The restaurant has always been famous for its desserts and hot popovers with strawberry butter. Diner Reviews
  • "My wife and I went here for her birthday dinner because we were trying to find a restaurant that we had never been to before. We ordered food and she got the salmon and I ordered the steak. After receiving our food, her salmon had no flavor to it at all.I have tasted better salmon from Sams club in the frozen section. My steak was way over cooked. My steak had no flavor. She asked to send that back and requested a steak because she thought she would have better luck. She requested her steak to be medium well and it came out rare. We sent it back to be cooked longer and still was not correct. We asked for it to be taken off.By this time I was finished eating. We left and went to another restaurant so she could have a nice meal on her birthday."

  • "Paulette's has been a mainstay of Memphis for a long time. So I wasn't surprised that the quality of cuisine had remained consistent over the years. The venue is great with a view of the Mississippi River. And if your timing is good, you get to see a wonderful sunset in the process."

  • "If you are looking for a restaurant with a Country Club-feel, this might be it! We were disappointed that the restaurant lacked any local flavor in design and the flavor of our fish was that of salt. I'm no expert but the fish, which I and my husband ordered, was too salty. They wanted to send me another piece but by that time we had too many negatives and really just wanted to leave. They were either unable to accommodate our Open Table request or no one read the notes. We let them know it was an Anniversary celebration and requested something romantic. We were seated next to a party of 20. I would not recommend this restaurant no matter how many awards they have won."

  • "Great food and excellent service. One of my favorite Memphis restraunts."

  • "I would recommend that if you want great service get your reservation for earlier than 7. The place was packed on a Monday and our server was over extended. We never got a refill on our drinks until we were done with our meal and ready for desert. Food was wonderful Ginger Salmon was incredible. The Jamaican Crepe was not made to what the description stated in the menu. No brown sugar rum glaze on the bananas. That was a bit disappointing. I wish they served half servings of their K pie. I have had it in the past but I couldn't finish it this time so I went with the Jamaican Crepe. Should have gotten the K pie."

  • " I had the pleasure of dining this past Saturday night at Paulette's. It was a first date with an amazing woman and the staff at Paulette's went the extra mile to make it a memorable experience for both of us. When I made my reservation, I asked for a table with a great view and explained I was meeting someone there for the first time and the staff had us seated at a table with an amazing view of the sunset over the river. The service was impeccable and incredibly friendly and fast. The house special filet was divine as was the chocolate crepe desert. Also the wine list was quite extensive and the waitress was spot on on pairing the perfect wines for the steaks and the deserts. It was a terrific night and meal. 5 stars!"

  • "As always, the food was outstanding - wonderful menu selections, traditional popovers and strawberry butter, excellent wines and dessert choices - loved it all! The service that evening was weak - very unusual as service is normally excellent - e.g. mix up concerning our reservation (two members of our group were asked to wait in the hotel lobby while the third member, who arrived a minuted later, was seated immediately - it was 15 minutes before we were actually together); it took 20 minutes after we were seated to actually receive a menu; at the conclusion of the meal, we were presented with three checks when one person was hosting the event and planned to pay the entire bill - the waitress never asked how the bill was to be presented."

  • "Wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary there and we were very happy with the selection of restaurant. The restaurant was an upscale quality in terms of setting and food without the enormous price tag. I will put this restaurant on the short list for the future."

  • "We have visited Paulette's for many years. We always enjoyed the Overton Square restaurant. We missed the shrimp crepes this trip. Our brunch was very good. We were never offered a wine list and service was fair from the standpoint of friendliness."

  • "My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Paulette's. We had a wonderful experience! The food was outstanding and the service great. So nice to find a place in the downtown Memphis area where you can park close for free, too! We will definitely be back!"

  • "Paulette's was amazing as usual. Food was incresdible. My only slightly negative comment is that the service was a bit slow. (Still gave 4 of 5 stars.)"

  • "Overall the meal was good. The pop up pastry tasted like is was made the day before. Also a pastry brush Bristol was found in my serving.i had eaten at their old location many times and the food was great! I was not impressed with the new fare. To bad!"

  • "We celebrated our 40th anniversary at this great restaurant. Fabulous food and great service. Only negative was the eight people sitting next to us who were loud and using vulgar language. Luckily they came in about halfway through our meal and not at the beginning."

  • "We had a lovely dinner for two to celebrate a special occasion. The food was very delicious and beautifully presented. I only wish we had been seated in a more secluded corner instead of a large table in the middle of the room. I would definitely recommend Paulette's for special evenings."

  • "This was a VERY disappointing experience! I have dined at Paulette's many times for a number of years and have enjoyed eating there. This visit was different.. Small parties had to tolerate a noisy party of 12 when there were plenty of options for seating. A bottle of white wine was brought to table unchilled and was never really brought to an acceptable temp. Popovers(one of their signature dishes) were cold and stale, probably left over from noon. Two of our party of four had Grouper for their entrée It was overcook, tough and oily(we should have refused it). Won't be returning."

  • "We stayed at the Harbor Inn while passing through Memphis. We were road weary and didn't want to drive to a restaurant so we divided on Paulette's as it was a short walk away. Glad we did! We both had the seared Tuna special and it was melt in your mouth delicious! The service was top notch. The decor is a bit tired and dated, the low lighting helped.... Breakfast the next morning was delicious too!"

  • "My husband and I try to eat at one very nice restaurant each out of town trip we take. We rely on recommendations, trip advisor, etc. This restaurant had very high ratings. We were very disappointed. The food was just ok. Nothing great. My husband had the filet medium. It arrived over cooked. We should have sent it back but did not. I had the crab and spinach crepes. The crab crepe was dry, I ate about 1/2 and the spinach crepe did not have a good flavor. The only thing exceptional about this evening was the waitress and the fact that we paid $140 for a mediocre meal. We enjoy great food and don't mind paying for it. In this instance, a chain restaurant would have had better food and would have been way less expensive."

  • "Have eaten here many times & have always been pleased w/ both food & service. Not so, this time! Inattentive waiter; had to talk w/ host to determine why it took over 30 min for entree to arrive. Was told there was backup in kitchen - no apology given. Portions have decreased in size; no longer serve salad w/ entree; dessert portion much smaller; popovers cold & dried out... prices increased!! Dirty wine glass! Entire wait staff appeared stressed & indifferent. Not sure what has happened, but this is not same restaurant it used to be!"

  • "I have happily eaten at Paulette's for 12 years but had not been to the Harbor Town location since it opened. The location and ambiance were lovely; parking was convenient. The service was attentive and discrete. I ordered crab and spinach crepes, my long time favorite. The crab had no taste and was the texture of bits of wet cardboard, while the spinach crepe was very salty. The crepes themselves were heavy and overcooked. Even the pop overs were overcooked and dry. I was most disappointed with a dinner that cost $36.00, including tip."

  • "Guest came from Wisconsin and had heard about the restaurant from their neighbors, so we celebrated two birthdays. We all ate different entrees and everyone raved about the food, wine, and desserts. Lovely night out!"

  • "This restaurant was recommended by friends and it didn't disappoint. The service was great. We had a funny waitress who seemed to be quite frazzled but she was very polite and attentive. It made for a comical sidelight to our meal. The food was very good. We have been overeating on this trip so I was trying to eat healthy so I didn't try their most decadent delights. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and go back again. We ate early so it was still light out for a short time after dinner and we went for a ride around the island."

  • "I have to come to Memphis once or twice a year to get my eye checked (I have a melanoma on my retina). Accompanied by one of my daughters, we meet friends (a beautiful couple) for lunch there. We wouldn't think of going to Memphis without having lunch at Paulette's. Thank you for wonderful service and fabulous food."

  • "My friends and I went there for lunch on father's day and of course it was a bit of a wait, but it was well worth the time. We got to sit in the lobby right next to the guy on the piano. He was AMAZING!!! The food was great and everyone must try the popover with the strawberry butter."

  • "I have been to Paulette's a few times before, and it has been fine. Elegant atmosphere, pretty good food and service. However, I would not recommend it when it is crowded on a Sunday, especially Father's Day. Food was mediocre at best, and some of it was inedible (steak full of fat and gristle). Service was slow, orders were incorrect, wait staff seemed stressed and harried. Best to go when it's not crowded."

  • "Paulette's always serves great food with great service. We had a great time eating the wonderful filet Paulette and their signature popovers. Even though I had a reservation, we still waited about 45 for a table. There was some confusion about the seating. Anyways, it worked out fine! We all left happy and very full."
