A word from Pazzaluna Urban Italian Restaurant & Bar
In Italy, every meal is a journey… the same is true at Pazzaluna. Start with appetizers featuring a selection of bruschetta and pizza straight from our wood-burning oven; then move on to a traditional Italian dinner menu of antipasto or insalata (salad), to primi piatto (pasta course), to secondi piatto (main course), and finally a delicious dolce (dessert). Discover the truly Italian art of lingering over dinner with family and friends, making conversation, and enjoying wine in a setting that is both urban and relaxing.

Diner Reviews
  • "I made reservations for dinner with my husband thru Open Table. When we arrived the m'd said we had no reservation and quickly dismissed us saying that they couldn't seat us without a reservation. He searched his screen but didn't find us. After i showed him my Open Table confirmation, he just quickly found our reservation and we were seated. The evening was very nice for both of us and the food and wine were excellent. My only complaint was how quickly the m'd reacted - since he couldn't find the reservation on his screen there must not be a reservation. I have to wonder what would have happened if I did not have my phone with me with the confirmation on it or if i had deleted the confirmation prior to arriving at the restaurant. "

  • "Three of us ate an evening meal prior to attending the opera. Despite having a reservation and being on time, we were seated in one of the half-moon booths near the front door. Not only were we cold from the opening and closing door, but the atmosphere was frenetic and not at all intimate. The food was fair. My daughter's serving of rigatoni was hard and crunchy. My wife's walleye was OK. My own fettucini alfredo was the best of the lot. Our waitress was friendly, but seldom available when we needed her. The price for this disappointing meal/experience was too expensive. In particular, sixteen dollars for a bowl (only partially filled) of plain rigatoni noodles was exorbitant. We shall likely not visit this restaurant again."

  • "Duck and foie gras ravioli in a carmelized onion and parmesan broth. TO DIE FOR! The bar noise flows substantially into the dining room, which is a shame. If not for that noise, the restaurant could be called romantic and a great date night environment."

  • "Great service, very good food, food is reasonably priced, wine is on the high side but waitress was very good at recommending a good wine to go with the meal. I always enjoy going to pazaluna."

  • "The restaurant has a fun vibe and I usually enjoy dining there. I was very excited to treat my family for a night out of dinner and opera. Our past experience was a little disappointing in that the noise level made conversation for our group difficult. The beet salad was a plate of beets with a few sprouts. It should not be called a salad. The pasta in some of the entrees was not al dente but undercooked and sticky like eating peanut butter. The tiramisu was not tiramisu. We did not get what we were expecting. It was ok. The four cheese pizza was excellent as was the creme brûlée. I have enjoyed the restaurant and will be back but this experience did not meet the great food and warm cozy atmosphere I usually find when dining there. "

  • "A favorite special occasion spot! The food is always good, but their brunches are really great! Highly recommended!"

  • "Nothing that I can add that others haven't said - good food and good service. Got plenty of attention from the wait staff. Only one minor point - the appetizers are pretty big, so I wished my dining partner and I had split one instead of each us getting separates ones."

  • "I was looking for a great restaurant in the St. Paul area and stumbled on Pazzaluna. Not to disappoint...their menu and wine list is extensive and fit for foodies! I had the Halibut with fingerling potatoes while my date had the pearmesan chicken over alfredo linguini. Both dishes were spectacular."

  • "We had reservations at 5:00 PM on a Sunday evening for a party of six for dinner on the night of a Minnesota Wild game, and we expected the restaurant to be busy. Due to our own fault, we were running late. We contact the staff to let them know that we would be running about 15 minutes late for our reservation. I honestly thought that we might be told that we missed our window and would not be able to dine. The staff told us that it would not be an issue, and thanked us for letting them know. Our table was waiting for us when we got there. The food and service we top notch! We were very pleased with our whole dining experience. We will most certainly be back. Thank you for the great service. It is often rare these days."

  • "We had dinner on a busy Saturday night. We had a reservation for 6 (recommended) and we were seated close to our time. The service from Valet to Maitre D to Server's were fabulous. The Sea Bass & Veal Medallions were excellent. It was just a flawless dining experience!"

  • "This was our 3rd visit to Pazzaluma. What can I say...bellisimo...everything was just great. I felt like we were celebrating my birthday together. Pazzaluma we are a family now. Ricardo you know how to keep costumer coming back. Thomas- Bar Manager- thank you for the good choice of the Terredona wine and our fine conversation, Curtis our waiter - very nice gentleman. Our experience from the beginning to the end of our event was exceptional. Our food, Alaskan halibut was superb. The seasoning, the sauce everything worked just perfect with our order. I had to go and thank the chef myself- he does a fine job there.Thank you Pazzaluma, thank you entire team to help us to celebrate my birthday."

  • "I made a reservation for my boyfriend and I for his birthday. The restaurant is really nice and is reasonably priced considering the decor. The food was also very good. Our server Rosie was awesome and made my boyfriend's birthday special by recommending the birthday sampler dessert on the house! Their wine pours were generous and I enjoyed their Syrah. The only complaint I have would be that we were seated by the door, which made for a chilly dinner."

  • "I had a reservation earlier this week and the food was excellent. I decided on the cappellini with seasoned broccoli and enjoyed it greatly. The restaurant was clean, and some-what crowded for the dinner rush. Service was prompt. The only unfortunate part was that the credit card machine went offline delaying my receipt of bill. While this was not an issue with me or a disservice to the staff I know that this delayed the server from being able to get drinks and food to larger tables that were seated around me. Overall, the food is definitely excellent and enough to draw me back."

  • "I made reservations on open table. As usual there were no problems when we checked in. We were a little early and enjoyed a drink in the bar. The hostess found us in bar when our table was ready. We had a cozy window seat. We were greeted immediately and served water by a very friendly and handsome young man. Our server arrived soon after. Our appetizer arrived hot and delicious (I can no longer order Calamari anywhere else because it could not compare!) We were able to enjoy our app and conversation. We never felt rushed. Nor did I feel like we were waiting on anything. Our entrees were exceptional. We had both had these dishes in past and they were worth repeating. We then took a trio of desserts to go because we were pleasantly stuffed!"

  • "Individuals at all 4 booths were freezing. Is there anything that can be done with the front door to cut down on the flow of cold air each time it is used."

  • "We celebrated a birthday at Pazzaluna. The chicken piccata was excellent. Overall, the restaurant is great but slightly overpriced."

  • "Pazzaluna has a notable reputation as an upscale restaurant in downtown St. Paul. Convenient to the Ordway Theatre, it is popular with people who have other engagements downtown. Our party of 4 was impressed with the service, but the food did not make the grade. My Ciapino was disappointing - very smalll mussels and clams, two shrimp, two scallops and a smattering of halibut. The broth was more of a sauce and passable. Our friends' scallops were done beautifully and his wife's halibut slightly overdone. My wife's chicken/pasta dish was only okay. Our service was outstanding - if only the food had matched the service."

  • "I had never been to Pazzaluna, or even heard of it for that matter. Very nice place. Food was excellent and the pecan pie dessert was probably the best I have ever had. A touch on the pricey side, but for a special occasion or night on the town, it is worth it."

  • "The whole experience beginning to end was fantastic. The scallops melted in my mouth. The Gluten Free Penne with Sausage is the best I have ever had. I loved the texture of the pasta. The spicy kick to the sauce was of out this world."

  • "Still our favorite restaurant in Saint Paul. Great place to eat before a show at the Ordway!"

  • "We were seated right away (with a reservation), but had to wait over an hour for our food (the dining room was 1/4 full) The salt content in each dish was so high that it was almost impossible to taste any other flavor. The dining room looked clean. It was also well air-conditioned (in March), so a wool sweater or down coat may be necessary attire for comfort. I had read positive reviews of this restaurant. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I will not be able to write one."

  • "This place is a must-try in downtown St. Paul! The ambience is upscale and elegant, and the authentic Italian food is out of this world! We got the table we ask for, just across from the kitchen. We could hear and see the chefs the whole time! The service is always great, and the food is simply outstanding. Neapolitan pizzas, pastas, and meat dishes, with out-of-this-world desserts. The Four Cheese Pizza is wonderful as an appetizer to split. The complimentary cheesy focaccia bread is also wonderful. For dessert, try the sweet and salty chocolate cake, or the tiramisu. Overall an awesome place for a special occasion, night out, or just for a great Italian meal."

  • "We have dined at Pazzaluna only once before when we ate in the bar. The happy hour is outstanding! Great appetizers and drink specials. This time we had dinner in the restaurant (group of 6). The service was very good (outstanding bus boys help with filling water, clearing dishes, etc). Our meals were good, but not better than some of the Italian chain restaurants. Those who ordered half size servings had very small entrees (many places the half size is a good portion, but here it wasn't enough). Our bill was high for what we had. We will try Pazzaluna again and try some different dishes."

  • "Knowing it is a popular restaurant on a Saturday night, I made advanced reservations for our group of eight on my daughters birthday. Unfortunately Pazzaluna was not prepared for our large group, and others groups reservation. They did their best to communicate, but seemed to by "running around with no plan." Eventually we were seated 30 minutes after our reservation. The wait staff did a GREAT job, and the food was EXCEPTIONAL. It would have been nice if the Manager stopped by and insured we were enjoying ourselves and offer and explanation for the delay"

  • "Nice setting, nothing too special. Reminded me of a nicer Cheesecake Factory. The beer and wine selection were good: recommend the syrah. It was pretty busy for a Saturday, service was slow: courteous but slow but we were not in a hurry. Caprese salad and goat cheese antipasto was tasty. I had the duck / foie gras ravioli: nice flavor, chewy pasta BUT the ravioli came in a both that was a little too "french onion soupy." Wife had sea bass on risotto: very good. Dessert was birthday cake / sea salt caramel gelato: very good. OVerall, we like the higher-end, tasty casual dining. Service was slow, perhaps a very busy night. Will go back."

  • "I dined at Pazzaluna on a Tuesday night in a group of 6. The food was delicious but it was extremely noisy. We had trouble hearing each other across our round table. However, we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves because the food and drink were so good. The gnocchi with meat sauce was great, and a full-size order was enough to take some home for lunch the next day. The arugula salad was also very good."

  • "The food was bad. Bruchetta looked and tasted like it was made by a sixth-grader. Had a reservation for 8 p.m. Told the table wouldn't be ready for 10 minutes. Pasta was simply bland. The drinks were good, at least. Been there many times. It's usually better."

  • "There is something about Pazzaluna that feels special. We occasionally come over to St Paul for dinner and Pazzaluna is always in our top 3. I love the ambience and the food is top notch. We will miss the birthday wine promotion but we did like the dessert."

  • "Pazzaluna is my go-to restaurant when I want to entertain friends from out of town. The food quality is consistently excellent, the service superb, and it's just overall a great time. My guest was impressed (again) and can't wait to get back to the Twin Cities to come here again!"

  • "Was here on thurs night after searching open table and was very pleasantly surprised!!! Eat michelin star and top rated restaurants all the time wherever I travel!! This is not a place to be missed in St. Paul!!! Menu was innovative, food cooked perfectly with high quality ingredients And spectator award does not hurt but wines by the glass need an upgrade Was pleased in every aspect from service to food to beautiful Mural and decor!!! Will return upon my next visit in a few weeks They do a great job out there highly recommend!!!"
