    OpenTable Diner Since 2008

We arrived on time, were seated promptly, and were NEVER served. We asked for a waiter twice over 20 minutes and a server NEVER arrived. Both waiters we spoke to said it was not their table and they would send someone, but did not. For prices like theirs some sort of service would be expected. I haven't walked out of a restaurant...EVER...but I left this one. Busboy (Byron) chased after us, apologized, and said please complain about management. I just did. Go eat at the bar instead. Bartender was sweet and fun.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2008
    Dined on 6/30/2008
We had the Smoked Filet Carpaccio which was not as thin as one would like see in a traditional Carpaccio. Additionally, it was over smoked. It was overwhelming to the point where the actual flavor of the meat not detectable. It was also missing the cheese that was described. We would like to have tried the seafood chowder, but was not available. The Shrimp Calamari was recommended by our waiter and was outstanding. Lightly fried and very well seasoned. We then ordered the Cheese Platter for two. A nice variety offered and portion size was very generous for two. It was missing the figs that the menu described, which would have been nice to have but we did okay without it. Our waiter was very attentive and the view spectacular.

This place is a fine dining restaurant, without the price tag. The food is extremely nice, the servers are wonderfully courteous despite that we are not locals. The scenery is great, and I had a very nice evening with my wife. We had a wonderful experience, and will definitely come by again on our next trip to LA and Palm Springs.

We made a reservation for 7 to celebrate a 60th birthday. The idea of the restaurant is perfect, but the execution is somewhat poor. Aside from the fact that you travel to the top of the mountain to eat there, it was nothing special. I'd say the restaurant was not clean, windows and all, and it was not upscale at all...except for the prices. Bottom line, I'd want to go back to take someone who has not yet been to the top of the tramway, but not to eat while there.

Dinner was OK, ovens broken and seated late (over 45 minutes). We were offered free drinks while we waited. The kitchen had run out of several items on the menu. I will think hard about returning even though I am in the area several times a year on business. Awesome location! Would be nice to have slightly larger portions.

  • This was absolutely the worst
    OpenTable Diner Since 2005VIP
    Dined on 6/20/2008
This was absolutely the worst experience we've had at a restaurant booked on opentable. The service was atrocious-- we weren't seated until 45 minutes after our reservation and then waited another 15 minutes for a server to bring us a menu. The drinks were horrible and 1 of the glasses of wine had to be sent back because it was bad. The food (once received) was sub-par (cheese ravioli tasted like bbq and the salmon was dry and overcooked). The dessert (carrot cake) was to have fresh fruit on the side and instead it was frozen. Because the service was so poor and slow, we missed our preferred tram down the mountain and instead had to wait an additional 30minutes. (over 2 hours from our original reservation).

The food and the view were awesome.... However, the service was horrible. My husband had to seek out the waitress himself in order to get the bill. There was a very helpful bus-boy though who constantly came by to refill our water glasses. Be careful with the drink glasses, they tend to get slippery on the bottom and slide off the table.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2008

Upon arrival at the restaurant we were seated within 5 minutes at our table and told our server would be right over. I waited approximately 10-15 minutes before contacting the manager and asking for confirmation someone would be arriving at my table shortly. After another 5 minutes our waiter arrived. Service from our waiter was mediocre at best as he forgot several things we asked for (nothing out of the ordinary) and brought the wrong things (ie: a twist requested in a martini got some sort of tom-olive pepper thing). Through the remainder of the evening service was painfully slow between courses. I estimated this was a 2.5 hour dinner which is difficult with 2 children. I spoke w/ the manager to advise & hopefully he'll take action.

Great service from Chris. Food was good but not outstanding, good presentation though. Only negative comment would be the suggestion to break the restaurant off from the rest of the building so that it has better ambiance. The snack bar/cafeteria style bar is within clear view of your table, so it brings down the atmosphere a bit. A divider at the entrance to Peaks would go a long way. All in all, worth the trip up, but could have been better atmosphere for the money. Beautiful view!

We all had the $36 special for that event, the food way display very nicely but everything was over cooked. The waiter stated that the Ahi Tuna would be seared lightly and served on the rare side it came dry and well done to our table. One had pasta and she had no complaints. One had lamb shank and I must say I've nevwer seen BBQ sauce put with lamb, it was also over cooked and chewy. But I must say the dessert was a hit we all had the brwnie sundae-yummy! Service was very slow.

It was great to have the option of a fine dinner (rather than the cafeteria alternative)while enjoying the breathtaking nighttime view atop the tram. The food was quite good, but the view alone made it worthwhile. We rode up in the daylight, dined as the sun set, and then rode down viewing the beautiful valley of lights below.

Very disappointing as far as ambiance and food. They were out of menu items and also the tables were not the class I expected for a recommended top restaurant in the Palm Springs area...no table cloths, dusty lighting & walls/decor, you can see the cafe from the more formal restaurant. The service was good however and food okay...the carrot cake was the best I have ever had. Not the special occasion restaurant we had expected.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2008
    Dined on 5/27/2008
We thought the service left a lot to be desired. There were only three other tables at the time and the place was hardly busy. We thought the food was good but mediocre for the price we paid. We didn't like that we didn't have a choice of vegetable. The added shrimp to the dish was bland and disappointing. Small, frozen, tasteless shrimp. When we looked at the appetizer menu the salad we ordered and the soup had two sizes/prices and when we ordered it we were not asked what size we wanted and were given the more expensive one. We really looked forward to our first time there and found it to be way overpriced for the experience we had. The view is lovely and we'll be back but next time we'll just eat at the cafe and skip the Peaks.
