A word from Paul Martin's American Grill - El Segundo
Seasonal & Delicious.

With Paul Martin's American Grill, Brian Bennett and restaurateur Paul Fleming have realized a long-nurtured dream to create the restaurant "we've always wished was in our neighborhood."

At the heart of all great food is fresh, local, peak of the season ingredients. Paul Martin's aims to serve diners the best ingredients with meat raised in a humane and wholesome way, locally sourced produce, the best of both wild and farmed fish, artisan cheeses and cured meats from small local purveyors. The deep California-centric wine list twists and turns, by glass or bottle, through the Golden State's vineyards, with an occasional stop for an Oregon Pinot Gris or a Washington dry Riesling. Behind Paul Martin's elegantly rustic bar is an interesting array of craft beer and spirited cocktails with fresh garnishes. Good times and thoughtful food are a way of life at Paul Martin's American Grill.Continued

  • "My husband and I made a last minute decision to have a nice evening out to celebrate a major milestone in our lives. We decided on Paul Martin's and were very pleased. The food was great, the service superior but it was a bit noisy. Either way, we had a great evening and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly."

  • "I first became acquainted with Paul Martin's American Grill in El Segundo when my friend gave herself a birthday party there. Upon my arrival, someone offered me an appetizer. It was so delicious, I couldn't wait to taste the food. When my dinner was served, I was not disappointed. The food was sumptuous and flavorful. I ordered grilled salmon with fresh spinach and mashed potatoes. Because the menu consists of all American food, there's no guesswork involved, no asking the waiter or waitress, "what is this exactly?" I've since given a birthday party there for my sister and my cousin. We brought in a cake from a bakery and the restaurant staff was very accommodating to us by placing the cake in their refrigerator."

  • "Jeffrey was our server & was fantastic. Extensive menu knowledge, attentive but not obtrusive- a perfect night where two old friends were able to catch up over great food & wine! The manager stopped by the table as well, nice touch!"

  • "The food was great, but our server should not have been in customer service. Not helpful at all and very dry personality."

  • "We love going to Paul Martin's for client meetings! It's perfect and the food is delicious. Never any problems."

  • "Paul Martin's is one of the nicer upscale restaurants in the South Bay, although it is a little pricey. My date and I had the charcuterie and a platter of six shrimp and six oysters, along with two cocktails and two glasses of wine. The bill for this (with tip) came to around $150. Quite a bit for a few drinks and some appetizers."

  • "The price point and the food was a good match. I had the Polenta with the grilled veggies, Tomato cream sauce and added grill chicken. The veggies included baby carrots, different types of Kale, spinach and something I couldn't i.d but it married very well. Good choice and good place."

  • "Consistently delicious. Get the fish tacos, you can't go wrong. The prawns appetizer...wow!!!"

  • "We were disappointed with the low energy waiter who was hard to hear and not as attentive as he should have been. One of my guest's couldn't eat her Prime Rib because it was too well done."

  • "On the Open Table reservation I put in the notes that the dinner was for a special occasion, my wife's birthday and there was no acknowledgment from the Maitre D nor the Waitress. This was very disappointing since even Denny's will show their appreciate better. There are many other choices of restaurants to go to so I feel when a regular patron chooses to return and make it a point to highlight that it is for a special occasion, then I think there should be some effort to show some appreciation. This was clearly not the case and it was just another night. Perhaps this is a lack of communication from the reservation to the Maitre D and waitress or a lack of effort from Management."

  • "Happy hour is wonderful that's what I've been there for previously, and a late night drink but this time I had dinner. The brick chicken is amazing. Can't wait to try the braised short ribs."

  • "Third or fourth time there. Friendly, helpful service, excellent food, and refined, but casual ambience. This is a favorite restaurant. Hint: If you want a quiet meal, ask to be seated on the bar side of the restaurant. One time, we were seated on the other side and there was a fairly noisy large party right by our booth. On that visit, I down-rated the noise level. Our waiter told us this time that when making reservations to request to be on the side where the bar is. Large groups are never seated there and there are both booths and tables."

  • "We invited friends from our church and went after church. We had reservations for three but had an extra person there was no problem. We all order the prime rib special and it was excellent the home made ice cream for dessert was excellent three scopes, Vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. The service was excellent. Our server was Ryan, the bar tender, he not only took care of the bar but us also. Everyone was friendly and willing to serve. We had a great experience - and the food was great"

  • "Special occasion meal, hosts handled our cake and communicated to server well. Server was friendly and genuine...runner who dropped cheese and salumi did not explain any of the selections, but server picked up the ball. Either timings were off or cook times long for entrees.(even though steaks were mw 35min)we were not in a hurry and had a great time and would go back."

  • "As always Paul Martins delivers a great dinner. There was one thing that was odd. I noticed that the banana cream pie this time was lacking bananas so I was a little disappointed in that. I did let the staff know. You can not let your signature dessert be lacking in the main ingredient. But the hanger steak was great and as always the short ribs my wife had were fantastic."

  • "What brought me to this place was the fact that they serve grass fed beef and sustainably raised meats from local sources. Food tasted good and prepared to my request. low carb. I will be back for a second try."

  • "If you are on a limited budget, this is a great way to dine in a very nice restaurant. Its specialty nights include a 3 course prime rib dinner on Sunday for $25 which, if not too hungry, is large enough to split. The food is fresh with local seasonal vegetables served. The menu is not huge, but always interesting."

  • "Our server seemed distracted or over-assigned. Hard to get her attention, wine arrived late, bread arrived late and then she immediately took the side plates away"

  • "ordered a steak and opted to have fresh spinach instead of the french fries; absolutely delicious!!!!!! The service was fantastic with Jason; he covered the menu and our questions thoroughly. Would return here in an instant. I especially loved the fact that the restaurant was quiet and that there was no loud noise while we dined. The manager, Juan, even came over and asked about our dining experience and to make sure everything was fine. This is a rare find and loved the farm-to-table food. Food exceeded my expectations and reasonably priced."

  • "Always enjoy Paul Martin's for good to great meals. On the plus side: booths that are incredibly comfortable and enable us to hear each other! Servers here have always been attentive. (On occasion perhaps a bit too over-solicitous.) Prime rib on Sunday was a generous cut—price was great, although I thought the mashed potatoes slightly too "mushy." My niece declared that her salmon dish was excellent."

  • "Paul Martin's is a good restaurant with nice a atmosphere and very friendly wait staff. I would very much like them to expand their menu. I felt I need more choices. They had several fish dishes but the majority of them used farm raised salmon and I am not a fan of farm raised fish. My husband had the short ribs and he thought they were amazing. We had a seafood tower and it was excellent. The tomato soup was also very good."

  • "Interior is nice and upscale looking. Food was great -- enjoyed everything we ordered. Ribs were a total standout. The service was excellent -- drinks never went empty, plates never went uncleared. Attentive but not annoying. Couldn't ask for much more!"

  • "I believe our waiter's name was jason and he was an excellent sever. We had the butcher board and drinks. I also enjoyed hearing the details of the butcher board and how much time was put into making the cheeses and meats. I've been hear many times and it doesn't disappoint."
