A word from Pearl Café
Chef-owned and operated, Pearl Cafe is an aptly named jewel of a restaurant serving regional cuisine with a country French accent. The massive beams and peach toned bricks of the historic warehouse provide a warm and inviting atmosphere. Specialties include bison with huckleberry-zinfandel sauce, duckling with dried cherries and pomegranate sauce and beef tenderloin with port and Roquefort. Fresh fish dishes change daily and local products are used whenever possible. The menu is rounded out with a variety of appetizers, soups and salads, house made bread and a list of sinfully delicious desserts. Custom wedding and special occasion cakes are produced in the bakery as well. The restaurant serves wine and beer, with a list of 15 wines by the glass, local draft beer, a broad selection of half bottles and over 100 full bottles.Continued

  • "Great, as always! Delicious food, quiet and intimate."

  • "Whether it's a romantic dinner for two or a celebratory birthday party of six, the staff's welcoming personalities, prompt attention & courtesy service are just the beginning of a memorable dining experience. The menu offers something for all, even the "eccentric eaters". You must go there at least once. Then, you will make it YOUR "special occasion" place!"

  • "We were recently in NYC and ate at several world famous chef's' restaurans. Pearl is best."

  • "We choose Pears for our 33rd anniversary celebration because of our past experience in dining out in Missoula. Most places are so noisy that you almost have to shout to hear each other across the table. We don't eat out very often, but when we do, it is usually associated with a celebration or we are entertaining guests from out of town. Our guests often rave about their experience at Pearls, notably about the wonderful cuisine and the relaxing atmosphere. What really makes Pearls a dining experience is their unique menus, which often includes Montana exquisite delicacies."

  • "My husband and I always enjoy dining at Pearl's place! We are never disappointed in the quality of the food, portion sizes are just right allowing us to sample several items from the menu each time, and I love they offer Prosecco by the glass! This particular visit was an evening with my daughter who is always delighted when mom surprises her with an evening at The Pearl."

  • "One of my favorite places in Missoula. The staff is always very attentive!"

  • "Had a wonderful dinner with friends. We were running late for our reservation and owner "Bob" was very accommodating. Beautiful building, professional staff, impressive wine list with broad menu. We had rabbit, duck & beef filet - all exceptional. The appetizer scallops on the half shell in a light cream sauce were delicious. We had heard it was one of Missoula's best and it did not disappoint."

  • "We are always pleased with the Pearls service and food. A great spot with great food for everyone!"

  • "The Pearl is pricey, but you get what you pay for. Great, fresh food, cooked to perfection and waiters and waitresses that are highly trained. Wonderful, warm atmosphere with soft light. And they were open during one of Missoula's worst winter storms in history, which speaks to their devotion to their work. Thank you, Pearl!"

  • "We've been to Pearl Cafe many times, but this was the best. We had the mussels, seafood grill and deconstructed German chocolate cake for dessert and everything was perfect. We had a wonderful seat upstairs and although the restaurant was busy, the noise level allowed for quiet conversation. I'd say Pearl is getting better and better!"

  • "Our party of 5 gathered to celebrate Valentine's Day, and one another. The Pearl restaurant has attentive staff, a menu that makes choosing entres difficult as there are many wonderful choices. The price is reasonable for the service, ambiance, and most of all the delectable food! I never turn down an invitation to The Pearl."

  • "My husband and I went to the Pearl to celebrate Valentine's Day. Our son had given me a gift certificate to the Pearl for Christmas so we thought we would give it a try. Service was excellent, the atmosphere was surprisingly quiet given that it was very full at the time. Our table was up on the "balcony" and it was very cozy. Our meal was excellent! I had the pork and my husband had the mahi mahi. Both entrees were so tender and flavorful! We will return to the Pearl!"

  • "I love that everytime my husband and I go to the Pearl we are surprised with a new delicacy. Whether it be a different setting in the front of the restaurant, the back, the cozy 2nd floor or outside in the summer, the seating choices keep it fresh. The setting is only the beginning because the choices of delicious treats from a great wine list, escargot, charcuterie, creative soups, seafood, quail, lamb, or rabbit to the "can't pass it up" dessert menu make The Pearl the perfect evening out!"

  • "My husband had trout and liked it. I ordered their rabbit. My food was lukewarm and sent back for warming and returned with no eating utensils. When it was returned, I then tried a bite of the rabbit. It was tasteless and the sauce tasted like one big beef bouillon. It was awful. I was offered something else, and I got their duck, and as before, it was very good. When our plates came to the table the waitress immediately disappeared without offering cracked pepper or anything else we might want. Maybe they were too busy. When it was time to pay the bill, we were informed that our meal was on the house, but we wanted to pay for it, which we did. We have dined here on two other occasions and were pleased, but not this time."

  • "Flourless chocolate torte was one of the best desserts we have ever had. The rest of the meal was very good too."
    Dined on 2/13/2014
  • "Raw pub steak served, had asked for med-rare. Seafood dish tasted like a a can of stewed tomato with a few chunks of seafood, 2 small scallops, though the small lobster tail was nice. I should've asked for a butter side for it. Great atmosphere, though the group next to us was quite noisy. Good service. Won't be back."

  • "The food was wonderful but the server and hostess where very strange. They hardly spoke a word to us, other then what they had to. The server seemed very stiff. This is a great place to go for a celebration. Maybe when we go again we will have more cordial service."

  • "I had trout with crab which was very good. The trout did not have a strong fishy taste. My wife had salmon which was also excellent. Salad was also very good. All in all a great dining experience. The waiter did not tell us his name. He could have been a little more personal but he was efficient. Coat check guy remembered our coats without us having to produce a number."

  • "We always have a delicious dinner at the Pearl. I am a gourmet cook and love to do so but my husband has to understand that it is about BEING SERVED which the Pearl does so nicely. I will return often and bring friends."

  • "First of all, our Server, Dylan S, did an incredible job! Attentive, considerate, and well informed. The reason for the 'very good' review is related to portion size. Scallop appetizer was disappointing served with dime sized Scallops and what looked like cream of mushroom soup. Seafood Medley consisted of 2 Shrimp, 2 dime sized Scallops, and 2 one inch pieces of grilled Salmon. Pork dish was very good but lacked ample vegetables as did the Seafood. Again, food 'quality' was excellent barring the "Bistro" sized portions."

  • "Have eaten here before and found it very good... Not so much this time... Beurre Blanc way way too sweet... did not compliment the scallops... steak ordered medium but served virtually raw even after second trip to kitchen... The pork was overdone and dry and the sauce just tasted like sour cream.. Seasoning didn't seem to match any of the dishes well at all.. Waiter graciously removed the steak from the bill... Service was very good and atmosphere very nice. Will try it again but not for awhile..."

  • "I have been at the Pearl several times over the years for birthday dinners with my friends. The service is solid, the atmosphere is calming and the food is amazing! I wish I could eat there more frequently but my budget won't allow it. That's OK-it makes it a special occasion when I do get a dinner out!"

  • "Our waiter was amiable and just chatty enough. He also had a good sense of humor and was respectful as he delivered our appetizers and entrée in a timely and professional manner. While my wife and I had a less that pleasant experience with a former waiter, we couldn't have been more pleased this go-around. Thanks much. We'll likely be back for more!!"

  • "Had the Filet with Peppercorn sauce and it was honestly one of the top five steaks of my life. Sauce was not overpowering and complimented the steak perfectly. I could have nearly cut the steak with my fork. Medium rare and cooked to perfection. Wife had the Rockfish which was solid but not worth the price tag. Other person in our group had the pub steak, it came already thinly sliced and seared with a sweet almost worcestershire type sauce. It was good but I'm glad I ordered the filet. Service is wonderful, waiters/waitresses are extremely professional and accommodating. Overall a very good first time experience. Not an every week type place and more of a go to for a special occasion."

  • "I certainly enjoy dinning there and it was New Years Eve, but it really wasn't all that busy so the service could have been better. And the time between courses was way too long. But I will come back."

  • "The Pearl is one of our favorite places to dine in Missoula. The food is always fantastic and the service is consistently top notch! The ambiance and mood would make one think they are dining in a romantic restaurant in France. We are very blessed to have an establishment of this level in Montana."

  • "I love sitting and appreciating the beautiful surroundings. We were met by someone taking our coats and showing us to our seats. The ambiance is incredible. The food was wonderful - and they don't give you huge portion - just the right amount. The wait staff is very accommodating. I would highly recommend this for a memorable experience."

  • "I had the trout and crab and found it to be somewhat oily and not seasoned as well as it could of been. My son had the rabbit and was disappointed with the dish. Looked and tasted like a breaded chicken patty. My other son enjoyed his steak and loved the sauce and my wife liked the seafood medley even though it was a very small portion which would not have been enough food for my sons if they had ordered it."
    Dined on 12/27/2013
  • "The food is divine, the service impeccable and the setting is warm and inviting. Their pate is out of this world. Had one of the best steaks ever ... comparable to any of the best steak houses in the country. Love Pearl's!"
