This is a local gem that is off the tourist track where all the locals appear to go. Straddling the banks of the Savannah River, there is a deck area that extends out to water's edege ... which is a great venue for watching a sunset while cradling your favorite adult beverage. Their hush puppies are out of this world and they refill as needed. Even though there were a lot of diners, the sound level was relatively quiet. Excellent shrimp (Pearl's Pound) and view of marsh was awesome. Service was excellent other than a long wait for our meal due to a large party of 30 which had placed order just prior to our order. However, the almost two pounds of shrimp that I was served negated the wait for our foods....plus the management apologized for the wait profusely. Pearls Saltwater Grill met our high expectations. Our appetizer (fried-green tomatoes and Cajun-spiced shrimp) and our two meals (crab-stuffed lobster tails and pecan crusted rainbow trout) were well-prepared and the service was excellent. We found the wine selections to be decent and were pleasantly surprised by how good our bottle of New Zealand chardonnay was. Although the atmosphere inside the restaurant was not what I'd consider romantic, the restaurant sits on the bank of the Savannah river and offers a lovely view.3/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFound Pearl's when in SavannahFound Pearl's when in Savannah looking for a more local casual seafood place.Our waitress couldn't have been better, described the dishes perfectly and was attentive to all our needs.
