A word from Peculiar Rabbit
The Peculiar Rabbit is officially open! The Peculliar Rabbit is an American farm-to-fork gastropub. Gastropub has taken on a lot of different meanings in the last few years but we like to think of ourselves as a food-forward neighborhood pub. We take traditional English fare and infuse it with southern ingredients from local suppliers. While our menu is more culturally diverse than straight English fare, the common denominator of our offerings is our attention to culinary fundamentals; our focus on our craft. Our hope is to create a unique dining experience for our guests in our lovely dining and bar areas. That being said, as we are still blossoming as a business and neighbor we look forward to any feedback our guests have regarding their visits with us. All of your feedback assists us in focusing our energies and growing in the direction we need to so we can provide you with exceptional service and food that is extraordinary.

  • "The lettuces in out salads were wilted, tables were not bussed for hours as we sat outside, service was lacking. I have given this place 3 tries and I am disappointed each time. I do not believe it is any one person, it's the team. I will not be back unless it is simply for drinks and fries (and possibly the Mediterranean plate)! I had written a much more detailed and constructive review, however the length maxed out the allotted characters. I hope you all grow in the future!"

  • "The food was great, appetizer came out quickly, our server was sweet but then our dinner took an hour and 15 minutes which we found highly unacceptable. We went on a Saturday night, am positive this isn't the first time the restaurant was crowded on a Saturday night. We were highly disappointed in how long it took our meals to come out. Made no sense at all. Our server brought out a round of complimentary drinks but at that point we wanted food, not another round. We would give the Peculiar Rabbit one more chance but that's it."

  • "I have been several times and have loved it. This past time the food was just ok and some of the items I loved have been taken off the menu. The pork sliders I ordered had icing on the top... like a krispy kreme donut. Although it seems like a unique idea it just didn't work. Our waitress was not very patient with us or willing to help out. We asked for 2 tastings of beer and she asked us if we could just taste each others!?! She was busy and definitely did not want to make extra trips to our table. We asked if they could turn down the TV next to us because the volume was very loud but they never did. Overall, the experience was just ok. Their selection of beer is impressive and some dishes are good but for the money it's not worth it."

  • "This was my second time eating here and I really wanted to like it. My first time was very disappointing (salty or bland food and bad services) and although our services was great this time, I still left disappointed. I keep hearing great things, but PR hasn't really lived up to it's reputation. Overall, their prices are high for the portion size and only 1 person at our table really enjoyed their food. I do like to come here for drinks and will continue to do so (they have a great roof top view), but will refrain from eating here again."

  • "Went for a birthday dinner, which I mentioned in my reservation. The staff made our guest of honor feel very special throughout the evening. The atmosphere is relaxed and eclectic, the architecture and interior design is interesting and surprises await around every corner. The menu is both large and broad with familiar favorites and intriguing items for the adventurous. A nice hardwood firepit on the front plaza and a panoramic view of the Charlotte skyline from the upstairs veranda add a really nice touch to the restaurant. Our server was knew the helpful with food selections and knew the menu well. I recommend a visit to the PR to anyone"

  • "When the Rabbit first opened I was thrilled; innovative food, decent prices, both quality beer and wine and great decor. We used to go quite frequently. The other night my husband I went, forgetting that the reason we had stopped going is because we were increasingly disappointed. Service is painfully slow at times, the prices have gone up and the quality of food has gone down. Less creative, smaller portions, mediocre preparation. My salad had very little in it but far too much dressing, my husband's dish had what appeared to be and tasted like thin, inedible sticks and very little of substance to actually eat. I suspect that will be our last meal; also the wine is now overpriced."

  • "The food and service were great. Like all restaurants these days, it is too loud. I didn't recommend it for groups for that reason- hard to hear each other. We didn't dine on the rooftop or patio, but I bet those would be the place to go in nice weather. Felt the menu was strong for brunch and very reasonable. Waitress was great."

  • "My husband and I love the Rabbit. We were a little sad that the devil's on horseback weren't on the menu - but we had the Mediterranean plate and that was wonderful. Great value for the price too. I was jealous of my husband's burger - I had the arancini... it was ok, but I should have got a burger! We'll definitely be back. :)"

  • "We went to Peculiar Rabbit on a Sunday evening for my husband's birthday with seven friends. Our server Blake was very attentive and knowledgeable about the wine list and menu. Sunday was 1/2 off bottles of wine and he suggested a couple of moderately priced bottles that were amazing. The food was exceptional. Most of us ordered from the pre-set menu for Restaurant Week. The mac and cheese, calamari, Scottish egg appetizers were among the standouts. For dinner we ordered an extra entrée because everyone wanted to try the Krisby Kreme pulled pork sliders -- soooo good. The food was creative and fun. We had a great time and all agreed we want to come back when it's warmer to check out the roof deck views of Charlotte."

  • "Our waiter was Ren! He was phenomenal. My friend and I went there to enjoy Charlotte Queen Feast. The food first course was FABULOUS, however, the Second Course had more to be desired.....the greens were too sweet and the salmon my friend had was not seasoned well. The THIRD COURSE was great! I would definitely go again....and Ren our waiter was great!"

  • "We happened to go during Restaurant Week and ended up choosing that menu. I thought the Waldorf Salad was excellent, though my husband said that on his there was a big glob of dressing on one part and none on the rest. The dessert (chocolate car bomb) was also really good. My entree, however, (Chicken Osso Bucco) was terrible. It was paired with polenta and overall, the dish was just tasteless and bland. My husband got the Wild Mushroom Arancini, which he also said was pretty tasteless except for the horseradish that was included. The service was excellent and we sat upstairs at a very pleasant corner table by the windows."

  • "Went during restaurant week, so I hesitate to form a firm opinion from that… but since it wasn't super busy, it may be accurate. Our server was very nice but forgot to bring drinks. Our meals were just ok. Not great, not bad… just ok. The shepherd's pie and carrot bisque were pretty good, but everything else was a little blah. May have just been that we picked things that weren't our taste… it happens... so willing to give it another shot."

Also, my wife's salmon was overcooked, which resulted in the chef promptly preparing a nicely done replacement piece of salmon. My entree, aranchia if my serves me well, was very enjoyable. Overall, our experience was OK yet doubt we'll return."

  • "This was my first time at the restaurant. The food was amazing! I had the Peculiar Pork, there were so many wonderful and surprising flavors in the dish. I was very happy. The only reason I said overall the experience wasn't 5 stars was because there is no parking lot so I had trouble finding parking and it seems like that had trouble regulating the temperature on the patio. It kept going back and forth between comfortable and really cold. Other than that it was a great experience."

  • "the disappointment started right off the gate at the hostess desk. there were 3 ladies but none of them were paying attention. at least when they did, they were polite & the hostess took me to my seat right away. the waiter was very pleasant. the food was just not the best. there were 3 in my party & none of us cleaned our plates. i'm glad I went to see how it was but there's no need for a return visit. the best part of the meal was the beer. but one of the mixed drinks wasn't all that great according to one of my friends."

  • "My husband and I decided to try this place out for our 11 year wedding anniversary and we are extremely happy that we did. The service was fantastic and our waitress knew her way around the menu. The menu also had a few newer items added, including a rabbit dish. We started with the Korean BBQ skewers which we melt in your mouth tender and the quick kimchi was bright and cut through the meat's richness. My husband had the Salmon Noodle Bowl and I opted for the Peculiar Rabbit. Both dishes were outstanding and we finished each bite. Finished with the pumpkin bread pudding, was a nice finish to a great meal. We will definitely be going back."

I wouldn't get the $30 steak again as the portion size was small, but I will definitely return to try the $13 Fish and Chips.   • "The place is cute and has a good vibe. They were very accommodating.The waiter was dull and acted as though we were inconveniencing him. He took our order for appetizers. There were a few things we ordered that they were out if but the waiter made no apology or suggestions. The Mac and cheese was a big plate and really seemed more of an entree than a starter. It was ok. Kind if bland. The pretzels had a strange texture but the dip was tasty. We were done with our appetizers and had to hunt down or waiter and ask him to take our dinner order. The shepherds pie was ok. The chicken and waffles was very bland tho the Brussels sprouts were perfection! The crab cake sandwich was pretty good. Hummingbird cake was HUGE and tasty."
