Diner Reviews
  • "Good variety of dishes. Well prepared. Good service. Good ambience."

  • "Acquiring reservations was not difficult. Nice crowd present which is always a good sign. Menu was different on Open Table vs what we were handed. That made it somewhat frustrating because I base my reservations on what I can eat (gluten intolerance). I ordered a salmon meal from the menu and our waiter actually suggested one that was not on the menu but was very good. It came with sweet potato discs and I believe Asparagus and some balsamic soaked baby onions. All very good flavor. My husband had a pasta dish with grilled chicken that he said was good and kids had burgers and shoestring fries. Overall good meals for everyone and waiter seemed to be knowledgable about gluten intolerance, which is nice!"

  • "Last minute find for us to have dinner on a Saturday night, turned out to be one of our best meals for the trip. Staff was attentive but not annoying, waiter was outstanding I hailed our taxi when we were ready to leave. Above and beyond good service."

  • "Try one of their smoothies or juices if you go for brunch- very flavorful and fresh! My eggs Benedict was slightly overcooked and another friend'a bacon was a bit dry, but otherwise everyone really seemed to enjoy their meal."

  • "We were visiting from out of town and they did an excellent job of accommodating our group of 10. Most people there were locals who seemed to regarded it as one of their favorite local restaurants."

  • "Went to Peacock cafe during Persian new year to celebrate and the wonderful Persian items were delicious. Nice addition to the menu. Love half price wine bottle night on Monday too!"

  • "I ordered the rib eye which came out tender on the inside with a little toughness on the edges the way I like it. Tasted great! The standout on the dish was the cabernet reduction sauce. That added a sweet taste that I’d not tried with a tender cut of beef before. The “peacock” fries were a bit of a disappointment. Tiny shredded potato type fries, I was hoping for something more elegant, or hearty to accompany a steak. Overall very good 3.5 stars. My date tried the shrimp and lobster, spinach tagliatelle, it was very good. 4 stars. We finished with the carrot cake, suggested by our waiter, who was excellent for the duration of our meal. It came out with a sliced strawberry, a dash of fresh cream and a scoop of cinnamon ice cream. 5 stars!"

  • "We celebrated the 26th birthday of our son at Peacock cafe. Sunday's brunch menu is fabulous! Good eggs, quinoa has raisins in it for just the right level of sweetness, and the fruit/veggie smoothies are healthy and tasty. Try it."

  • "Had reservations before the dinner hour. We were seated right away. Our server was friendly, made suggestions and was very professional. The atmosphere is very nice being industrial. Food was wonderful. One can tell they use fresh ingredients. Will definitely go back next time in Georgetown"

  • "We love to go to peacock cafe on special occasions for an upscale(ish) dining experience but with 3 young children. For brunch the food was mixed. Good eggs benedict but French Toast was nothing special - kind of soggy. They should offer a crunchy french toast like some good hotels do these days. Kids' grilled cheese was lackluster, same with penne pasta. However their shoestring fries always a hit, and the smoothies."

  • "We set a reservation to connect with some friends from out of town. The restaurant was within walking distance for them and that turned out great. Our table was cozy but appropriate for our crowd. It was a little noisy for talking to one another but also a very fun and happy atmosphere. I felt that our server was superb and that everyone was very attentive. I had called ahead several times and everyone I spoke with was extremely helpful and willing to make this night very special for our party. The food was good and as our guest said...there is something on the menu for everyone, even the kids! My friend had the rockfish which was the best dish of all of ours - we all ate from her plate. That was the special that night. What a great night!"

  • "Peacock Cafe is one of our favorite restaurants! The food is always fantastic (& great quality--free range eggs, all natural ingredients, etc) and the staff is incredible."

  • "While the menu attracted me to this restaurant after arriving and asking questions about the food it seemed that little was made fresh. My salad was good not great and I chose a pasta dish with shrimp and lobster asking it to be prepared al dente and the waiter said he would try. I think the pasta must have been precooked and the shrimp and lobster nest frozen. The small buts of lobster was tough. . I didn't bother to finish my meal."

  • "We received a very friendly welcome, the maitre d made sure we had a table we liked. The choices were delicious, a nice balance of contemporary cuisine with some Persian alternatives. Dinner was delicious, and the staff took great care of us."

  • "Consistently high quality food and service. The owners make their presence felt in the front and in the kitchen, adding to a nice friendly atmosphere and keeping all aspects of the restaurant functioning very well."

  • "The Peacock was in a great location if you need to be near Georgetown University. Food (eggs benedict, chesapeake benedict i.e., with crabmeat and french toast) were enjoyed, though I would have preferred to have some fresh fruit than the pile of skinny fries that was used to make the plate look full. Service was excellent."

  • "Tables are a little close together and can be a little noisy but for brunch was fine. Had whole grain pancakes w banana and walnuts and a side of bacon. Bacon was perfect. Ate about half the pancakes as the serving was large. Hubs got a strawberry smoothie which was yum-o. Waiter was outstanding."

  • "Best place for brunch on a Sunday and watch shoppers pass by. The menu is all "organic" and it shows. Everything I have ever ordered here has been great. Went here for dinner last week and ordered the nightly special which was sea bass it tasted awful the waiter brought out a steak salad for me promptly and apologized profusely. All in all still a great visit grilled calamari is to die for everything tastes very homemade."

  • "Went here for NYE dinner and ordered from the pre-fixe menu. I had the smoked-duck and butternut squash ravioli which was delicious, followed by an average salad. The main was an amazing lamb dish accompanied by mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables. I ended with the cheese course, which was good but had too much cheese for one (not a bad thing!). The service was excellent, particularly given that they were fully booked and it was NYE!"

  • "20 years ago, my husband and I had our first date at the Peacock Cafe, which was just a sandwich shop. We went back to the current incarnation for our anniversary. The manager was so solicitous. At the end of the meal, the manager brought us complimentary champagne and a scrumptious plate of cream-puffs with Happy Anniversary written in chocolate sauce. What a great anniversary!!"

  • "I was our first time at Peacock cafe. My husband and I were meeting another couple. As soon as we walked in I noticed the noise level. It seemed loud. However we had made a reservation, our table was ready on time (the restaurant was busy and full). Service was prompt and efficient. The menu has a nice selection of different type of food so everyone could get what they wanted. The food was delicious with nice presentation. It was a little difficult with the noise to have a conversation, we had to talk over the noise but we had a great time. Our guests loved the restaurant and we would definetly go back"

  • "We always enjoy a meal at Peacock Cafe. Lunch is a consistent winner. Our most recent trip was for dinner - and once again they had a very nicely varied menu. Our group had lamb chops, risotto, and a pasta dsih - each was excellent. Nice wine list. Great service and warm friendly atmosphere. Highly recommend."

  • "Lovely café in Georgetown, food was healthy and tasty and the children were very happy with their ravioli and vegetables (great to have vegetables on the children's menu) Would love to return."

  • "We gave this place a try because of the good ratings. The place tries to do well but really falls short on the most critical element--the food. I had ribeye. It was a thin, poorly seasoned cut that was overlooked. The fries seem to be frozen. My partner had mushroom pasta, which had a strange bitterness. Nothing else stood out, unfortunately, except for the maitre d, in a good way."

  • "This is my second time at Peacock Cafe and the food is excellent. I rnded up getting the Rib Eye and my boyfriend got the Filet Minon and they were both cooked perfectly. Last time we ate here we sat outside which was perfect, but it was freezing so we sat inside. It has a weird sort of club vibe with the red lighting, but overall pretty normal. The service was a bit slow and inconsistent, which was odd because we had such a great experience the first time, but nothing too bad that I wouldnt go back again. Amazing food, especially for the price of similar plates in DC"

  • "Celebrated my five month anniversary here. Was seated right away, served efficiently, staff was kind. Restaurant wasn't busy on Wednesday evening so it was an incredibly intimate setting. Perfect for the occasion. I live this place!"

  • "The web site menu and the menu at the restaurant were not identical. When we asked why they were not very helpful. I paid for my beer and left with my wife"

  • "I ordered the sautéed calamari, peacock salad, and the special which was sea bass in a tomatillo sauce. The service was excellent, wait staff were very polite and attentive, ambience was upbeat but not too loud. I brought my mother here the first night she was visiting from out of town and she loved it. Although the place is busy you don't have to wait forever to get a reservation. Great find when you want a good meal but forgot to make a reservation somewhere!"

  • "The food was very well prepared and presented and the menu, which included appetizers, small plates, entrees was quite creative. The desserts were a wow! The ambience is modern and inviting. This was the first time we dined at the Peacock Café. It surely will not be the last!"

  • "The fact that the owners are in the restaurant, taking care of the front desk and the kitchen, indicates how seriously they take the importance of good food and service. And it shows. The consistently high quality of the food and the attentive service make this restaurant a pleasure to return to time and again."

  • "The hostess appeared shy and more focused on her computer screen than on interacting with us. Had to ask her repeatedly if she would notify us at the bar when our table was ready. Went back to her twice over at least 45 minutes to see if our name had come up. The second time we were 2nd on the list. At that point we found out by asking questions that we could have sat at a table outside without waiting from the beginning. So we did that. The lamb stew was small, and my wife's tilapia tasted like tuna."
