Pastina TrattoriaWonderful traditional ItalianWonderful traditional Italian food, at fair prices. Good size portions too. Terrific and friendly service and support staff. One of the most underrated high quality Italian restaurants one will find in LA.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMContrary to some reviews weContrary to some reviews we found service to be fine. This was our first visit and we will return. Went on Monday eve at 6. By time we left it had gotten busy. We both had the special menu for $26 which is a good value. My husband had the lamb chops - very good and I had the scampi. Sauce for the shrimp was wonderful and I used the good bread to sop up all that mushroom sauce.
The one thing mentioned by other reviewers we did find true. Frank, the owner, only seemed to greet people he obviously knew. He should learn to work all the tables. All it takes is asking how they are enjoying their meal, etc. It will add to the ambiance of the restaurant and make all patrons feel appreciated.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food but noisy!Pastina was as good as always. They have instituted a pris fixe menu of 4 courses for the very moderate price of $25--the equivalent of a main course plus an appetizer. According to our waiter, this has filled the restaurant nightly. And I do mean filled. We were not rushed to turn over the table, and the service was good (amazingly, considering the crowd), but the noise level was extremely high. We were there with several soft-spoken people as well as the loud-voiced among us. It was impossible to hear anyone but those sitting directly next to one. The soft-spoken truly had to speak directly into one's ear. Obviously, this was quite frustrating. I'd recommend it for the food, the ambiance but caution you about the noise.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional Food!Hadn't been in years, we kept asking each other why we stopped coming! We loved everything!!!
