  • A Surprising Find!

My partner and I decided to try and find a unique spot for dinner to celebrate our anniversary. We thought that it'd be romantic to ride the tram up the mountains and take in the view, but we were not expecting much from the restaurant. We were extremely surprised to find out that the food at Peaks was also rewarding! We shared the olive and hummus platter, pork chop and meatloaf, and started with a salad. The service was very professional and extremely attentive, and the food was some of the tastiest we've had near the Palm Springs area. Actually, I remarked that the pork chop was better than any I've had in LA or San Francisco! The wine list is pretty basic but the food, wine, tram ride, view of the Coachella Valley, and the historic mid-century modern tram building make for a memorable and very romantic experience.

  • What a view!

The service was a bit snobbish (even reminded us that the tip wasn't included on the check), they cancelled our reservation after being 5 mins late (with empty tables everywhere), and acted like it was an "ordeal" to seat us (it took them 10 mins). I would never complain about waiting 10 mins for a seat, but for them to cancel our reservation at the top of a mountain where the only access is their tram is a bit much. The food was good though. Not gourmet over the top good, but you could tell they were really trying. It was definitely better than most. Now for the reason we were there in the first place. The view... spectacular. It's a must see. We headed up at sundown thinking that we would get a daylight view and a nighttime view. We didn't know which side of the mountain the tram was on and unfortunately we were on the dark side of the mountain. So the valley got dark by the time we stepped on to the tram. Still, the night view was awesome! Definitely worth the ride. Ohhhh before I forget. They try to trick you. They have a ride fee and a ride + dinner fee. The dinner IS NOT part of the Peaks restaurant, it's a school cafeteria style lunch run through. Don't go up there for the $36/per person thinking you're getting into the Peaks.

Two of our party ordered Pork Chops and found them done perfectly. My husband had the Filet and found it done exactly how he likes it. My spinach salad with shrimp also was very good. We all enjoyed our meal and recommended it to everyone we came in touch with. It was our 40th anniversary and if we are in the area for our 41st would do it again. Next time we would come earlier and walk more of the trails before enjoying the twilight dinner. Thank you for the nice time.

This is a "must do", especially for the view. The food is very good - not excellent, but, considering its being prepared at 8500 feet, its exceptional. Our waiter was also very good, efficient and took great care of us. One downside - the two lady hostesses have a very arrogant attitude. Frankly, I am not sure how and why an establishment like this would keep two employees with such entitlement attitude. However, once you get past the hostesses, the views and food are worth the trip.

Food was excellent. Service friendly and helpful, but not as attentive as it could have been. Our waiter seemed to have too many tables. Wine list was good and reasonable by the glass. Cocktails excellent. German chocolate cheesecake a must. Evening view was nice overlooking city lights. We did not go during the daylight.

Our reservations were for 6:30pm and we're shown a table immediately. The service is timely. Courses were allowed a generous amount of time. We did not feel rushed through any of it. Our waiter Chris, was superb. He refilled drinks without me ever seeing him do it. He was friendly. Ask for him by name. Try this place. You won't be sorry.

After going to this restaurant twice before you think I would know better, but I had not been here for lunch, just dinner. Well no change; table with view your paying for was not available, nor do they take requests even with reservations. Service was better this time but only after sitting for 20 minutes with no ambiance and staring down the hostess only to be confronted with excuses, bla, bla, bla... no communication. Portions were decent for lunch. The salmon was tasteless and likely prepackaged. The tortilla soup was decent, and so was the burger but everything cooled off to quickly do to the lack of heat or it was sitting to long. Won't be back again. You would think this would be a staple here in PS with the views it offers, it's not.

The Peaks was a pleasant surprise. Often at an 'attraction' such as this, the restaurant is about views -- not focused on food. We enjoyed our dinner very much -- soups, salmon, pork chops, salads -- all were very fresh and tasty! The views were indeed amazing, so it goes without saying that this combination is unbeatable. Unfortunately, a table near us had a couple of unruly very small children who were crying and banging silverware, etc. -- quite distracting and made the entire experience less enjoyable, and its not typical to experience this at a "fine dining" restaurant. That said, I still recommend that you book your table!

Food wasnt that great ...it took almost an hour to get our entrée. Food was not hot enough ...just warm. Was never asked to get more wine. Not great service, albeit the restaurant was not even half full. Venue was dated ...definetely not fine dinning. Only a few tables had a view ...restaurant is perpendicular to the edge. Most of the employees there did not seem to greet or be helpful. Nonetheless, they did cook my steak right. They food does not match the prices or services.

    1. I called to reconfirm the booking an hour beforehand. They had it for 9, yet I booked for 8. 2. On arrival the table was set for 6, and even though almost empty we waited 20 minutes for them to add 2 seats before we could be seated. 3. Steaks were not cooked as requested. I.E. Med Rare was cooked as Med Well. 4. Gravy for meatloaf, even though promised, was never delivered. 5. Steak knives not delivered until requested. 6. Pasta was served in watery soup instead of white wine cream sauce. When we asked the server she said the sauce was wrong. 7. Avocado burger was served without avocado. 8. They offered dessert for us due to all the problems, only two out of 8 ever got dessert. Bottom line, it was a disaster.

We took the aerial tram and had dinner here. It was a Sunday evening so it wasn't crowded. View was really nice. Service was great and the food was excellent. We both had filet mignon and the spinach salad to start. Then topped that off with their amazing german chocolate cheesecake. We will definitely visit again.

My expectations were exceeded! Considering that all supplies and ingredients must be transported via the tram, I was somewhat concerned about the freshness of the ingredients used in their meals. I need not have been. I had a surprisingly delicious pasta dinner with grilled shrimp. And a tasty bread pudding for dessert that is made in-house. Our server could not have been more pleasant, and provided just enough attention. A bit pricey perhaps, but the location is worth it!

My husband and I came to the Peaks restaurant to celebrate our Anniversary. We had a 7:00 reservation but ended up getting to the restaurant at 6:30. We let them know we were there just in case a seat became available early. We assumed we would have to wait until 7:00 so we made our way to the bar. At 7:15 my husband asked the hostess how much longer we would have to wait and reminded her that we had a 7:00 reservation. After checking back 2 more times we were finally seated at 8:15.Tried to order an appetizer but were out of everything. When we ordered our dinner the waiter told us that if we wanted dessert we would have to place the order at the same time. The food was ok not great. After this experience we probably won't return.

The view is great. The food was underwhelming. I ordered the bacon avo sandwich, which for $12.00 had hardly any bacon. Very disappointing. My husband's chicken club had very dry pieces of chicken. The coffee was the best cup of coffee I have experienced in a restaurant for a long time. We were there on a Saturday and it was busy, but our service was so slow. All and all I have to say a disappointing dining experience, sorry.

Although our experience wasn't great the food was very good. Thankfully. This was a birthday gift to my husband who had never been on the tramway...and to be waiting around for our reservation time (killing time)..then getting there 15 minutes prior and being told they'd "guess" they'd seat us since we had a reservation but that they stopped seating a half hour prior was a bit much. They even called me at home to confirm my 7:45 time the day before. What the heck. When booking I asked for a little something for a birthday celebration but that never happened and there was not even a pleasant happy birthday, sir, for my husband. Sad.

I was very disappointed in this restaurant. I was not good at all. The ambiance could be very good because the view is outstanding. However, the restaurant is dated and dirty. It was not pleasent looking out the finger printed windows. Everything around me looked dirty. The food was overcooked and lacking in presentation. The food is expensive so one would expect more. I read somewhere that the altitude makes is difficult to serve some food properly. If this is the case these dishes should not be on the menu or the server should explain this up front. The server was very attentive. Overall it was a terrible experience.
