A word from Paul Martin's American Grill - Roseville
Seasonal & Delicious.

With Paul Martin's American Grill, Brian Bennett and restaurateur Paul Fleming have realized a long-nurtured dream to create the restaurant "we've always wished was in our neighborhood."

At the heart of all great food is fresh, local, peak of the season ingredients. Paul Martin's aims to serve diners the best ingredients with meat raised in a humane and wholesome way, locally sourced produce, the best of both wild and farmed fish, artisan cheeses and cured meats from small local purveyors. The deep California-centric wine list twists and turns, by glass or bottle, through the Golden State's vineyards, with an occasional stop for an Oregon Pinot Gris or a Washington dry Riesling. Behind Paul Martin's elegantly rustic bar is an interesting array of craft beer and spirited cocktails with fresh garnishes. Good times and thoughtful food are a way of life at Paul Martin's American Grill.Continued

  • "Food always good. Service on this visit FAIR. Too noisy for enjoyable conversation! Did not have wine we ordered...nor the second choice!!!"

  • "The food was great. The lettuce in the salad however was limp. Too bad."

  • "This night was our 30th wedding anniversary. We arrived on-time and this Monday was active but not busy. The bar was not busy, many of the tables were open and we were seated on arrival. We placed an order for an appetizer, it came and that's when the bottom fell out. We waited 50 minutes for our food to arrive, the waitress avoided us, a second waiter said he would check with the kitchen and did not return, finally a manager came out apologized and acknowledged that our evening was ruined. The food finally came, they comp'd our meal, but the damage was done, they even delayed for 15 minutes the dessert. Strawberry shortcake does not take that long to prepare. We both work and had to rush the remainder or our evening. Bad Taste!"

  • "A great value. Tasty meals, ample wine selection and nice service."

  • "The food was excellent - best steak I have had in a while! Service was also excellent."

  • "Food here is great! Fresh and straightforward. However, it took over 2 hours to have dinner on a recent Saturday night. Made an Open Table reservation for 7 and when we arrived, we still waited in the 'line' with drop ins. I asked at the desk why that was and didn't really receive an answer other than 'we had a big party ahead of you' which didn't make sense at all. Our waiter was very good, but it took FOREVER to get our drinks, our food, etc - which I think was due to back ups at the bar and kitchen. I'd definitely go back, but I hope they get some of these issues cleared up."

  • "Paul Martin knows how to run a restaurant. That is very clear."

  • "One of the nicest places around. Live music during the summer on Thursdays and Saturdays at 7."

  • "Rachel our waitress was terrific. On top of every detail and kept her witty sense of humor in tact. Loved her roll with the punches laid back, yet efficient service. Hard to find nowadays. Cheers to Rachel.....we shall return."

  • "J.J. our server was excellent! The food was very good. We'll come back and check out happy hour. The drinks were ridiculously expensive. If they were priced a bit more normally, we'd frequent this place."

  • "Great food, service and relaxing atmosphere for lunch"

  • "Of my party of four, three ordered the beef short ribs and all raved about it as tender and tasty. I had the salmon, which was a bit salty but tasty nonetheless and perfect with rose. This was a return viisit for me and I'll be back!"

  • "After a wonderful dining experience at the Paul Martin's Roseville location, we were thrilled to learn they also have a restaurant in Mountain View, very close to home. One member of our party had the braised beef shortribs, they were to die for and I was tempted to order them for dessert. I had the hanger steak which was cooked perfectly and delicious. We also experienced the planked salmon. Another choice to recommend. They had a live combo on the patio outside their entrance. This might have resulted in an excessively noisy experience except that we were seated on the far side of the restaurant from the entrance so all we experienced was pleasant background music."

  • "We were seated in a booth adjacent to a long, large-group table. Its occupants continually jostled their chairs, and the chairs (lacking nylon scuff-pads) made shrieking sounds like fingernails on a blackboard. (Yes, I know I'm dating myself.) Some guests seemed to enjoy the effect, as even other guests at their table grimaced repeatedly. The restaurant could easily fix this with a few dollars of chair pads. Attention to such details--on something so apparent to everyone within 30 feet from the table--makes me wonder what else the restaurant is skimping on. We'll be back, but it ruined my wife's birthday dinner."

  • "This restaurant has a lively bar scene and the food and service are always good. This is consistent with their El Segundo location in Southern California. However, compared to similar restaurants in the area as well as downtown Sacramento the overall price especially for alcohol is higher than most. It appears that the price of cocktails and wine by the glass have increased periodically and are well above the rest of the market place. The entrees are not a bargain but tend to be well prepared and flavorable. While we enjoy coming to this restaurant we would not consider it a value versus other choices."

  • "We have eaten here many times and have never been disappointed. They know what people want and continue to give it all to all of their customers."

  • "This was the first time I had brunch at the restaurant. Although the brunch menu was limited, the food was great quality and ample quantity. Service was wonderful."
    Dined on 8/10/2014
  • "We eat here often out of convenience and it's fairly consistent food. The service is lacking- our server was slow, laughed after everything she said so I assume nervous, intrusive (interrupted conversations twice), took awhile to bring straws for drinks, didn't bring ketchup for the burger..."

  • "We took some family visitors to Paul Martins this weekend and they loved it. I had my "go to" favorite - fish tacos - which were even better this time. The steak dish was also great. My husband and I shared the kale salad which we both really enjoyed. We love this restaurant and really enjoy the band playing on Saturday night."

  • "We have eaten here many times but this past visit, our food was not cooked and had to be sent back to the Kitchen. Then after the skirt steak was cooked, it was tough meat to eat. Would not order it again."

  • "Always enjoy Paul Martins. Food was very good, however service was not up to par Saturday night. But will be back."

  • "PM's does a very good job, but a review in pricing logic is needed in my opinion. Sliced tomato with Barrata cheese; four slices with a small dollop of cheese and one basil leaf at $14. That's $3.50 per slice!! Similar to glass pricing for average wines."

  • " Loved the food AND service. The roasted corn soup was delicious - everyone at our table ordered it. It was a hit! We had a variety of dishes at our table and the consensus was unanimous. Everyone was very satisfied with their dish. We all agreed we would return again sometime soon."

  • "We love healthy, and mostly organic, food with nice presentation. Food was just good, but not great for the price. The noise level was above and beyond acceptable - we could barely hear each other at our small table for two. The room was very dark. It would have been "romantic" except too crowded, too dark, and too loud. I can see how this would be a great Hot Spot for singles with their bar area. Our waitress was wonderful, and she made our experience much better. She returned to our table to check our needs often. She was the best part. This was the second time we've been to Paul Martin's - first time wasn't impressive. Our expensive (over $20 at least) were small portions, and we left hungry. We will not be returning."

  • "After dining with 6 ladies we were disappointed in our service(Joey) was slow as molasses and didn't care if we were annoyed, the the steak chimmichurri was blah with no flavor, and to top it off after settling up with server on our bill we were double charged on our credit card we learned after we got home and a fraud alert came via email. We called the restaurant that moment and they weren't even sympathetic, and was appalled it would take 3 days to reverse charges.....will NEVER go back ever! First and LAST TIME"

  • "Our dining experience at Paul Martin's resulted in a new favorite in our repetoire of dining experiences! Great service, great food, and great ambiance. Our meal began with sharing a kale ceasar salad; topped with a fresh anchovie, this was a flavorful start to an all-around excellent meal. I ordered cedar plank salmon--the fish was a very generous portion of perfectly cooked salmon on a bed of greens/delicious. My husband had the polenta with veggies and grilled chicken, and pronounced it excellent. I also ordered the grilled corn, and it was the best I've ever tasted; yum! We thorougly enjoyed the banana cream pie with chocolate-lined crust we shared. Make reservations if you go; the place was full on a thursday evening."

  • "My husband and I really enjoy special occasions at Paul Martin's. However, Monday nights are very crowded and noisy due to the Wine Dinner. Short Ribs are amazing!! Great for Happy Hour as well!!"

  • "First time at Paul Martin's. We ordered appetizers and the fish tacos. All the food was excellent and the service was great. Would definitely return for brunch and dinner. Pricing is very reasonable for this style of restaurant."

  • "We had a rez for Sunday at 5 p.m. We were told we could not sit in the back of the restaurant, as it wasn't that busy yet and "the curtain had not been pulled yet"! My father is severely hearing impaired, so that is why we asked for the back of the restaurant. So, guess where they put us? In the bar area which was so noisy, I had to sit next to him and shout into his ear! THIS IS JUST PLAIN WRONG!"

  • "My Kale Caesar salad was outstanding. However the brick chicken was only good. It was not overcooked, which often happens with chicken. It simply lacked any sort of interesting flavor. I found it to be overly bland. My sister found her large prawns with pasta to be excellent."

  • "Our table of 3 loved this restaurant. We are each different in our food/drink needs and there was something for each of us that we loved. Fresh, fresh, fresh!!! Wonderful choices of food and drink. We had a rib dish, veg polenta dish, and tasty salad and vegetable sides. My favorite wine (although $20/glass) was available and true and my husband enjoyed his non-alcoholic beers. Fresh tea was a hit with our daughter. We savored it all and will be back. We were sorry to have missed ordering dessert. On our way out, we noticed a band setting up and outdoor seating as well. Must mention the staff. Everyone was very polite and professional and made sure all our needs were met. Great service. The restaurant/bar is a gem!"
