A word from Paul Martin's American Grill - Westlake Village
Seasonal & Delicious.

With Paul Martin's American Grill, Brian Bennett and restaurateur Paul Fleming have realized a long-nurtured dream to create the restaurant "we've always wished was in our neighborhood."

At the heart of all great food is fresh, local, peak of the season ingredients. Paul Martin's aims to serve diners the best ingredients with meat raised in a humane and wholesome way, locally sourced produce, the best of both wild and farmed fish, artisan cheeses and cured meats from small local purveyors. The deep California-centric wine list twists and turns, by glass or bottle, through the Golden State's vineyards, with an occasional stop for an Oregon Pinot Gris or a Washington dry Riesling. Behind Paul Martin's elegantly rustic bar is an interesting array of craft beer and spirited cocktails with fresh garnishes. Good times and thoughtful food are a way of life at Paul Martin's American Grill.Continued

  • "great place to eat....can usually trust the food to be to your liking...however, I did not read well enough to know $that the greens coming with the wonderful salmon were quinoa and mostly arugula....which I do not care for. A nice place for 4 to dine on a weekend.$75. for 2 dinner and a drink."

  • "Loved my meal skirt steak and arugula tomato salad. It's not a big portion in fact it's very small and looks more like an appetizer. I didn't mind that though since we got an appetizer spinach dip which was delicious. I asked to leave out sundried tomatoes. We got the banana cream pie for dessert which was also delicious. They have great happy hour deals $5 glasses of wine until 8pm or other drink options. My first time here and I would totally recommend it."

  • "A bit noisy for my taste but interesting menu and server was outstanding. Food quite good. Seems to have a vibrant bar scene and more than adequate wine menu. Appetizer and main dishes were good and offered a nice variety. Desserts were great."

  • "I was pleasantly surprised. It was our first time at this restaurant and the food was quite good. The steaks were prepared perfectly and were very tasty. My biggest complaint was that the wine we ordered (by the glass) was chilled. It should have been room temperature."

  • "Chose Paul Martin's for my birthday dinner and was so pleased! Fish tacos couldn't have been any more delicious. Great crowd - not too loud. Lighting was dim, but not too dark. Outside seating looked beautiful. Overall great restaurant. Definitely going back!"

  • "The server took our drink and dinner order in a timely manner. The drinks arrived and about 45 min. later, the server asked us if we were ready to order dinner. When we told her we ordered dinner with our drinks, she looked shocked, didn't remember a thing. About 15 min. later, dinner arrived but it was an hour waiting for it altogether. She blamed it on the kitchen and a power outage, which we were dubious about, and gave my husband a free glass of wine. When she went to pick up our plates, she dropped one or two on the floor right behind my chair, no apology, no discussion of it. There were broken plates under another table from a different incident that were never picked up. Very dangerous and no attention to detail."

  • "Our anniversary was well spent at Paul Martin's. The booking got us a prime seat in a booth even though there were two other couples in front of us. Our server Matt was well informed and attentive, not too pushy but helpful in our decisions with wine. We like how the wine list is listed in an order from lighter to more bold varieties. Our dishes came on time and tasted like advertised, we had the plank grilled salmon and skirt steak, both cooked to perfection. Well worth the money. Finally desert and espresso were both exceptional. Most often chocolate cake is too sweet, but the gnache they served was a slice of chocolate heaven. Not to mention they were nice enough to comp it since it was our anniversary."

  • "Great server. ..Beth...anticipated our needs and was very knowledgeable about wines. Shared the bruschetta and shrimp pasta. Both excellent."

  • "Maybe it's because Chili's used to be in this building that we had never gotten around to trying Paul Martin's. We finally decided to give it a try on a mid-week date night and had a wonderful dining experience. Everything was fresh and delicious. The decor is very modern and service was always attentive. I rated the noise level as "Energetic" because we were seated next to the bar, but the noise level did taper off as the evening went on. My only complaint (and it's a very, very minor one) was that the service was a bit too attentive at times. It's nice for the staff to ask how things are going, but when they're asking too frequently it can interrupt conversations and become intrusive. Overall, it was a wonderful experience."

  • "Decided to try their Prex Fixe brunch and was pleasantly surprised. Their menu Included an alcoholic beverage, if desired, and the food was good. Chris, our server was attentive and super polite. met the operating owner who took the time to talk with us."

  • "Never disappointing.....great food, efficient service in an attractive setting. Shortribs are my favorite item. Although you can't go wrong with any of their menu items."

  • "We've eaten at Paul Martin's before and my husband says the same thing...the chef isn't that creative or good. I had fish tacos as an entree and they served snapper. It was good except the flour tortilla...kind of thick and not that good. My husband had their steak and too much seasoning and salt. The smoked chicken appetizer was very good for $5.00 (before 8pm) and I had a Rasberry Martini which was excellent for $5.00, and my husband had the lemon drop martini for $5.00, which was very good."

  • "At Happy Hour on Friday night, the restaurant's noise level is at its peak, however, I am thrilled the restaurant is doing well so it stays a very long time. Outstanding dishes this night were the hangar steak, giant prawns with linguini and the short ribs. In addition to delicious food, cooked exactly as requested, special commendation must be given to our server. He was superb! His personality was energetic and charming; he was helpful in the food selection and particularly in our choice of wines. And he was patient. Truly an all around gem."

  • "Food and service were superb. We enjoyed the steak cobb salad, and split, it was really almost enough for a full meal. We also had the planked salmon which was outstanding as well. Thiis was our first visit to Paul MArtin's and will certainly return as this was the best meal we have found in a long time."

  • "Very quaint floor plan that has enough space for your own privacy, but isn't to open. Their food is all locally grown and the choices are delicious and balanced on your pallet. Fred is a wonderful and knowledgable server if you are lucky enough to get him"

  • "We were astonished at the wine glass prices during Happy Hour --specially those offered for $5 ! Great selection of very drinkable wines. And the appetizer choces were fun and varied and "cheap" too. But you can't beat the burger special . Burger , Fries and a beer for $13.00. Overall a very fun trendy crowd, outdoor seating is open -- so you just have to grab a table when you can. I have enjoyed the friendliness of the wait staff both in Thousand Oaks and El Segundo. The dinner menu was varied -- and the plank salmon was a big hit at our table. Use Open Table, reserve a table, and have a ball."

  • "We went in with a party of 6 and two small children. They easily accomodated us and the atmosphere was casual enough to be inviting, but nice enough to feel that you're experiencing a good restaurant. Everything we ordered was delicious. Once seated the waiter informed us that all of the food is local and organic. All meat is sustainably and humanely raised, and beef is grass fed. I LOVE THIS. I wonder, however, why that information isn't plastered all over the website (the skeptic in me wonders). The chimichurri steak was a little undercooked for my preference, but still delicious. The homemade strawberry shortcake was phenomenal. And the drinks (raspberry martini-yum) were also delicious...This may be my new favorite restaurant."

  • "Me & my wife were booked in by our Son & Daughter-in-law for our Ruby Wedding Anniversary. On arrival we were made a fuss of & put in a nice cosy booth. The girl who looked after us was absolutely first class made us feel @ home & answered any queries we asked. She served us throughout the evening & helped to make our Anniversary dinner a great success. This looks like the in- place @ Westlake. Well done."

  • "Took my wife and son out to Paul Martins for his birthday. The appetizers were excellent, especially the "Butchers Block". Main course were a mixed bag. My Salmon was perfect, son's steak average and my wife's chicken was just ok. Service was good and attentive. Biggest complaint was the noise. Very loud both music and people. Would not suggest it for a romantic evening."

  • "This was our first visit to Paul Martin's Restaurant. A good friend highly recommended them. This is a fantastic restaurant. Great location, great setting. We love the decor. The menu is great. The service was good but there were long periods where we could not fine our server and it was not busy. The plus is that we got to relax and enjoy the restaurant! We had lemonade with club soda that was delicious! We also had the French Dip sandwich that was outstanding. The beef was so flavorful and tender! We also had a house-made smoked salmon salad that was the best I've ever had! It was loaded with salmon, cucumbers, thin shavings of radish and a fabulous dressing. I highly recommend both dishes! Can't wait to go back!"

We ordered salads before our entre which they forgot to bring out and brought out the main coursr, immediately corrected the mistake and didnt charge us for the salads!
