  • "Bread was hot and the cheese/olive oil individual mixture was a great addition. The mixed salad was okay. Wine was tasty. Main course came out before we had finished our salad. The chicken dishes were tasty. The Pollo alla Griglia was heavy with sage & garlic. Overall an okay lunch."

  • "I've only been to Pazzo for lunch, so can't review the PM scene, tho am sure it's quite nice for dinner or cocktails. I went with 2 colleagues for a b’day lunch. Thru Open Table, I requested a candle on a dessert. After our lunch, they brought an amazing Tiramisu w/ a fantastic sparkling flair. It was great! Last time I ate at Pazzo, I had ravioli stuffed w/porcini, perfectly cooked. This time I had penne w/salmon & asparagus. Unfortunately, the pasta was way over cooked. My parents were both born in Northern Italy so I'm a pasta snob--over cooked pasta is a cardinal sin. That said, I will return and try another of their pasta specialties. I'll remember to ask for al dente. Btw, the hostess is always very charming and our server was great!"

  • "I was disappointed in this restaurant because I was hoping for something fairly upscale and good in this location. The food is okay, but basically, this is just another mediocre Italian restaurant with pretty good food, big portions, moderate prices and okay pizza. There is nothing remarkable about it and the decor/ambience is completely lacking. If all you want is a quick pizza, a perfect place to go. If you are looking for a nice place to "dine", forget it!"

  • "A convenient location for Civic Opera House events. Food is fine. Cocktails are expensive. Service is attentive but slow due to what appears under-staffing. Both bathrooms opening directly into the dining room are truly ridiculous so make certain you are not seated within two table rows of the back of the main room or you'll be looking into the bathrooms during dinner."

  • "Nice rework of the place. Nothing special about the food. And like with most restaurants, there's nowhere to put your bag if you're not in a booth (putting $2000 bags on the floor is heinous). Hooked mine on the chair, thinking it wouldn't be in anyone's way. Our table was shoved close to a structural column. Surely the staff wouldn't be walking behind me, squeezing behind my chair and the table behind us. Amazingly, they did. Banging away at my bag every time, no matter which side of the chair I put it on. Annoying. So I sat through lunch with my bag on my feet. Also annoying. But back to the chow--only dish at the table finished was the tilapia. Pazzo's--mediocre, like most places on Wacker, save for Pearl Tavern. They're doing it right."

  • "My son and I order a pizza and a salad: keep it simple is alwaays safe. The pizza - was like a diGiorno frozen pizza from a box. Except not as high quality. The ingredients hadn't seen fresh in this millenium. The salad - the spinach greens were watery and tasteless, which matched the rest of the salad, to include the chicken, which hadn't even been waved over a grill or any kind of natural cooking device - thus could have been tofu for all of it's flavor (with apologies to tofu). Really? Is there no pride in your restaurant? I would expect better from a school cafeteria!"

  • "We're only in the city occasionally and we really don't eat out all that often. One time we do is when we go to the matinee at the Lyric Opera. We had first been stopping at the food court in Ogilvie, but we quickly decided we wanted something classier. Somebody recommended we try some of the restaurants along Wacker Drive, and that's how we found Pazzo's. This was our second visit--so obviously we're serious about recommending it. The menu offered something apart from the usual, the prices were reasonable, the food was great, the service was pleasant and prompt. We'll be going again."

  • "The ambiance of the revived space was great. Lighter and contemporary the space felt roomier and more lively. Food was great and service was excellent. Only negative is the revolving door lets cold Chicago air into the front dining area. If you don't like the chill, ask to be seated in the back. I will certainly return often with friends."

  • "This could be a popular spot with its proximity to the Lyric and Bank of America Theater. The front of the restaurant was somewhat lively and had a nice ambience. Despite the availability of tables we were escorted down a long hallway to a windowless plain and rather depressing room. Our waitress was abrupt and we were never asked if we wanted our drinks refilled. The linguine and clams were gritty probably the sand was not washed from the shells."

  • "We had a lunch before going to the theater and needed to find a convenient location with timely service. Ideally located a block from the Lyric Opera, Pazzo's was an excellent choice. The menu offers a wide selection of entrees. The pasta and risotto that we ordered was very well done. The staff was attentive but efficient in providing a pleasant dining experience and allowing us to walk leisurely to the theater."

  • "Even though we were early, we were seated promptly. Service was quick; although we had to ask for the specials. The meatball appetizer was tasty; though the ceasar salad was bland. The Chicken Picata was flavorable. The seared Tuna was perfectly cooked med-rare; however, it was heavily peppered. The cumin sauce on the side is added bonus. Potatoes and asparaus were a nice addition. Th coffee was hot and flavorable."

  • "Over-all a good experience. The wait staff seemed a bit hurried and at first we felt we were being ignored, but one they began serving all went well. The waiter needs instruction on pouring wine. No offer to taste the wine and she seemed to think she had to empty the bottle with the first pour. There was never an offer to keep the wine chilled. The entrees were fine, but mine was kind of a mess visually: a generous piece of Mahi-Mahi sitting on top of what can only be called a "pile" of mashed potatoes with three baby carrots arranged around the side and a serving of arugula off to the side of the plate. We have eaten at their other locations and hope this one gets to their level. A nice change from Lloyds and One North and we will return"

  • "This place looked great on the web and I do like how it is decorated. There was nothing wrong with the food or service. I just think that even though there are not a lot of places in the area close to the Opera House (where we were headed) there are better options. Chicago is a tough market to stand out in especially for Italian food. I think they need a little more pizzazz. We split a salad that was OK but a bit sweet. We both got the filet. Again, it was decent but not great. Desert (turtle cheesecake) was the highlight. The espresso was not very hot but OK."

Conveniently located just a couple of blocks from the theater, the restaurant was a quiet, lovely place to enjoy a fine meal and good conversation before the show. The food was excellent, and the service was exceptional. Away from the hubbub, we weren't rushed and didn't have to shout to be heard. I highly recommend it."

  • "We found Pazzo's online at the last minute for a pre-theatre dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed our seared tuna, salmon salad and grilled chicken breast. The flavors were just right (cumin sauce and pepper crust on tuna was spicy!) and our server was great. The plain walls and institutional feel of the rear dining area was boring. And there was a high-pitched fan squeal that they could not fix. Good thing the food exceeded our expectations!"

  • "The meal I ordered was Fettuccini ai Frutti Di Mare. (A seafood pasta combo.) The pasta was very good & tasted freshly made. The seafood was good too, but there were so few pieces, and they were so small (about the size of a nickel) that the pasta & sauce completely overwhelmed what little (size & quantity) seafood there was. There were only 6 tiny pieces of seafood, which included 1 shrimp, 1 scallop, & 5 mussels. My wife had the Tilapia Francese, which she reported was very good, but it came with breading, which was not listed in the description on the menu, and she had to scrape it off, because of health issues (lo carb). Twice we had to search for a waiter for a refill."

  • "walked in and gretter (owner?) was doing her bookwork at the front table....pretty "tacky" (I thought I was in a Wendy's). Food was pretty good, and cook would substitute to your liking. Bread seemed like they got it from the local grocery store. Server was good, but served us cold coffee, left the bill and WE NEVER SAW HIM AGAIN!"
