Went for dinner and had a good
meal. Appetizers are really small and overpriced. You can get the same things on Argyle St for much cheaper and larger size, like the spring rolls. Cocktails tasted good but again expensive. Didn't last more than a few sips. Loved the clay pot salmon. Nicely cooked and great flavor. Bo Luc Lac was also very tasty. Desserts were way too heavy. A couple lighter choices would be nice. Looks like a lot of good items on the menu to try at future visits. Service was good but a seemed a little to casual for the atmosphere and food the restaurant is trying to portray. Not likely to be a restaurant we'd come to regularly but a good once in a while or special occasion place."

I finally made it in to Pasteur
over the weekend and was very disappointed. The food was no different than what you would find in any spot on Argyle and we tried 7 different dishes. Our server was very nice, but would not come to the table unless we flagged him down. The space is beautiful and every staff member we came in contact with was friendly. However, the average food will keep me from going back."

On our most recent visit to
Pasteur was a great experience! We sat in the rear outdoor patio which is so lovely and peaceful! The authentic Vietnamese menu has lots of choices, it is so hard to decide what to order. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. We can't wait to return!"

Second trip to Pasteur, first was
on a frigid night diring restaurant week. excellent again with two minor comments; could not be seated outside due to a private party (minor) and the accompaniments listed on the menu for the delicious pork tenderloin entree were substituted with what appeared to be frozen peas and carrots, which was disappointing. Still overall great food service and ambiance."

always been one of my favorite
restaurants. Very elegantly decorated. Excellent food - presentation and taste! - excellent choices on the menu. Everything tastes fantastic! The wait staff add the oomph factor to the experience. All of them are very warm, friendly, caring and super efficient! I think half the battle is having patient warm caring wait staff and these guys have the best of them!"

The food was wonderful. The staff
couldn't have been nicer. We were there for our anniversary and everyone was so kind and helpful. Everything we tried was delicious."

Great food, wonderful service. We
will be back soon."

We are very glad we gave Pastuer
another try! The new Pastuer is lovely. The windows were open and a gentle breeze kept us cool. We opened with fresh and delicious small plates and moved onto satisfying and amply portioned main courses. When Pasteur reopened a while back we were initially disappointed at the small portions and expensive prices. Now the menu has been fine tuned to include large and small plates so that diners can try many of the nicely prepared dishes. The service was very friendly, helpful and easy going. They were slightly short staffed but we never felt ignored. The dishes arrived quickly but not so quick that we couldn't enjoy a cocktail and glass of wine with dinner. We will go back to enjoy the lovely patio."

I need say no more than the title
of this review.... everything was excellent. Morgan is THE BEST SERVER on the planet and congrats to Kim for keeping everything magnificent at Pasteur."

Excellent egg-plant side dish,
which we had as an appetizer. The spring-rolls were flavorless. Would not order any shrimp item from this restaurant: their shrimps were tasteless. There was a heavy reliance on the sauces for flavor in all the dishes, however, the duck breast was savory and quite good. We had to wait a good 15 minutes before any waitstaff came to our table, and we were informed that our assigned waiter Elliott(?)was nowhere to be found. However, Lindsay took over and provided excellent service."

Great restaurant. Friendly servers
and nice atmosphere. Will go back again. "

Beautiful space with courteous
servers. The service was a little slow, but I think it was unusually busy due to Memorial Day Weekend as well as Bike the Drive happening the next morning. The server was very apologetic-- they were probably understaffed that night. The food was once again spectacular. The vegetable spring rolls had my mouth doing handsprings, with fresh lettuce, cilantro, and pickled carrots for wrapping as well as a light but flavorful dipping sauce. I once again had the signature beef-steak and it was just as consistently delicious as it was before-- cooked to perfection with a red-wine reduction sauce I wanted to lick off the plate, over a bed of refreshingly contrasting watercress."

Went to Pasture's for 36 wedding
anniversary dinner. It was excellent from the food to the service. Look forward to returning."

Stepping into Pasteur, you'd think
you walked off North Broadway in Uptown and into a swanky River North or Gold Coast digs. The rustic tile floors, white wainscot walls, wicker chairs and slow spinning ceiling fans coupled with gentle and relaxing French inspired music quickly create an ambiance of a French Vietnam Colonial restaurant. Service was excellent, the cocktails were refreshing, and the food was light, delicious and full of flavor. To top it off, the entree prices are extremely reasonable, making it perfect for a weeknight dinner that doesn't break the bank or an enjoyable weekend date where you can indulge a little more in the specialty cocktails or a nice bottle of wine. "

This is a nice room with a decent
wine list and good service. The cocktails are a bit overhyped, but the food is a muted version, at a greater cost, of what you can get three blocks south on the same street. My wife and I got all gussied up and went out here for our 13th anniversary, and ultimately wished we'd stayed in jeans and t-shirts and gone BYO to one of the Vietnamese restaurants down around Argyle. Nothing we had was bad, but everything was just a little more boring than what we're used to with this cuisine."

..........when it's reasonable
quiet. When we arrived, for a 6:30 reservation, it was pleasantly quiet. The place was about 1/3 full. An hour later, they were quite full, and we could barely hear one another. On this occasion, we sat inside. I have sat in the patio before, and it was delightful, and nowhere near as noisy. We had a little problem, when my companion's entree was delivered "extra spicy," which she did not specify, nor did she want it. They did, however, take it away apologetically, and replaced it quite quickly."

Had Mother's Day lunch with family
on the outdoor patio. Wait staff was great was the food was excellent. The ambiance outside is fantastic and very relaxing. Would highly recommend."

The ambience is beautiful, good
service, and delicious food. I would like to see less expensive wines on their wine list,"

Went with the girlfriend for a
date night on a Friday at 7pm and it was empty. Space was beautiful and clean. Service was fast and my water glass was never empty. Generous pour when I ordered a Buffalo Trace neat. GF's martini was delicious (too sweet by itself but great with food). Salmon egg roll appetizers were delicious. GF had the vegetarian option in the noodles section and it was delicious, had all sorts of veggies- the sauce was light, and while flavorful, allowed for the flavor of the tofu and veggies to come through. The beef steak was incredible- cooked to perfection, mouthwatering sauce I wanted to lick off the plate, worked beautifully with the watercress. Flourless chocolate cake was awesome. 10/10 will dine again."

always a good time coming here,
service is very friendly, food is always superb, they added some small plate for more choices and freedom to pick more food. "

Pateur is a nice restaurant with
good service and very good Vietnamese Cuisine, it is a bit pricey by highly recommended"
Dined on 4/17/2014
It was an occassion. We brought
our own wine. The server whose ( her ) name i forget was a huge part if the enjoyable experience. I dislike restaurants in general but we will be back to check out the garden during warmer weather. Thoughtfully prepared fresh ingredients by owner chef. "
Dined on 4/16/2014
Pasteur is really a beautiful
restaurant with the feel of a real restaurant in old Hanoi. The food is very good and prices are reasonable. Great value-priced wine list! This time our service was lacking, but we'll be back soon."
Dined on 4/12/2014
Food and service were great! Room
and bar were very comfortable. We'll be back."
Dined on 4/12/2014
The dining room is absolutely
stunning and a pleasure to be in. The staff is always very pleasant, knowledgeable, and work hard to make guests comfortable. Although the menu features both Vietnamese and French dishes, I always order Vietnamese and have never been disappointed. My favorite is the claypot tofu with vegetables. I look forward to dining here again as soon as possible!"

We had a Groupon to Pasteur and so
glad we purchased it. We probably wouldn't have found this restaurant otherwise. They went all out by putting their best dishes on the Groupon menu. The best part of the entire evening was our server Roseanna. She made impeccable recommendations for starters and wine. As good as the food was - she was even better. The beef roll starters were delicious! The spices they used in the beef entree were also mouth watering. Definitely will be back!!!"

We went to Pasteur recently
because we had a Groupon. We were so impressed with the ambience and quality of this restaurant given the location. This is truly a neighborhood gem,"
Dined on 3/14/2014
If you're looking for something a
little bit different, Pasteur is a good bet. The food was varied and all quite good. Tables not too close together. Decor less "colonial" than it used to be. Prices a bit better."
Dined on 3/8/2014
Nicholas was our waiter when we
went there. He was sweet and very helpful. His recommendations were awesome and delicious. I lived a few blocks east of the location and never heard of it until we went on OpenTable. I'm so glad that we tried this place. We will definitely go back there. LOVE IT."
Dined on 3/5/2014
A god meal with somewhat uneven
service. Dishes weren't cleared in a timely manner and drink delivery times were lagging. I do like the food and would certainly give this place another chance. Used to be a favorite before it closed down and I hope they can return to former glory."
Dined on 3/1/2014
My friends and I ended up going
here because our previous dinner plans got messed up. It was 8:10 pm on a Friday and Pasteur said they could have a table ready for 4 and a high chair in 15 min. It was a great experience. The service was great and so was the food. It was the first time for all of us. We definitely will be going back."
Dined on 2/28/2014
It has been awhile since I was
here but Pasteur never disapoints. Friendly and helpful wait staff and colorful and flavorful food."
Dined on 2/22/2014
We had the prix fixe menu with a
groupon. It was very good, but I'd like to return and try the regular menu. Still, the prix fixe menu got us to try it. The clay pot salmon and signature beef dish were excellent."
Dined on 2/14/2014
The food was fine, but it was on
par with anything you could get at a smaller and cheaper neighborhood thai or Vietnamese restaurant. The service was rude. We were rushed from the beginning despite the restaurant being pretty empty (both when we arrived and as we were leaving). It was Valentine's Day, and the waitstaff cleared my plate before my boyfriend finished his, so it was awkward. Still, the experience proved to be romantic because my boyfriend and I could bond over the overwhelming mediocrity and snippy waitstaff."
Dined on 2/14/2014
My husband and I wanted to have a
romantic dinner there. The restaurant was quiet and considered romantic, and we like the bartender. However, the service was poor (we had to ask for utensils, plates, etc), and the staff really wanted to take our dishes away even we were still eating. The food was just ok, but the price was ridiculous high. Comparing to other Vietnamese places around Argyle (very closed by), we would rather go to Argyle then coming back to Pasteur."
Dined on 2/7/2014
We've always wanted to try Pasteur
+ liked the Restaurant Week menu selections so we braved the cold + snow for a lovely experience."
Dined on 2/6/2014
Pardon the pun. It was special
birthday for my wife Marcia and we chose this restaurant to celebrate. We had the place to ourselves for most of the early weekday evening. We loved the apetizers, drinks, and French music in the background. The soups were out of this world"
Dined on 2/4/2014
The best thing about this place
was the desserts and the decor. The noodle and tofu dishes were nothing special beyond regular Argyle fare, besides using better vegetables."
Dined on 2/2/2014
visited Pasteur on a VERY cold
eveining, but the warmth of th service and foos in a lovely atmosphere was wonderful. will definitely be back"
Dined on 1/28/2014
I pass by this restaurant
regularly and snapped up a Groupon for a four course meal for two. Great selection for the Groupon menu and I will definitely return and try other things on the menu."
