The restaurant was appropriately noisy but, surprisingly, conversations from neighboring tables were lost in the overall energy. Rachelle is an exceptional server. Every morsel of food and every sip of beverage was perfection. This has not happened anywhere in a very long time in the Twin Cities. Our waiter was helpful, but not overly friendly which is fine for me. There's a nice energy in the bar area with nice views of the sidewalk and streets. In particular, some of the long-time servers can be almost bossy in their dealings with diners. HOWEVER, we had a terrific experience this weekend. This was due to our well-informed and fun server. He had the perfect mix of personality and knowledge of both wine and food listings, and was attentive but never intrusive.
The food is always very good, but it's important to find your favorites on this extensive menu. Fish and meat are generally excellently cooked, and the pastas are fantastic. A few of the more adventurous items (duck and foie gras ravioli, for instance)might be better as an appetizer.
