A word from Paul Martin's American Grill - Mountain View
Seasonal & Delicious.

With Paul Martin's American Grill, Brian Bennett and restaurateur Paul Fleming have realized a long-nurtured dream to create the restaurant "we've always wished was in our neighborhood."

At the heart of all great food is fresh, local, peak of the season ingredients. Paul Martin's aims to serve diners the best ingredients with meat raised in a humane and wholesome way, locally sourced produce, the best of both wild and farmed fish, artisan cheeses and cured meats from small local purveyors. The deep California-centric wine list twists and turns, by glass or bottle, through the Golden State's vineyards, with an occasional stop for an Oregon Pinot Gris or a Washington dry Riesling. Behind Paul Martin's elegantly rustic bar is an interesting array of craft beer and spirited cocktails with fresh garnishes. Good times and thoughtful food are a way of life at Paul Martin's American Grill.

Thought we would try the new grill in town (not that we don't have plenty in the Mt.View/Los Altos/Palo Alto area). Anyway we ate early because of a 7PM concert, showed up for our 5:45 reservation, had good greeting & service all evening. Sat in a nice booth, food was great (brick chicken a well-deserved house specialty, my grilled braised short rib perfect; wild mushroom soup was the hit of the meal, just outstanding)….We'll be back.

decent food although I loved the Kale Caesar Salad. Ordered the Hangar Steak which was not hot when it got to my table. Much too noisy. Do not need music in addition to crowd noise on a Sat. night.

Overall the food experience was very good. Unfortunately we were seated outside (which should be fine for noise) but next to us was a table of 6 people, mainly women, making an amazing amount of noise…. really over the top.

This time, my wife and I had old friends visiting from England. They and another couple had been neighbors years ago in Diablo and we have raved so much about Paul Martins that we decided it was time to share with them. Rick Menard made sure the evening was a huge success starting with the most hospitable and knowledgeable server we have had to date!!! The only thing better than the food was the service!

We tried a relatively new restaurant in our neighborhood and found it to be quite good. The prices were reasonable and the atmosphere was good. Not so much noise that you couldn't hear each other and not so dark you couldn't see. The food was above average but the service was only average. We will go again.

The roast beef dinner was a big hit with members of my family. It was perfectly cooked for those who do not like their roast beef too bloody. The seasonal lobster tail dinner was also excellent, The lobster was moist and tender but the green beans really stole the show. Changing the menu to fit the season to use locally grown food is both a nice concept and provides very tasty side dishes and salads. This is a fine place to have a Sunday dinner with the family.

This was our second time dining at the restaurant. After the first time we were on the fence and wanted to give it another try. We started with the oysters and calamari and both were good. Then the butter lettuce/blue cheese salad. The dressing was too oily and did not have enough blue cheese to get the full flavor Two of us ordered the mahi mahi and it was disappointing. Another ordered the skirt steak and that was cooked perfectly. Our waiter was training another waiter so was pretty attentive. But the dishes were not cleared after our appetizers were finished so when the salads arrived the table was crowded. Finally both courses were cleared at the same time. Overall the experience did not stand up to the price.

Came here for a business lunch and sat on the patio, nice option on a gorgeous day, especially since inside is swanky and a bit dark. I had the mahi mahi, and it was good. Service was friendly, if a bit inattentive (no utensils until our meal came which made buttering the bread a bit of a challenge). I know the place hasn't been opened long so I'll give them a chance and try it again.

Do yourself a favor, and order the blackened steak. Every inch was cooked perfectly, and the waiter even waited until I cut into it to make sure it was as I had requested. That is truly great service. Overall, the service was attentive but not over bearing. A wonderful place to take that special someone.

Dined here many times- live nearby. Need to keep track of their wine list and what is on it. Ordered a 2008 vintage wine and "wine steward" brought a 2012. He didn't know the list and didn't notice he brought the wrong year. Also, you should have Ridge Three Valleys on your list if you are going to please and impress Silicon Valley diners. My polenta dish with grilled chicken was disappointing. The veggies were scarce, the cauliflower undercooked- almost raw- and the chicken was very overcooked. I have had this dish without the chicken in the past and it was good but this time it was not good. My dinner partners enjoyed their dinners so I gather that you don't have many people ordering the polenta dish.

The menu choices were limited, especially the children's menu but the food was well prepared and locally grown. We really enjoyed our first dining experience at Paul Martin's. Our server, Luke, was very attentive and knowledgeable and helpful. We started with oysters on the half shell, followed by fried calamari, then the roasted corn soup, sweet and spicy, along with the skirt steak and the most tender braised beef, that melted in your mouth. For dessert, we had their awesome and rich, chocolatey Devil's food cake and a glass of zinfandel port! I was in heaven after all that! Very good! Can't wait to go back!

We had a very nice dinner and had ordered the "Brick" Chicken and the Braised Short Ribs. The chicken was tasty and the ribs were very tender. The server was helpful and explained the dishes. One disappointing note was that I had mentioned during the reservation that we were celebrating a birthday of one person of our dinner party. There was acknowledgment to our guest or even a small complimentary dessert offered to her. The server only wished our guest a "Happy Birthday" as we were leaving. Otherwise, we had enjoyed our dinner.

2nd time at this location. All the food we've tried so far has been delicious. We have simple tastes and don't order a lot of "extra" items that will bring the total bill to a larger amount. When the server realized this, it seemed as though she was a bit upset (i.e.lower tip). Paul Martin's really needs to also get new uniforms for their servers. The color of the shirts look dull and drab.

i took my mom here on her birthday for dinner. we were seated immediately and server was very attentive. calamari appetizer was great, but i didn't care as much for the kale caesar salad. to me it's not caesar without romaine lettuce. for entrees we ordered the blackened ribeye and the skirt steak. skirt steak was perfect medium rare, but unfortunately the ribeye was a bit overcooked. for dessert we ordered the banana cream pie, which was good although i found it a bit odd that they did not comp it, knowing that it was a birthday. obviously they are not obligated to do so, but my experience is that is fairly standard. all in all a good dining experience.
