A word from Peculiar Rabbit
The Peculiar Rabbit is officially open! The Peculliar Rabbit is an American farm-to-fork gastropub. Gastropub has taken on a lot of different meanings in the last few years but we like to think of ourselves as a food-forward neighborhood pub. We take traditional English fare and infuse it with
southern ingredients from local suppliers. While our menu is more culturally diverse than straight English fare, the common denominator of our offerings is our attention to culinary fundamentals; our focus on our craft. Our hope is to create a unique dining experience for our guests in our lovely dining and bar areas. That being said, as we are still blossoming as a business and neighbor we look forward to any feedback our guests have regarding their visits with us. All of your feedback assists us in focusing our energies and growing in the direction we need to so we can provide you with exceptional service and food that is extraordinary.

Food was delicious and had a fun
atmosphere- we has drinks outside before heading to dinner inside."

Really good food. My salmon was
cooked perfectly. Only complaint was that they didn't read the table and bring things out as we were finishing. We felt aittle rushed as the dinner came out quickly and we hadn't finished the apps."
Dined on 7/8/2014
we would certainly revisit this
place. The food was outstanding. we had 5 people, apps, dinner and drinks...out the door for $185.00. You can't beat it...period..."

Must go for the rooftop and summer
air. By far the best thing in the plaza."

This is the second time we have
been to Peculiar Rabbit for brunch. Last time, a server never came to our table and we had to ask hostess for a server. This time, our server kept passing by and said he would be right with us -- several times. We finally placed our order and then had to wait and wait for the food. The waiter said the kitchen was really backed up and apologized. It was Fathers Day but there were several empty tables in our area. Management should realize that Fathers Day Brunch might be a little busy and plan kitchen staff accordingly. After we were finished, our waiter offered to "buy us a couple of drinks" for having to wait so long. By that time, we were ready to go and didn't want a drink. We won't be going back."

I had made reservations stating
that it was my husbands birthday. They did not know and when I mentioned that I would like a desert for celebration, the hostess got me the manager and the manger who came to the table was very rude and loud. she did get us the brownie but her rudness took the fun out."
Dined on 6/17/2014
I must say this has been a great
dinner for me and my guest. 5 stars from me we will be coming back. Keep up the good work."

Great place to take Dad for
Father's day. We all enjoyed our food and service was good. Great place and I've always enjoyed going there. So accommodating no matter what your party size."
Dined on 6/15/2014
We tried this restaurant after
finding it on Open Table. It was OK, but I wouldn't make a special trip to go back. The building is neat. The menu was creative. Our waitress was uninterested. The shrimp and grits was quite salty and soupy. A personal pet peeve, the pink mold growing in it tells me the ladies' toilet hadn't been cleaned in a while."
Dined on 6/14/2014
I love this place and have never
had a bad experience. I had the schnitzel for dinner this time; it was good, but I prefer some of the other dishes (the meatloaf is outstanding!)."

Great evening outside; good food
and service. Looking forward to coming back and bringing friends. Enjoyed our evening out at Peculiar Rabbit!"

I hate having to review "the
rabbit" so poorly, this is a favorite place, usually. Food was just ok at bedt and service was terrible this past Sunday June 1. I was there with a friend for his birthday, made reservations and requested rooftop, which we got. Once up there it took at least ten min for the sever to acknowledge us, we were asked if we wanted a drink, ordered a mimosa and Bloody Mary. We were both hungry, so we ordered our meal. Literally, food came out within five minutes, before our drinks, I ordered two poached eggs w/ English muffin and friend ordered Egg Bene. Obviously everything was pre made, usually takes much longer to poach. And eng muffin was cold. Did not get catsup, had to take from other table. Thinking twice now! "

Friends had recommended PR several
months ago but we had not visited it until this weekend. The food was outstanding and the ambience was outstanding. Service was above average. This has moved into our top 10 Charlotte restaurants and we will return soon."

We sat on the rooftop and enjoyed
the view. The food looked beautiful, but we found it lacked flavor. We ordered the bacon wrapped figs which we thought would be better with an extra fig and without the oily bread under it. The suause on top of it was pretty, but lack taste and felt oily. I ordered the lamb burger which came on a pita. The comercial pita was disappointing. "

We were visiting family in
Charlotte who recommended Peculiar Rabbit for lunch on the roof top. Everything was great except for the heat! The roof top does not offer table umbrellas so lunchtime dining when it is sunny and warm can feel like you jumped into the frying pan. Would recommended going for breakfast or after sunset during the Spring/Summer season if you want a roof top view. The restaurant does have umbrella tables at the street level. Overall, nice experience."

Food was great when this place
opened but now it is just okay - nothing great."
Dined on 5/23/2014
Meat loaf was delicious. Cheese
cake with mango habanero sauce was excellent. Friendly wait staff with great service. "
Dined on 5/13/2014
We had a great brunch this
morning! The menu for Sunday brunch is fabulous! My husband had the American breakfast! He enjoyed it very much. Everything was cooked to perfection! I had the chicken, bacon, Brie salad. It was delicious. I had hoped for more bacon and Brie, but it was a delicious salad. I added a cup if fruit, $4...a smidgen over priced for what I received. Too bad it was before noon on a Sunday. We couldn't drink...but we look forward to going back again sometime that we can! "
Dined on 5/18/2014
The brunch menu is pretty good but
I prefer the regular menu much more. Could also use some umbrellas on the rooftop bar. Little hot and dragnet with no shade at times. Great place to sit. Not so great with no shade. "
Dined on 5/11/2014
We have eaten at PR several times,
and I have to say that we go purely for the food, outside seating, and live music. However, I have never had decent service. This past weekend I think our waiter was high. He forgot our drink orders, and couldn't give any decent recommendations or answer questions. Pretty disappointing. "
Dined on 5/2/2014
Fantastic view from the roof, but
the food was pub fare. I had the spaetzle which came out as a somewhat dry piece of fried chicken with the spaetzle on top. We still like the the PR, but they need to raise the bar on the food, or just end up another Midwood bar with a great rooftop patio. "

We were visiting and found this on
open table. You will not be disappointed."

Went with a group of co-workers
after work for dinner. The ambiance was great, the views were fantastic but the food was mediocre. Two co-workers ordered the same salad and one recevied have of the items on the salad, I ordered a meidum well burger with no bun and a side salad with dressing on the side, I recevied a well done burger with bun and dressing on the salad. Our drinks took over 15 mintues to get to us. Recommend if youre looking for a good ambiance and drinks but do not recommend the food. "

Wonderful Easter brunch! Alwways
enjoy our meal here!"
Dined on 4/20/2014
The lettuces in out salads were
wilted, tables were not bussed for hours as we sat outside, service was lacking. I have given this place 3 tries and I am disappointed each time. I do not believe it is any one person, it's the team. I will not be back unless it is simply for drinks and fries (and possibly the Mediterranean plate)! I had written a much more detailed and constructive review, however the length maxed out the allotted characters. I hope you all grow in the future!"
Dined on 4/13/2014
The food was great, appetizer came
out quickly, our server was sweet but then our dinner took an hour and 15 minutes which we found highly unacceptable. We went on a Saturday night, am positive this isn't the first time the restaurant was crowded on a Saturday night. We were highly disappointed in how long it took our meals to come out. Made no sense at all. Our server brought out a round of complimentary drinks but at that point we wanted food, not another round. We would give the Peculiar Rabbit one more chance but that's it."
Dined on 4/12/2014
Met some friends for dinner and we
were able to get seating in the roof with the gorgeous view if the Charlotte skyline. The food and the service were food. I would absolutely see this as a repeat experience."
Dined on 3/31/2014
Everyone was very accommodating,
the food was fantastic, and the beer list was suitable for everyone. I will definitely be back."
Dined on 3/22/2014
I have been several times and have
loved it. This past time the food was just ok and some of the items I loved have been taken off the menu. The pork sliders I ordered had icing on the top... like a krispy kreme donut. Although it seems like a unique idea it just didn't work. Our waitress was not very patient with us or willing to help out. We asked for 2 tastings of beer and she asked us if we could just taste each others!?! She was busy and definitely did not want to make extra trips to our table. We asked if they could turn down the TV next to us because the volume was very loud but they never did. Overall, the experience was just ok. Their selection of beer is impressive and some dishes are good but for the money it's not worth it."
Dined on 3/14/2014
We went to peculiar rabbit for
dessert and wine on a Tuesday night. This experience took about two hours. They were out if the wine I wanted, the service was terrible, slow and unapologetic and the dessert (a farm to table restaurant) was frozen!"
Dined on 3/11/2014
Second time here. Made
reservations via opentable app and worked out great. Table was ready on time and everyone there was helpful."
Dined on 3/8/2014
This was my second time eating
here and I really wanted to like it. My first time was very disappointing (salty or bland food and bad services) and although our services was great this time, I still left disappointed. I keep hearing great things, but PR hasn't really lived up to it's reputation. Overall, their prices are high for the portion size and only 1 person at our table really enjoyed their food. I do like to come here for drinks and will continue to do so (they have a great roof top view), but will refrain from eating here again."
Dined on 3/8/2014
Went for a birthday dinner, which
I mentioned in my reservation. The staff made our guest of honor feel very special throughout the evening. The atmosphere is relaxed and eclectic, the architecture and interior design is interesting and surprises await around every corner. The menu is both large and broad with familiar favorites and intriguing items for the adventurous. A nice hardwood firepit on the front plaza and a panoramic view of the Charlotte skyline from the upstairs veranda add a really nice touch to the restaurant. Our server was knew the helpful with food selections and knew the menu well. I recommend a visit to the PR to anyone"

When the Rabbit first opened I was
thrilled; innovative food, decent prices, both quality beer and wine and great decor. We used to go quite frequently. The other night my husband I went, forgetting that the reason we had stopped going is because we were increasingly disappointed. Service is painfully slow at times, the prices have gone up and the quality of food has gone down. Less creative, smaller portions, mediocre preparation. My salad had very little in it but far too much dressing, my husband's dish had what appeared to be and tasted like thin, inedible sticks and very little of substance to actually eat. I suspect that will be our last meal; also the wine is now overpriced."
Dined on 3/7/2014
The food and service were great.
Like all restaurants these days, it is too loud. I didn't recommend it for groups for that reason- hard to hear each other. We didn't dine on the rooftop or patio, but I bet those would be the place to go in nice weather. Felt the menu was strong for brunch and very reasonable. Waitress was great."
Dined on 2/23/2014
My husband and I love the Rabbit.
We were a little sad that the devil's on horseback weren't on the menu - but we had the Mediterranean plate and that was wonderful. Great value for the price too. I was jealous of my husband's burger - I had the arancini... it was ok, but I should have got a burger! We'll definitely be back. :)"
Dined on 2/21/2014
Food tasted good, however, the
menu descriptions did not match the food presented for both entree and dessert. A little disappointed because you expect one thing and get something completely different."
Dined on 8/17/2013
I Love, Love, Love Peculiar
Rabbit!!!! The atmosphere is awesome, the staff is amazing. I love the brunch! $3 Mimosas are amazing for Sunday! This is such gem in Plaza Midwood and the rooftop view of the Charlotte Skyline is the best in town!"
Dined on 2/9/2014
You can never go wrong...the staff
get a little overwhelmed with tables it seems at times, but excellent."
Dined on 1/12/2014
Went to The Peculiar Rabbit during
restaurant week. The bisque, ribs, collards and bread pudding were excellent! Service was fast and friendly. Definitely want to go back again and will recommend to friends."
