A word from Patrona
Patrona Restaurant and Lounge is located in the heart of beautiful Ukiah, Mendocino County, California. We are a family-run business and view the restaurant as an extension of our kitchen and living room. Our building served as the town grocery store for over one hundred years. Now lovingly restored, it is softly lit with warm brick walls, filled with hand crafted tables from local artisans and run by a staff that cares.

Bridget and Craig, two winery chefs, opened Patrona in 2003. The simple goal was to enjoy the great area we live in and share this with our family and friends. Our mission statement is simply “Happy People”. We need to be happy about what we do and how we do it. Our guests need to be happy and feel good as well as our neighbors and future generations. This means a thoughtful and sustainable business. Our menu changes are based on today’s catch from the gardens, ocean and local purveyors.

  • "Which was also my birthday lunch. Only a very limited ' brunch only' menu... mostly egg dishes. It was 1pm. No salads listed... asked if available & waiter said he'd check if they could do one... I decided against it. My choice was tasty [ seafood crepes], but came on large plate with NO accompaniment, just three very small limp endive leaves. Very disappointing. The 1 dessert offered-- a rhubarb lemon curd tart-- was tasty, but runny, not firm. All in all... didn't seem like much effort went into a special occasion. "

  • "Items on the lunch menu seemed fresh and modern, but there was more promise than delivered. We liked the batter on the fish and chips, but the fish was not fresh. The beet salad was delicious, but the calamari seriously needed seasoning. It wasn't until afterward that I realized the calamari was supposed to have been tossed with a sauce and someone must have forgot it. Will give Patrona a second chance the next time we're in town."

From the decor to the ambience at the bar compared to the what the food and the level of service gives me the impression they're trying to get different sets of clientele in a small space. The food was decent. There were a few mishaps with our main courses. My partner had the steak and asked for it medium. It was rare. Her veg was all over the place. Some of it was slightly charred while others were raw. I had the duck special and everything was good except the sauce that was served with it. Seemed like it sat on the burner a few minutes too long. Both of our starters (mussels with white wine and a spinach salad) were excellent. The trio of chocolate was to die for...as well as the service."

  • "We went on Valentines Day; had the couples "aphrodisiac" tasting menu. woo woo! 9 courses of love on a plate. Craig and his crew outdid themselves with this one. From oysters on the half shell, threw endive with a nice mousse; to spicy shrimp, to roe on avocado; then spicy lamb; and lovely (moist) stewy chicken breast. then there were the four dessert items. cocktails are always a winner here. had the "contrary mary" with tomato and celery "shrub" mixed with spicy vodka served in a martini glass, very nice."

I had asked her where she wanted, there were several other choices. she was emphatic about going to Patrona, and I was so glad, because that is where I wanted to go too (win, win;) service is always great, it is nice to be recognized and acknowledged by the staffers. They make you feel welcomed and the place is comfortable and homey. Tried one of the winter cocktails, any of them are a winner here. We tried different items from around the menu and shared tastes. that's the fun of this place. they always bring extra plates. Soups yum, salads, yum, appetizer was a panko covered shrimp cake that was enough for 3 to share, yum. cod, duck and crepes, yum, yum, yum."

  • "As I usually have a nice dinner, I was disappointed with brunch. Service took a very long time, and then when the food arrived it was the wrong entree. Having waited so long, we just ate and left. The dish I was served, which was an eggs benedict (not what I ordered), was mediocre. Sadly, I will not return for breakfast. Maybe I'll try lunch."

Great atmosphere, attentive and friendly staff and delicious food and drinks! Dont't miss the orange callamari and any of the dinner salads. Though a little on the pricey side, it's well worth it!"
