extra bread or water"

  • "Perfect spot for dinner before the Hawks or Bulls game. Very welcoming owner and efficient friendly staff. Classic Greek food prepared very well. Favorite spot for Greek food cravings. "

  • "We dined with a client group of 10 on an early weeknight recently and to a person we left Pegasus fat and happy! Try the flaming cheese:-) Wait staff was very attentive too. "

  • "We enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Great location with a view of Downtown Chicago. The waiter misunderstood my order and brought me the wrong item. However, when I told him what happened, he was able to quickly get me a new order (no additional charge). We just love your Saganaki (flaming cheese). The entrees and desserts were great too. We will be back."

  • "While Pegasus makes really good gyros, and other Greek standards, be sure to try some mew dishes. For us, that was shrimp and feta appetizer - outstanding. Trust your wait staff, open wide and enjoy."

  • "I haven't been to Chicago much recently so I took my daughter and son-in-law for dinner. It was Marvelous. The food was great and the service outstanding. The baklava topped everything off with just the right amount of sweetness. If I lived there I'd go at least once a month!"

  • "The food was not very good , especially for the price!"

  • "Been coming here since 1999! Love this place! It's my favorite moussaka in the city because they place the potato on the side which makes for a lighter serving if you choose. This has now become our occasion/go-to spot for a nice contently-filling meal in the neighborhood, and we always make it a point to bring guests here if we get a chance."

  • "I felt like I was in a diner. The lights were so bright that it didn't seem like we were having a nice dinner out. Our server, Dino, was great. I ordered the special lamb shank with a lemon dill sauce and it was relish. My husband had the special grouper. I had a taste and was disappointed. For dessert we split baklava and it was not the best. It just didn't seem fresh. With other Greek restaurants so close, this would not be my first choice."

  • "Pegasus is a great Greek Town staple. They were a bit packed tonight and our waitress was definitely less attentive than preferred. The manager made a stop by at the table at one point to chat about the wine list and olive oil making process which was really friendly. Gave us a free baklava for a birthday dessert."

  • "Went to Pegasus before a Blackhawk game... Food and Service were Both superb.... Well priced wine List.... Complimentary valet parking.... Was not rushed and out in plent of time to make it to the United Center... This is a no brainer....... You'll love Pegasus"

  • "Food and service were awesome. We had a great time. The family style is the way to go."
    Dined on 3/3/2014
  • "Pegasus is a good choice for dining with a large group. The staff is friendly and outgoing, thrilled to offer advice, and fairly heavy-handed when pushing the daily specials. This would be ok, but the specials are not always the best option. It's a much better idea to go with the more than competent executions of classics like gyros, spanakopita, moussaka, kotopoulo souvlaki, etc."

  • "Whether it's for a business lunch, date night or group event, Pegasus delivers wonderful, authentic Greek cuisine in a relaxing and friendly environment every time. It's our favorite in Greek Town and we've tried them all."

  • "This was our first time at this restaurant in Greek Town. We have frequented others many times. Overall feel of the space was very cold and generic. The host and we assume owner was very nice and accommodating however the waitress was terrible. Short tempered and very unfriendly and that was reflected in the service. The food was very average with the salads being the best part, plain lettuce with Greek dressing. If it wasn't for the convenience of the location and proximity to the United Center, we would not recommend this over any number of far better restaurants in the area."

  • "Wasn't sure what to expect. The ambiance is clean but somewhat over the top / cheesy Greek design. Very large restaurant so it never felt "busy" and we were there on a Friday night. The server was somewhat pushy but honest and dead on when it came to what was good and what wasn't. Tough to get a special order or any sort of modification out of him. At one point we asked if they had a specific item and he said, "in Greece you can get that, we do not serve it here". Surprisingly though, the food was great. I don't plan on going back, but I wasn't disappointed that I went."

  • "We've been to Pegasus for both lunch and dinner numerous time and have never had a bad experience. The food is always great with lots of variety (beef, lamb, chicken, seafood, veggie). The servers always treat you like welcomed family. We've never sat on the roof during nice weather but will definitly do that this year. The scenic view is the inside. It's bright and fresh and feels like Greece. We can't comment on the bar or wine service - we really aren't drinkers although it has a nice bar area. We go for the food and atmosphere and are never disappointed. The prices are very reasonable which makes the experience even better (as does the complimentary parking - not sure if that's all the time but it's been everytime we've been there.)"

  • "Delightful owner and pushy but good server who had good sense of humor. Gyros and special Tzatziki sauce was outstanding. Most other dishes were fine but not exceptional"

  • "After eating among different restaurants in Greektown, I would say the food rates average. Nothing over the top, just a good place to get your basics. The cocktail menu is pretty innovative though, and we enjoyed a few really good suggested drinks before dinner. For dinner, the grilled octopus is OK, and the Alexander Salata is a little different than the original dressing we had at Alexander's Restaurant on 79th Street back in the day. Probably wouldn't get it again. The moussaka is OK, but we like Greek Islands version better."
