A word from Paul Martin's American Grill - El Segundo
Seasonal & Delicious.

With Paul Martin's American Grill, Brian Bennett and restaurateur Paul Fleming have realized a long-nurtured dream to create the restaurant "we've always wished was in our neighborhood."

At the heart of all great food is fresh, local, peak of the season ingredients. Paul Martin's aims to serve diners the best ingredients with meat raised in a humane and wholesome way, locally sourced produce, the best of both wild and farmed fish, artisan cheeses and cured meats from small local purveyors. The deep California-centric wine list twists and turns, by glass or bottle, through the Golden State's vineyards, with an occasional stop for an Oregon Pinot Gris or a Washington dry Riesling. Behind Paul Martin's elegantly rustic bar is an interesting array of craft beer and spirited cocktails with fresh garnishes. Good times and thoughtful food are a way of life at Paul Martin's American Grill.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Always enjoy Paul Martin's for good to great meals. On the plus side: booths that are incredibly comfortable and enable us to hear each other! Servers here have always been attentive. (On occasion perhaps a bit too over-solicitous.) Prime rib on Sunday was a generous cut—price was great, although I thought the mashed potatoes slightly too "mushy." My niece declared that her salmon dish was excellent."

  • "Paul Martin's is a good restaurant with nice a atmosphere and very friendly wait staff. I would very much like them to expand their menu. I felt I need more choices. They had several fish dishes but the majority of them used farm raised salmon and I am not a fan of farm raised fish. My husband had the short ribs and he thought they were amazing. We had a seafood tower and it was excellent. The tomato soup was also very good."

  • "Interior is nice and upscale looking. Food was great -- enjoyed everything we ordered. Ribs were a total standout. The service was excellent -- drinks never went empty, plates never went uncleared. Attentive but not annoying. Couldn't ask for much more!"

  • "I believe our waiter's name was jason and he was an excellent sever. We had the butcher board and drinks. I also enjoyed hearing the details of the butcher board and how much time was put into making the cheeses and meats. I've been hear many times and it doesn't disappoint."

  • "Met with an old friend. Had always gone for lunch there, but dinner was just as good. Enjoyed the food and the drinks. Nice location off the freeway."

  • "If you have lots of time on your hand come and have dinner. If not, go for Happy Hour as you'll get better service from the wait staff. We waited over 30 minutes for our dinner and there were only 4 other tables in the restaurant with people at them. All the food was going to the bar."

  • "We went to Paul Martin's since we got a special $25 e=mail off food. I was surprised how the service was not like it usually has been in the past. We did not get drink refills. We waited a longer time to be served our food. Quality of food was great. My son's plate was dirty--he had not used it at all."

  • "tried the tues fried chicken. i truly love the sunday prime rib and happy hour best."

  • "My family of 4 had a terrible experience here. The food was inconsistent--a solid French Dip, in edible Fried Chicken and steak Cobb, and a veggie plate that was an oil slick. Though our server was pleasant, the food came extremely. And we NEVER got our pre-ordered desert. It's a nice looking place, but who cares when you spend $200 for this level of cooking."

  • "The all day Sunday prime rib was everyone's favorite. I tip my hand to the bartender who made wonderful cocktails. The service was really great also and the restaurant is lovely inside."

  • "The service was extraordinary. Great cocktails. The food was very average or below average for our party of four. Will not return for dinner."

  • "fresh food, tomatoes were fabulous. entree size was small - probably the size portions should be. if you want bread, you have to ask for it. we had short ribs (which were delicious and tender), fish (very fresh) and a very nice burger"

  • "Service somewhat slow but very nice servers. I only have had lunch experience but it was positive."

  • "nice ambiance. calamari was good, banana cream pie was delicious, strawberry shortcake was good too, mash potatoes were good, braised short ribs were soft but a bit too salty. rib eye was a bit over cooked so it was not that tender unfortunately. server was nice but very slow."

  • "This was my second time having dinner at this restaurant. I like this restaurant a lot. I find it to be very trendy and it has a great vibe about it. Our waiter was attentive, courteous and very professional. He recommended the Roasted Tomato Soup and it was outstanding. During my first visit to Paul Martin's, I had the Blackened Ribeye. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered it again and I must say I wasn't disappointed. :) The price is right and the quality of the food definitely makes this a restaurant that I will keep on my list of good restaurants to dine at."

  • "Paul Martin's has become our dinner spot before taking in a concert at the Forum, so timely service is key. The food was brought out together quickly and both the food and service were excellent. It even left us time for dessert. Will definitely be back."

  • "Friend said it was the best BLT he'd ever eaten. My salmon sandwich was tasty as well but half the size it used to be while the price had increased 20%. First time that the doors to the patio were open which made it feel open and airy vs dark."

  • "There were five of us for a Sunday evening dinner. We needed a restaurant close to LAX and this was really good. Their dinner specials are a real bargain. We had requested quiet seating, but there was a large party next to us including young children. Everything turned out okay, though. There was one big problem and that was the valet parking - very slow."

  • "Nothing spectacular but a good meal with kids in something better than the standard chain restaurant."

  • "I have been here a few times for dinner and loved it. We wanted to have an early evening dinner and unfortunately so did several people at other tables who brought many many children with horrific manners. I hope parents/grandparents step up and teach their kids how to conduct themselves in a nice place. When my daughter was a little girl I would never have let her behave with such little regard to the atmosphere and consideration of other patrons. And she never did. Food was great."

    Dined on 6/29/2014
  • "The food was clearly above average although a few items may have been slightly overpriced. I would go there again, although I was a bit surprised that we had to ask three times for water and also asked for bread which never came. I think that part of the experience will improve with a different server."

  • "Our graduation party of 20 was seated in the screened in patio although we had requested an indoor area. I have hosted events at the restaurant several times before and I am familiar with the layout. The patio area was loud (due to vehicular traffic) and quite drafty. The food was good and the special menu offered was at a great price. Since this was a special occasion, I expected special service. I have experienced much better, attentive service on earlier occasions. Hostess/Greeters need to be more welcoming and helpful."

  • "This is was a choice for father's day, they offered a prime rib meal at $25. I did not ordered this but tasted as my son had it..seasoned slightly on the salty side but tasty. Food overall was very good...Ihad a burger it was good and juicy but fries salty. What I didn't like was that they totalled my bill and added the tip as if I would not know how to do it myself. we had a 8 in our group so I expected to tip well but since they chose to add the 20% not giving more when saw bill completed, claim couldn't add tip after card is processed through system..I said it would have been nice to explain before they gave me bill so I could have tipped first and then they could have process it. I felt offended to have bill totalled out."

  • "I've been here a few times before and have enjoyed both the food and the ambience, however this time the overall experience was ok. The brunch while conservatively priced, lacked any real flavor. A bit disappointing. I've had much better omelets at lower quality establishments. Plus it took well over 45 minutes for our table to receive their entrees. The server was pleasant but appeared a little overwhelmed. Our party overall enjoyed the experience but I would not be coming back for brunch."

  • "We went to celebrate Father's Day here and will not be back. Service was terrible. After being promised bread by the waitress, we had to ask another waitress to bring it after 15 minutes of waiting. They got our orders wrong. Food was not good - don't get the fish tacos. Our daughter has a dairy allergy and there was nothing kid-friendly she could eat except french fries. On top of that we were forced to pay a 20% gratuity because our party was 10 people."

  • "We were early But we were seated promptly. Our Server gave us excellent service. On another note we tried to valet park, the attendant said our truck was to big and to park in the parking structure.I rate the parking attendant poor service."

  • "Paul Martins had a wonderful Father's Day menu. From prix fixe menu options to their traditional luncheon menu, there was something for everyone. The specials on the prix fixe menu were such a great bargain and the food choices were delicious. The bar serves up the most amazing cocktails and a second beverage was not an issue. The staff was organized, friendly and very attentive. Be sure to try Paul Martins for all your special dining experiences."

  • "We have been to Paul Martin's many times and have found that it just gets better. There are incentives to motivate you to return which not only rewards regulars, but helps remind you what good food is served and how excellent the wait staff. Had a great prime rib for Father's Day and the brick chicken is always a favorite, and then there are the short ribs and the ......"

  • "Came here with my good friend for late night dinner and drinks. It was her first time, and she loved it. The shrimp with linguine and spinach was incredibly tasty. The best dessert here is their banana cream chocolate pie. This place never disappoints and the servers are so incredibly nice and fast."
    Dined on 6/13/2014
  • "Paul Martin's could tweak just a few things to make the experience better: the place is always about 5 degrees cooler than any other restaurant and feels downright cold on cool evenings; the servers are trained to be VERY enthusiastic (they call guests "MY FRIEND" and "MY MAN") and that could be toned down; the menu doesn't change often whereas with the volume they do, they could change it up seasonally. Overall it is always a decent experience but somehow always slightly disappoints because you know they have a decent formula that could be good with a little more attention to these small things."
