A word from Paul Martin's American Grill - Irvine
Our founders, Brian Bennett and Paul Fleming, had a vision for a restaurant they wished was in their neighborhood — a place that serves you dishes made from scratch with the highest quality ingredients prepared simply and well, all offered at accessible prices. Embracing this concept and carrying these values into the restaurant kitchen, Paul Martin's American Grill was born.

Today our motto remains "Seasonal & Delicious." On our menu you will find the best seafood from sustainable fisheries, free-range and natural meats and poultry, artisan cheeses and cured meats. Alongside our food, we serve artisanal cocktails made with house-infused spirits, craft beers and a deep selection of over 100 wines, most of which are offered by the glass.

We encourage you to peruse our rich and varied menus, which are designed to foster sampling and sharing. Good times and thoughtful food are a way of life at Paul Martin’s.

The food was good, not great and the portions were pretty small for the price. Small bowl of soup $10. Short ribs one small piece (4oz) with only mashed potatoes, no vegetables for $25. Same for hanger steak (4oz) and up-charged $2.50 to switch out mashed potatoes for vegetables. It is not like these are New York steaks. These are very inexpensive cuts of meat. Dessert was $10 for a regular size creme brulee. This location might concentrate more on happy hour than regular diner portion sizes.

We have made many reservations with open table and for some reason get seated in undesirable areas periodically. This time with many booths open we were initially seated next to the door right near the kitchen entrance. We asked to be moved to a booth and the hostess, clearly annoyed with our request, acquiesced and moved us to a booth. It would be nice to have restaraunts who are glad to have patrons. The food was great and waitress attentive. Unfortunately, the hostess made it difficult to enjoy the experience. We will probably not return to the Irvine Paul Martin's.

Food was very good but server put a bit of a damper on the evening by suggesting how much we should tip her when she penned the tip amount on the bill. I've gotten "thanks" or smiley faces from other servers but never an actual dollar amount on what the server feels she should be tipped. Although tipping is a given for us, somehow this felt so invasive. Totally killed the mood.

Food is delicious and eco-friendly. Service is attentive, accommodating and cordial. Menu items are also very reasonably priced which makes the overall value of the meal exceptional. Prime rib Sunday for $25.00 is awesome and I also enjoy their Asian style Pork chop. My wife's favorite is the grilled polenta as she leans towards the more health-oriented food offerings. Banana cream pie is also very tasty. Sunday brunch for $14.00 is the best deal in town bar none. We love the ambiance if we can get a booth and the overall look and feel of the space is very hip and upscale.

We have been here several times now I wish I could order something different then the Brick Chicken but I just can't it is sooo juciy. They poor a nice poor for cocktails and use premium brands. We love introducing this restaurant to friends since most people don't suspect this type of restaurant in a Mall would be this good. The minute you walk in the door from the hostess to the bus people everyone is reall attentive and friendly, we definatly will be coming back here again and again.

Looking back at the prior restaurant at this location is like day and night. What a wonderful change; it is great having an upscale restaurant in the Spectrum. One must try the shrimp appetizer and the mushroom soup; they are wonderful. The steaks etc etc...we thoroughly enjoyed everything. The only problem encountered is that the valet parking is so backed up that coming form across the street when the traffic light changed toe green we could not get into the valet parking. I could not have walked that distance currently but I was fortunate that my son was with me.

my mom is a needy customer...no question, but it was obvious after her many requests for changes, cold food, etc., that our server wasn't happy. We said thank you, no reply, just fulfilling our requests. He was perfectly fine, but you could tell he wasn't happy with how difficult she was. A guest should never be led to feel unwelcome or a burden. if you don't want to work sundays, don't show it to your guests. The tension in the air was obvious and the rolling of his eyes as he walked away (he didn't think I saw) made me not want to come back. It's a nice place and the food was fine, but his lack of hospitality is not worth visiting again.

We stopped here on our way home from LA to San Diego. Selected it based on website information. It is in a very busy mall, but the restaurant itself is a bit off of the main mall so it was relatively calm and quiet. Our waitress, Danielle, was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed her beer recommendation. My steak and fries were very good. Would come back again.

We had reservations and arrived a bit early. The bar was crowded, plus there is no space just to sit at the bar. Most people were eating at the bar and the area for waiting near the entrance is very small. There is a very nice patio outside with chairs but no drinks can be served outside. I would suggest the restaurant should make a small area outside the restaurant where people can wait for the rest of their party and have a drink. Otherwise, the evening was great! Good food, quick and excellent service were all in abundance. They brought a substantial cake for a birthday treat - enough for 6 of us to share. It was an enjoyable evening and an extensive menu allows all kinds of diners to enjoy this lively, energetic restaurant.

Had an amazing dinner here with my girlfriend. Jodie, our server, was attentive, friendly, and made our experience wonderful! We will definitely be back to see her. The food was incredible and cooked perfectly! We got the Monday wine dinner. Came with a bottle of wine, two starter salads, and the mahi mahi and brick chicken. Amazing deal and great experience. We also started with the butternut squash soup, which was incredible, and the castroville artichoke. The manager Jake came and checked on us as well and was very friendly! Sat at the bar after and got their old fashioned. It was wondeful as well. This is now our go to date spot!

I've been to Paul Martin's a few times, and it's always a great experience. Whether it's brunch with the kids, a business lunch, or a romantic dinner for two, Paul Martin's fits the bill. The atmosphere is upscale without being stuffy, which - especially in Orange County - is a tough trick to pull off. The food and the wine selection offer both variety and quality, and the value (what you pay for what you get) is the icing on the cake. This is one of my favorite restaurants, and one I will definitely return to in the near future.

I've been told about Paul Martin's American Grill 2 years but had not made it there until this past weekend. I met some friends from down in San Diego there because some of my close friends kept bragging about it over and over. We were going to go to Javier's next door but they said... we've been there so let's try Paul Martin's. The ambiance and decor are really nice. Bar was gorgeous with plenty of seating. We were sat in a large booth, leather covered and very comfy. Started out with cocktails, ordered a nice bottle of wine and our starters were really good. Caesar Salad with fresh Kale instead of romaine. Homemade Fresh Mushroom Soup was lovely. The Cedar Plank Salmon, Brick Chicken and pasta with prawns were very good.

It was lovely & our server was great. She was very personable and was extremely helpful about suggesting menu items. Because of her, I tried their Marinated Skirt Steak with Maple Bourbon Potatoes and I was not disappointed. My boyfriend had the salmon with mashed potatoes and he loved it! We are total foodies so this was a perfect place. For the appetizers, we had the Salt & Pepper Prawns and the Kale Caesar salad. They were so delicious! The portions are normal sized and not like if you're trying to feed 4 people off of one plate. This was a good thing because we had room for dessert - the strawberry shortcake. We will definitely be coming back here again.

If you love steak, this is the place. The less expensive marinated hanger or chimichurri skirt steak are so tender. The more expensive cuts are OK, I'd prefer the hanger steak. I had the heirloom tomatoes with burrata cheese salad; that would be how I would do caprese from now on. My daughter has the corn soup that was so delightfully good. The salad and soup are wonderful as well. The service is excellent. Definitely will return to take advantages of the daily specials.

Ambiance is great. I ordered from the wine list and they were out of stock; on a second choice I got my wine. I was looking forward to a great filet mignon, but it was not on the menu. My girl friend returned her Lobster Bisque, and said she didn't have room for a main course, so I gave up on a main course too, and ordered the Seafood Platter Appetizer. This was wonderful, and highly recommended. A medium is a good size to share. Good service and attitudes; reasonably priced for a high-end restaurant.
