    We offer weekday, daytime catering Monday through Friday ($250 minimum order) for delivery in Berkeley, Emeryville, Oakland, and other east bay cities.   • "My husband and I have now eaten four dinners at Pathos, and they all were terrific! Of course, we always order the octopus. It is prepared perfectly and great to share for an appetizer with either the dolmas (which have meat) or the meatballs. Two mains are outstanding: the lamb and the sea bass. Actually, the fish at Pathos is prepared in a wood oven. We don't have a wood oven at home, so we come to Pathos for a really special experience. Great flavor! We celebrated a friend's birthday this last time. The restaurant even provided a candle. Our friend said he didn't want dessert, but he ate the whole thing...with relish...and didn't even offer us a taste. We opted for superb filo with custard."

  • "Pathos wins on all counts. The room is classy, comfortable and conducive to easy conversation. The service is friendly, knowledgeable (about the food and the wine) and prompt. The food is traditional Greek fare with the polish and freshness of what we California diners have become so accustomed to. The four of us had just come from seeing the CalShakes production of "Comedy of Errors" which takes place in the ancient Greek colonies of Epheseus and Syracuse - therefore we needed a Greek fix for dinner. It worked beautifully and there were no errors in sight. We shared everything on the appetizer menu, had a bottle of white and one of red (both excellent Greek wines at fair prices) and shared a dessert fit for the Gods. We'll be back."

  • "This restaurant has the best Greek food in the Bay Area. I particularly recommend the octopus and the desserts. My wife is very fond of the fish, but I prefer the lamb. The service is usually very warm and efficient (though not on this particular night). The menu is short, but I think it has a good deal of choice."

  • "Started out with the acclaimed grilled octopus. Tasted fine, but portion was small. Moussaka came in its own baked crock, served with spinach, carrots and roast potatoes--an excellent dish with beautiful flavors. My husband liked his stuffed peppers. His birthday dessert of puff pastry in custard with fruit compote was delicate and very tasty. Cocktails were expensive, and I had a white wine recommended by our knowledgable waiter. All in all, a nice dining experience, but somehow nothing was compelling enough to come back for."

  • "Pathos has a dramatic and inviting modern interior, which despite its large space kept the noise to a moderate level so it was easy to talk over dinner. The food was all good with a very fine beet salad for starter and delicious smelts for a small course. The moussaka was outstanding for the entree and I would certainly get it again. The baklava was highly rated but I actually found it a little dry, short on the honey though clearly fresh with good ingredients. The service was good but the waiter seemed new as he took our order and left the menus with us and later took our dessert order without asking if we wanted tea or coffee. We were overall very happy to have tried a new place and will definitely return."

  • "The dolmas were tasty but slightly dry. The smelts were superb and very tasty and generous. Unfortunately, one of the main attractions, the brick oven baked whole sea bass was overcooked and dry. I would not try this dish again. I personally feel that attempting to cook a fish in a very hot brick oven is, if not doomed, very tricky to master. Some of the other portions noticed at other tables seemed a bit skimpy."

Service was also very attentive. The cocktails are imaginative and fresh. The prices are a bit steep considering it's location but portions are good and small plates are an option for those watching their budget. Will definitely recommend. The moussaka, spanakopita, and stuffed pepper were standouts."

I had moved this reservation 3 times before finally calling to move it out one more 15 minute interval. This is where our experience with Pathos begins. The manager could not have been any more accommodating to us. Once we arrived we were met with such great service, great attitude and a great table. The food, lamb and sea bass, matched the fantastic service. And the boutique cocktail list and bar perfectly rounds out nothing short of an amazing experience. We'd crawl back up the 880 again for this one! "

The pita bread is unlike any Pita I've ever tasted. Overall, the combination of atmosphere, food and service makes Pathos a place I will absolutely return to many times and suggest to anyone who will listen."

  • "Peru, our waitress, was wonderful and it was fun to have a server from Athens, Greece. Our group of four women had a variety of starters: beet salad, octopus, spanakopita, great keftedes. Two of the appetizers were a bit on the small side. Main dishes greatly enjoyed: moussaka, paidakia (lamb chops), and lavraki(fish). All of us want to return with our husbands. Excellent quality and a gorgeous dining room and bar. "

  • "Overall it was a good time but I think that was due to my company rather than the actual restaurant. The pita and dips (triada) was amazing! A must try! But our server took a while to take our order. I think we waited about 20 minutes until she made her way to us and the restaurant only had like 3 other tables. After she took our order tho, everything came out in a timely fashion and it was good food overall. I would come back for a special occasion. "

  • "I was hoping to find a good Greek restaurant, but this is not it. The restaurant is beautiful and the service was good, but the food was not up to par. I didn't find the beet salad to have much seasoning. The smelt did not come hot, but lukewarm. The saganaki didn't tasted fresh and was missing more lemon juice. The only dish I liked was the 3 dips with pita bread. "

  • " They make the best Greek food in the Bay Area. Octopus is hard to cook, but at Pathos it is tender and succulent. The meatballs are light and fluffy. The filo pastry has a faint taste of dill and just the right amount of spinach. Of course, the lamb dishes are our favorites for main courses. We have only eaten at Pathos twice, but we want to become regulars. The staff helps with wine selection and explains what each dish contains. They don't mind unusual orders (nothing but starters) and are willing to let guests share. Keep it up, Pathos. We want to bring in all of our friends."
