Diner Reviews
  • "My evening at Paul's would have been perfect but for the noise level. I would avoid the downstairs room nearest West Street during peak hours-- it's deafening. All four of us had to lean in and practically yell to be heard above the other parties all doing the same. If I can't find a quieter part of the place, I won't be going back-- at least when it's likely to be full."

  • "Paul's has great Mediterranean food. It's a good place to dine if you're gluten-free. The staff and chef are very accommodating to special requests."

  • "Paul's has been a favorite of ours. It is gracious yet informal with a very friendly and attentive staff to complement the ample and varied menu. We took some first time visitors to Annapolis for dinner and they were as impressed and enjoyed Paul's as we have for years."

  • "The food at Paul's is very good and there are lots of options from small plates to full meals. Fabulous tirimisu."

  • "We have eaten at Paul's twice in the past month. The positives is the ambience, cocktails, wine selection and service. My selection of entrees both times has been okay. I ordered the lamb shish kebob and they were overcooked. However, my spouse ordered a special, lamb chops which were cooked the temp I ordered for my own and were excellent. I've even found their Greek selections wanting, however it doesn't discourage me from coming back. And whomever was attending bar, the Cosmopolitan was "perfect'!"

  • "We found this nice place by reading reviews and wanting to go somewhere not near the harbor. Brunch was excellent. Many tasty choices and excellent service. We will be back and now have a new place away from the tourists."

  • "We love Paul's. The staff is friendly and reliable, and the food is usually very good, hot, and moderately priced. The hostess (she may be an owner) will really try to accommodate you even if you don't have reservations -- but do try to get reservations, because this popular neighborhood gem fills up fast!"

  • "Absolutely lovely dinner - great wines, and fabulous food. We found the food pairings imaginative and absolutely loved the seafood course - the papparadelle with the chipotle hit the right note of bite to interplay with the wine. Every course was well executed, and delivered at the appropriate temperature, which is no easy feat when serving a group that size. We'll continue to come back - for dinner, and for special evenings!! Thanks for hosting this great winery - we're going to be in touch with them about bringing a group down."

  • "I've been to this restaurant several times before but this was the first time with my friend and her daughter who wanted to try Greek food. Our server, Mia, was so patient and accommodating to explain the differences between the Meze dinner choices that even I learned something! She was cheery the whole time and made herself available for more questions even while being quite busy with her other tables including a large group seated next to us. This is a great place with great food and a nice atmosphere. It's definitely one of the top spots to go to in Annapolis!"

  • "The one thing I've never liked about going out to eat is the master-servant dynamic between the wait-person and me. That might sound weird: many people go to restaurants precisely in order to be served. But if you're still reading, maybe you've had some of the same feelings I've had. In any case, at Paul's our waiter made the dining experience so relaxed and easy that I didn't feel as if the relationship between us and him were unequal. He was just himself, which turned out to be charming. He was neither too invasive nor too scarce: he always seemed to be there right when we needed something--he just intuited it. He could easily work at a four-star restaurant in some large, fancy city, but I'm glad we have him here in Annapolis."

  • "I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. Everything from the food to the friendly service is number one - I would like to give it more than five stars!"

  • "Found this off -the-beaten path restaurant during Restaurant Week 2014. It had high reviews on Trip Advisor so we thought we'd give them a shot. Although they seemed to be a bit overwhelmed when we first arrived (no hostess greeting for almost 5 minutes despite showing up right on time for our reservation), once we were seated it was a very pleasurable experience. The food was very good and the service was top notch. The Oysters Rockefeller and Pork Osso Bucco were both amazing. We will most certainly be back and recommend this restaurant to friends. It is just a shame that we didn't find this gem until only recently."

  • "Chose this restaurant b/c of their cuisine and specials for Restaurant Week. We didn't expect to be seated next to a party of 7 women who thought they were alone in a room. The acoustics did not allow for easy conversation. We were in a hurry to eat and get out just to have some quiet. Food was good; we might go back at a very early time to experience the Greek cuisine."

  • "The thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Paul's. The service was friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. There were lots of things on the menu that we wanted to try and, after such a positive experience, we will definitely go back for them."

  • "We went for restaurant week. Our service was horrible because they were under staffed. A dish came out wrong, we waited for drinks for a very long time on multiple occasions, & although the pork ossobucco was very good the grouper tasted like a frozen tv meal. Not sure if we will go back."

  • "This is a gem of a place. Plagued with tourist trap pubs and chain food slop, Annapolis is a real food desert. Paul's is respite - a family-run gem where the owners care about quality and service. The food is always fresh and high quality. Sunday brunch is fabulous and I enjoy their seafood options. Each and every time, the service has been friendly. Only complaint: fresh-squeezed juice in their complimentary mimosas would be nice!"

  • "Great service, great small resturant feel. Fish was amazing, Chilean sea bass. Girlfriend had seafood pasta dish. She said it was very good, and spicy. Wine list was plentifull, we went with an Argentina pino nior. Everything was cooked in house and prepared beautifully. Food was hot but definitely not microwaved. I have worked as a bartender and server for a combined 7 years, and I was very impressed with this place. I will definitely return. Recommend for special occasions like birthday, anniversary, or just a romantic night out. Thank you Paul's, George"

  • "We have been to Paul's a number of times and each time has been very good. On this evening we met two other couples. Food was very good except for my chicken dish. The chicken dish was a little tough. Otherwise great evening."

  • "We've eaten here before and the food and service were very good. However, New Year's Eve was not up to par.We were seated and mistakenly given the regular menu. While she was very apologetic, the hostess had to take it back and give us the special NYE menu. The food was ok.Bread was dry, like day old bread.Greek salad only filled half of the plate.Cream of crab soup was good. The oyster sampler and Greek sampler were very good also. The beef Wellington and breaded lamb chops were only fair. The desserts were fine. Our waitress was nice but we did not see her often. The restaurant seemed short staffed for one of the busiest nights of the year. This experience won't keep us from returning; however, we might think twice with so much competition."

  • "Three of the four of us thought our food was outstanding. The fourth person did not care for his seafood choice, but said he would come back to try one of the Mediterranean samplers. The portions were a nice size for dinner. Even with a reservation we had to wait for our table, although it wasn’t a problem for us. ."

  • "The restaurant is a lovely unusual building nicely decorated inside. That was the end of the good news. The first entree I ordered was no longer available. OK so I take another 5 minutes and select something else. Now I hear the second choice is no longer available. I don't care if they had a big party earlier. It probably wouldn't have mattered what I ordered because when the food arrived the chicken kabob was like rubber. I will give them credit for an excellent greek salad but it was dripping in dressing. Our first and last visit to Paul's."

  • "We had a large group for brunch on 11/24/2013. Service was poor, food was at best mediocre (several of my guests did not finish meals). I have emailed the restaurant directly twice and have never heard back from them. We have eaten at Paul's numerous times over the past few years and were always pleased with both food and service, this was disappointing. The restaurant again disappointed by not answering any of my emails, Poor management in all respects"

  • "All pita bread dishes were wonderful. However, 'regular' bread was disappointing . It was flavorless and had too soft a crust. Soup was a pleasant surprise! Seafood was excellent. All Greek dishes were superb."

Our Waiter was right there soon as we sat down ., then hovered a few minutes , then took order wrote everything down got our salads finished waiting awhile he came back and said dinner would be out soon we also ordered appetizer when we asked if it was coming out soon before the main course he got a funny look on face checked his paper and said he forgot to place that order, then said we could still get it or offered dessert on him which we took. over all very could ."
