  • Special Events & Promotions: Chef Joachim Splichal’s Patina is an impeccable choice for private events in Downtown Los Angeles. The Chef’s Table (seats 9) is a remarkable location for any intimate dining occasion and allows a personal view of the action. The Private Dining Room (seats 30) with its walnut paneling, modular glass wall, and audio-visual equipment make it an impressive choice for a lunch or dinner presentation. Tucked under the shining stainless steel exterior of Walt Disney Concert Hall and shielded from the street by a green wall of bamboo, the Patio (seats 55) is a year-round destination for lunches or pre-concert cocktails.   • "Each dish was introduced for its component parts. Beef Tenderloin-although we asked for medium it was unevenly cooked; the beef sliced in half, one side was pink, the other closer to well-done. The short rib was fork-tender and incredibly savory. The bread steward was holding what looked like a pizza box containing olive loaf & multi-grain. 2nd time he only refreshed my plate & without asking my friend walked away. Our waiter called him back to refresh her bread plate also. The 3rd time they ran out of olive loaf & substituted slices of a French Baguette. Overall, I was satisfied with the service and our main courses. We split the desert, even as small as it was, it was just enough to top off the night with a cup of cappuccino."

  • "Finally tried the flagship restaurant and was pleased. However, if I am totally honest, I'm not sure I would return. Food was good, service was great. However, when you pay over $300 for two people, I tend to have high expectations. The quantity and quality of the food did not live up the the high prices. Someone else mentioned the one scoop of potatoes, and I have to agree, it's true. I would suspect this is why the room was only half full. I see why Patina's was one of the original fine dining establishments, but it needs to find it's groove to get me back. I hope they do. Nice folks."

Was a bit disappointed - the menu was not as creative as it was all those years ago and there was hardly anyone in the restaurant on a Friday night. The food was pretty good, but for the price we paid, I would have rather gone to Providence."

  • "The food is beyond anything in the area with beautiful presentation. The service is above anything you could imagine. But Patina is more and that. Kevin, the maître d, directs his staff to be your personal care takers for the evening. From the greeting to the seating to the wine to the serving of each course and the moments in between every move was personalized. If you plan to dine before a concert, play or opera, go early and plan to return for dessert and after dinner drinks. While Patina will be sure you make your curtain, you really won't to leave. We are not foodies and don't normally eat at restaurants at this esteemed level but were treated as well as any of the elegant guests in the room. "

Cheese board best we have found in USA When we had to speed up a little towards the end they accommodated us without any problem.   • "Terrible experience. The food is minimalist - 3 shrimps as an entree? And 1/2 a paperthin sliced beet as "salad"? Appetizer of English pea tendrils in pasta very sour and inedible. The worst were the bevy of waiters who were constantly checking to "see if everything is alright" even before we had taken a bite. Then mock horror when we told them. The roast chicken ($38) was dry & tasteless We couldn't converse because they were constantly, and rudely, interrupting. We wanted to split the lime tart ($14) but it was a slim 1" at its widest apex - even the waiter apologized for its tiny form. We each could have 3 small bites. Obnoxious & patronizing staff. Patina wants us to think we are among the elite while they rip us off. "

  • "Two of us started our pre-concert dinner at 5:45. I orderer the tasting menu; my wife ordered a starter and the lobster entree. The food were excellently prepared, and presented. However, I agreed with many reviewers that the portions were not in line with the price we paid. For the $45 lobster entree, how much does it cost to have a few more spring peas ( 2 pods at maximum ) and alliums ( again, 2 pieces )? The Key lime pie from the testing menu was literally a finger width wide! Normally,my wife seldom asks for seconds in bread, which was fresh and tasty. "

  • "My mother and I dined at Patina after I surprised her with tickets to the Holiday Sing-Along with Julie Andrews at the Walt Disney Concert Hall! We had a wonderful time and the food was delicious. When we were leaving, the restaurant even gave her a small box of chocolates for her birthday! We will definitely be back if we go to the concert hall again."

  • "Everything is always near-perfect at Patina, in my experience. I've been many times, both at Disney Hall and before the move in Hollywood. This time, there were a couple of misses: the white asparagus could not be cut, even with the sharp knife provided -- a shame, as the sauce was incredible. And the sauce on the perfectly cooked lobster lacked flavor and substance. But the spring peas and greens -- heaven, in several presentations! The tuna stack -- exquisitely composed and delicious. The amuse was a silky cold asparagus soup, not to be missed!. The service was, as always, gracious and attentive. We will be back for many more pre-Phil dinners!"

  • "Patina is in a great location to go to the Disney Concert Hall. The décor is modern and seating is comfortable. The staff is attentive to a fault. We would have liked a little less intrusiveness. The food was good. Portions were small. The meal was expensive ($300 with tip) but not worth it. We have had much better meals for less. Would we eat there again? No. Also, the vegan/vegetarian options were minimal and miniscule. We have had wonderful dinners at the Orange County version of Patina, with better service, better variety of food options, and better price. Maybe it's just Orange County vs LA?"

  • "This is a hard review to do as I went many years ago to the location on Melrose. What stuck in my mind was that the food was excellent. However, the ambience was a bit stark, a bit stuff and quiet for me. The new location was even more so as it cleared by 8:00 pm due to the Disney Concert Hall next door. It made me feel uptight and not fully relaxed. I still love the food, but ambience is so much a part of my enjoyment that I am conflicted as to whether to recommend to others. I guess I will have to be specific as the food was really amazing!!!"

  • "We attended numerous Disney Concert Hall and Music Center events in the past month, and had three exceptional dinners at Patina during that time frame. We enjoyed exquisite, innovative nuanced cuisine and extremely attentive service each time -- with an amuse bouche and four to five courses. All were wonderfully balanced, artfully prepared and plated with the courses well timed and executed by the staff. The wine list, cheese course selection, service and all the minute details Patina's staff attended to really made our evenings top notch experiences. We especially appreciated Jeremy's wonderful service and Kevin's helpfulness on our last visit."

  • "The atmosphere has potential, but the details were ignored: not one of the table cloths were the same size. None of them covered the ugly black metal bases of the tables. When you arrive the tables intentially have no table settings, napkins, or glasses...not inviting or appealing. And when the greatly overpriced food arrived it was boring...the chef has not changed anything since this location opened over 10 years ago. I would give it a "must miss"."

  • "After the departure to Las Vegas of Executive Chef Theo Schoenegger several years ago, I felt that Patina went through some difficult times. A string of chefs brought varying degrees of success to the restaurant but none, in my opinion, up to the level that Theo had set. Now with a new manager, Kevin Welby, and Executive Chef Charles Olalia, Patina has made an excellent recovery. Service and cuisine are back up to the high standard we had come to expect of Patina."

  • "We were fortunate to arrive early for our reservations which allowed my wife and I to go with the Chef's choice. Quite a few of the items we would not have chosen if eating a la cart, but we would have missed out. They were all delightful. The cod was perfect. The short ribs were melt in your mouth. The subtle flavors glorious. The service is always impeccable. The water glasses filled before you can think to ask. The bread offered frequently, and always fresh. This is my number one favorite restaurant if I am going to the theater or the concert hall. I love Patina."

  • "Stylish place, in the '60's way. Very good wine. A LOT of very attentive service, there are more waiters than customers there. Very short menu, just a few dishes, everything expensive, think around $40 per dish. Portions are small and look more like Japanese art on a plate than what your mama would serve you. I personally abhor this style but can be forgiving if the food at least tastes like it pretends to. Unfortunately, there was nothing to write home about it. It was good but rather on the ok side. Salty, which is an indication to me that it wasn't prepared while you wait. All together it was alright since we were going to a concert in Disney Hall and the restaurant is in the same building. Convenient."

  • "We hadn't been to Patina in a few years because we had uneven service before a concert a few years ago. We decided to try dining there again because we had two events to attend in one week. We went with the Paelo menu for health reasons, and it turned out better than we'd expected. The amuse, salad and butternut squash soup all tasted right out of a garden -- fresh and delightfully seasoned. The main course of pork belly and pork was artistically plated and looked the size of a 7-course dinner plating; however, the portion turned out very satiating. Our dessert of a sort of coconut panne cotta was really sublime and mildly sweet. Our service was top-notch - and on-point of what I expect from Patina."

While there are certainly many restaurants in the LA area that offer incredible cuisine, they each have a unique character that, which means that they really cannot be compared. The chef's creations were incredible, the taste was incredibly refined and wonderful. The service is incredible with an incredible staff ready to assist but never overbearing. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves world class food with top shelf service!"

  • "Came here for Kobe week. It was one item on a larger menu, but that's what I wanted. The amuse was appreciated, and the soup was good, but not altogether spectacular. The Kobe dish was very good and I thought I had chosen wisely. The butternut squash ice cream was a risky choice that made me think that once is enough for that one. All in all, another good trip to Patina."
