  • "Good overall experience, very friendly staff. After reading the reviews on line I had a high expectations for the food. We had two apps and two small plate specials. The apps were good. The Deep Fried Pickles we TERRIFIC! The Boiled Peanut Hummus with Veg Sticks were on "par" with others I have had in Charleston, SC. Bread-sticks or Crackers would have been a great match with the Hummus. The two Specials were not appealing at all or worthy of mentioning by name. Next time we will stick to the menu!"

We shared the pimiento cheese with Ritz crackers (a must), pork meat balls with rice and mushrooms, and a sauteed spinach. All delicious. Great place to eat before heading two blocks down to the Capital Theater for a show."

  • "We loved our dinner at Pasture. Local, home made food that is just delicious! I had the sirloin with potatoes & asparagus, my husband had their burger & fries. Both were done to perfection. Good amount of food, but not too much like so many places. We shared the "candy bar" for dessert. What a yummy treat! Our waiter Phil was there just before we need him every time & took excellent care of us. If you're going to Richmond, be sure & check out this little gem!"

  • "Wasn't sure what to expect but was pleased with location as I typically stay downtown Marriott or Hilton Garden Inn. It was a short 1 block away and atmosphere was nice. The waiting staff were extremely attentive! Enjoyed 2 small plates. Both the homemade fried clams and crispy ham pork ribs were outstanding! Please with portion despite stating small plate. The 2 made a great meal. Undecided on which wine so waitress offered me a taste of both. Very much appreciate the offer as I chose the other wine, not the one I was leaning towards. Look forward to going back and trying more and also enjoying their happy hour!"

  • "This has been on my radar for sometime - and I certainly won't wait that long before we go again. The staff was great, and there is a wide and different variety of food available - including smaller portions. I had two of those - the sauted spinach, and steak tartare. We began with sharing pork skins, a decadent food that we don't do very often. Husband had steak and there was no problem substituting mashed potatoes for the parsnip puree, which didn't appeal to either of us. The restaurant supports local food, both meat and veg, definitely a plus. Hope to return very soon. "

  • "The food was very good--had two small plates and the pimento cheese crackers snack. All were outstanding. I'd call the menu "modern southern" though more modern southern comfort food, not elegant. The menu is interesting and the offerings were fresh and good, but I didn't find the food sophisticated or particularly healthy--more heavy than I'd have liked. There's nothing wrong with that, I just had a different perception of what to expect. The décor is bright and lively. It's loud--if there's a lot of people there, turn up the hearing aid. The service was outstanding. Waitress was adorable and attentive without being bothersome. Beer list is good. I'd definitely recommend, just with the caveat the food is not what the name implied."

  • "Having heard good things about "Pasture" from more than one close acquaintance, I expected better than we experienced. Two different Pinot Noirs were drinkable but not worth the money; the cocktail had no alcohol; appetizers were tasty but too caloric and greasy; entrees were boring; the desserts highly variable (mine nearly inedible; others in our party were happier.) Our server was pleasant and efficient. I'd be willing to go again, but a repeat of this experience would result in crossing it off my list."

  • "We ate at Pasture before attending a show at the National. We ordered the pimento cheese and cracker (so yummy!), the pork rinds (tasty and crispy!) and the popcorn (seemed stale and only very lightly flavored). We had a round of delicious drinks - they offer some great unusual cocktails but also are able to serve up the classics in a good way. All four of us ordered the burger. I have had probably thousands of burgers in my life and this was probably the BEST one I have ever had - cooked well, thick grass fed patty, great toppings and the fries were awesome. We all completely cleaned our plates. Fabulous dinner! Can't wait to go back."

  • "I tried Pasture at the recommendation of a friend. I was not disappointed. When we arrived at 8:30 prompt, the place was packed. That's a good sign. I did have a reservation but my table was not ready. I have worked the food industry and totally understand this. It's very difficult to juggle reservations and walk-ins and then judge how long a party is going to take before they finish up and leave. So myself and my party went to the bar and had a drink. We were sat in approximately 10 to 15 minutes. We had the pimento cheese w/ Ritz crackers and fried sweet pickles for apps. Both were absolutely delicious. The amount of pimento cheese they served was huge. I will definitely go again!!"

  • "Took my spouse to Pasture for his birthday. it was pretty lively, given the Collegiate bike race going on a couple blocks away. Amazing food, and our server was great, although she was a little late bringing the spouse the flight of beer. High end dining without that "stuffy" feeling. Noisy, but nothing to be done about that given the hard surfaces. "

  • "Having read the reviews my 3 friends and I were looking forward to a great meal. We chose 7 different plates from what seemed to be a creative menu with the help of a knowledgeable waiter. The food arrived and we tucked in with enthusiasm. A plate of French fries was sent back immediately because they were room temperature. After 2 bites of the other 6 dishes we came to the unanimous conclusion that every member of the kitchen staff responsible for seasoning the food was a heavy smoker. Across the board our food was so oversalted we could hardly taste what we were eating. We won't be back?"

  • "We originally had a group of 8 that grew to 10 and felt welcome (although we did have a 5:00 reservation). This is one of the few venues in Richmond that can accommodate 10 people and allow them to not shout to hear each other. Then there is the food - fresh, tasty, great combinations that you would not see elsewhere. We relaxed for over 2 hours and never felt rushed. "

  • "I went to dine there with high expectations. From word of mouth and reading reviews, Pasture shared high ranks with some other notable top end and up and coming restaurants. I think the experience started out great due to atmosphere and anticipation but fell short due to lengthy periods of time waiting for service. Appetizers were good. Craft cocktails were awesome for the most part. The consensus about dinner from my group and I were, average and bland. The food wasn't bad by any means, it just lacked that " wow " factor that I ve read about. Service was polite but at times absent. I will go back in the future so I hope to see thing s turned up a notch to make this a great place to go not just average. "

Cocktails are always delicious We love the surry(smoky bourbon and ginger) and the Amelia ( lavender lemon drop). We were there on a very busy Tuesday and the bar was hopping. Always a good time at this place. Try the peanut hummus!"

  • "I'd been to Pasture once for lunch and enjoyed it, and finally made it here for dinner last Friday night before the opera at Center Stage. The food was good, but nothing memorable. The best items were the "snacks" - both the black-eyed pea falafel and the pumpkin seed hummus were unusual twists on their standard preparation. But the fennel on the winter greens salad was over candied, and the greens were tough. The sirloin steak entree (had by someone at my table) was also ok, but unremarkable (the side of brussels sprouts and squash was much better than the broccolini that came with the steak). Needs more wines by the glass. Service was similarly just ok. With so many other wonderful places in Richmond, Pasture isn't on the top of my list."

  • "My husband and I ate here the other night and our first impression was not the best, we walked through the door and announced we had a reservation and they sat us at a four person table which already had two people sitting there. Really family seating at a restaurant of this quality? Needless to say we requested another table. The actual seats are extremely uncomfortable! I get the farm to table theme but wooden chairs with no cushions and the bar has metal stools that I remember having in art class when I was in middle school. As for the food, it was just okay not what i was expecting from previous ratings. I would consider this very over priced especially for the country style they are going for."

  • "From the outside it looked like a typical restaurant, but once inside I realize this was a nice cozy place. The kitchen was open so you could watch your food being cooked which I liked. Everyone at that place stayed busy. I don't think I saw anyone standing around. The drinks, well the "sweet" tea wasn't sweet at all and the lemonade that I order caught me for a surprise. Its wasn't the normal sweet lemonade, but more like lemon added to sparkling water and spritz. It was different, but in a good way. I found it interesting that every refill I got came in a different looking mason jar with a straw. My cheese burger came hot juicy! The portion of the sandwich and fries I ordered was just right for me. I left there full! overall nice place"

  • "We were in Richmond to go to a concert at The National. We heard about Pasture and since it was close to the theater we decided to give it a try. We decided to try a fish special. The fish was fresh, but it was a little dried out. The vegetables seemed overcooked and were unappealing. The beer selection was good. Service was acceptable, but was a little slow even though the restaurant was almost empty."

  • "Loved it! First date and it was great! The friendliest staff I've encountered in Richmond. They went out of their way to accommodate my needs. I have lots of allergies and most places make you feel like a pain but my server could not have been more pleasant. She recommended things from the menu and then had the kitchen modify a few things. Everything was delicious. I can't say enough nice things about this place. Get the candy bar for dessert!"
