A word from Paul Martin's American Grill - El Segundo
Seasonal & Delicious.

With Paul Martin's American Grill, Brian Bennett and restaurateur Paul Fleming have realized a long-nurtured dream to create the restaurant "we've always wished was in our neighborhood."

At the heart of all great food is fresh, local, peak of the season ingredients. Paul Martin's aims to serve diners the best ingredients with meat raised in a humane and wholesome way, locally sourced produce, the best of both wild and farmed fish, artisan cheeses and cured meats from small local purveyors. The deep California-centric wine list twists and turns, by glass or bottle, through the Golden State's vineyards, with an occasional stop for an Oregon Pinot Gris or a Washington dry Riesling. Behind Paul Martin's elegantly rustic bar is an interesting array of craft beer and spirited cocktails with fresh garnishes. Good times and thoughtful food are a way of life at Paul Martin's American Grill.

Good fresh food, excellent drinks, and "splitable" portions. The prices on the menu along with the specials make it an affordable week day place to dine. The brick chicken was great and the fried chicken special, hard to beat both in taste and price. Paul Martin's "farm to table" s evident in the quality of the food.

There were four of us, with me on a blind date. Ok, so the date was rather disappointing, but at least I have found a new restaurant! I like that it has nice roomy booths and the acoustics are such that you can actually carry on a decent conversation which is unusual these days. The menu isn't so huge that it takes forever to order. The things they do, they seem to do pretty well. The calamari, wild mushroom soup and prawns with linguine were all delicious.

Our expericence at Paul Martin's was a wonderful surprise. We had been there for lunch but never for dinner. The food was absolutely awesome. We went for my sweetie's birthday. They sat us in the Happy Hour section. Very loud and a lot of people standing around. Not very romantic for two. Our waitress was amazing. Very tentative. Ambiance would have been great without the standing or noise from the Happy Hour crew. The food is organic and the prices are reasonable. Everyone has to try the Chimichurri pork chop. Delicious!

I don't know why we do not go to this restaurant more often because we always enjoy it so much when we do. This last time was no exception. We both loved our dinner choices and the list of wines by the glass was great as usual. What really made this time special was the waiter. We eat out 3-4 times per week so we know how to judge service pretty well. Ryan W. was the best waiter we have had wait on us in a very long time. He just handled everything so well.

our waiter kept discouraging us from ordering certain things… it was weird.. we'd pick something and he'd say - i would order that. then we'd say what do u recommend and he'd was unsure of what to say.. he did it to both of us about 4 different dishes…. i felt like telling him to 'shut up' ridiculous…. i've never seen a waiter discourage customers from ordering… also, saying,, that salad is too big for you…..' we could have taken the rest home if it was that big.. although he was polite, he was way too busy.. and gave no reason for his opinions

Although we don't eat at Paul Martin's very often, it has always been enjoyable and "yum" every time we've been there, and we consider it a great "find." Everyone in our party ordered the short rib entre, which was very tender and great with the mashed potatoes. We shared the heirloom tomato plate, but really wished we hadn't, because we enjoyed it a lot. We have always found the service to be excellent, and it was this time, too. Although we were seated on the edge of the patio, where we had hoped it would be a little quieter, it wasn't perfect for those in our group to be able to hear really well.

One of our usual waiters, George, seemed unattentive and hurried. We couldn't even get bread without asking for it several times. The Monday night dinner has reduced it's appetizer selection to nothing - everyone gets the same minimal green salad now; no more soups or salad alternatives, and the flavor was bland. Main courses are still very good. The ambiance was awful! Rock and roll music, which was loud in the dining room by 6:30 p.m., kept increasing in volume throughout the evening; making it impossible for our guests to hear each other. We tried to get someone's attention to turn it down, but couldn't.

You could drive past it over and over again and never see it. We did for years. We stopped in for lunch and was amazed. The service was superb. The food was awesome. They have the best artichokes in the south bay. It is a beautiful restaurant that isn't loud and pretty well priced. They exceeded our expectations in all areas. We will happily be returning for dinner soon.

What separates this restaurant from others is that they pride themselves on the whole "Farm To Table" aspect of their food. That is why the menu may not have the usual items on it you may find at a steak place. I had the Ribeye and it was very tasty. Pretty decent size. I enjoyed some very different wines that you don't see around much. Just remember to check the menu because if you are looking for a Filet, it may not be available.

Paul Martin's American Grill is worth the trip to get solid and tasty American-style food. The staff was friendly and was able to meet all of our requests for information or service. They recognized the milestone occasion we were celebrating and "comp-ed" our dessert to acknowledge our event. Food was ample and quite flavorful. Classic Salmon on cedar plank was especially note worthy. We will return in the future to enjoy the experience.

My wife and I have eaten at the Paul Martin's in El Segundo several times and have always found the food tasty as well as healthful (everything is organic). But when you are eating the food, you will not be thinking, "This is good for me, " as much as, "This is really delicious." We have ordered steak, fish, chicken, and polenta; all were excellent. We were also there with friends for Easter brunch. We haven't tried everything on their wine list--perhaps a good thing since we drive there--but we have enjoyed some good red and white wines. Paul Martin's also offered very good service--some of the best waiters we have encountered.

Needed a place for a late dinner after picking up friends at LAX before long drive back to south OC Simple dinner took over 40 minutes to be served despite the fact that we were there at 9:15 and the place was half empty (that should have been my clue) French dip was quite good but burger and steak salad were not what they should have been Finally to top it off my $14 pinot noir was a very light pour - really?

I first became acquainted with Paul Martin's American Grill in El Segundo when my friend gave herself a birthday party there. Upon my arrival, someone offered me an appetizer. It was so delicious, I couldn't wait to taste the food. When my dinner was served, I was not disappointed. The food was sumptuous and flavorful. I ordered grilled salmon with fresh spinach and mashed potatoes. Because the menu consists of all American food, there's no guesswork involved, no asking the waiter or waitress, "what is this exactly?" I've since given a birthday party there for my sister and my cousin. We brought in a cake from a bakery and the restaurant staff was very accommodating to us by placing the cake in their refrigerator.
