PassionFish - Reston VAOne of the best meals I haveOne of the best meals I have had in years. Not inexpensive, but the quality of the food and the level of service makes it worth the cost.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat appetizers and deserts,Great appetizers and deserts, but entrée is hit or miss--some very good others just OK. The sauce on my fish was ordinary--supposedly spicy but almost tasteless.. Perhaps because it was Friday night, prime time, it was very noisy--almost too noisy for a conversation.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMContinuity on all levelsIn addition to all the excellent cuisine, wines and service, Passion fish has an urbane atmosphere which keeps me coming back. It is such a relief not to be forced into some thematic neverland. The large volume of the central space surrounded by seating areas of varied scale is a work of masterful restaurant design, suitable for any occasion and size of party. While the chair and table hights are laudably well tuned to each other, armchairs would be be a nice choice for those who like conversation over after dinner drinks.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMdelightful dinner! We came here to celebrate graduation. The food was great -- seafood, but prepared in new and different ways. The lobster-topped mashed potatoes were a big hit with everyone. Our server was very attentive. A very enjoyable evening.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing MealIt was an amazing night. We had a dear friend in and wanted to do an excellent fish meal. If you love fish go to Passion Fish (one steak and one chicken entree on the menu had us laughing). Service was excellent. Can't wait to go back.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSushi + Wine = LoveMy partner and I ducked in here on a whim after recently moving to Reston. We couldn't have been more pleased with the impulse. We stuffed ourselves with four sushi rolls, which were more than plenty for two people to have for dinner. The quality of the fish uses was superb and the flavors spoke for themselves. Good sushi and a great bottle of wine - not much to complain about. I definitely recommend the captain crunch roll and the dynamite roll.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMThere was so many good appetizersThere was so many good appetizers that I never made it to the entree course. The sushi was amazingly good. I also ate a tuna tartar that was really delicious. The only complaint food wise was the wedge salad was nothing special, but was satisfactory. My wife ordered the halibut which I tasted and that too was delicious. Would recommend to anybody that doesn't mind spending a little money for a great meal.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Dinner!!Every time we come here we are never disappointed!! Our waiter was AMAZING!! The crawfish special was to die for and perfect amount!! They made our special dinner memorable!!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMA True Pearl for Sea Food LoversI just attended a farewell luncheon, and it was my first time at this restaurant. The service is impeccable, and I have to say that the rème brûlée is out standing! I would definiatly recommend this place.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AM1 of the best seafood places n NoVAThis is one of the best seafood restaurants in Northern VA. The regular dishes are always good and the specials are great. Wine list could be better by having some good wines with a lower price but the cocktail options are great. It's not cheap but worth it.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMIncredible Seafood and SushiAlways have a wonderful meal at Passionfish. Very nice menu and fresh fish specials. Service is friendly and efficient. Also love their happy hour bar menu as well.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and great serviceWe had been to the PassionFish bar for sushi and oysters, which are amazing, but we just went for dinner for our anniversary. It was wonderful! The service was outstanding. We each had a selection from the Catch of the Day and we took the waiter's recommendation on which sauces to choose. The fish was perfectly cooked and so delicious with the sauces. Even the sauteed spinach side was remarkable. It is on the expensive side but well worth it, especially for a special occasion. We look forward to going again.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a great mealWe love Passionfish. The food is always fresh and well prepared, the service is attentive without being intrusive, and we always leave feeling spoiled. This occasion however was very special. We were celebrating our 16th wedding anniversary. Imagine our delight at being tucked into a cozy booth with a menu made especially for us wishing us "Happy Anniversary!". It was just perfect! The food was wonderful, we had a little bit of everything! Cannot wait for our next dining experience at Passionfish.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentIt was so good we had dinner and lunch here in less than 24 hours!6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMPassionFish is ALWAYS Wonderful!Once agian, a beautiful evning at Passionfish -- our overall favorite restaurant in the DC area. Excellent service, interesting and tasty food (in just the right portions), and a low to moderate noise level that encourages conversation at the table.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMTop notch serviceWe went here at the request of my husband for his birthday. Our group was made up of ourselves, his parents and his brother. His parents mainly speak Spanish and we typically order for them when we go out. However, once we were seated at a charming table (which fit all of us comfortably) our waiter appeared and immediately jumped into a litany of Spanish. Turns out that he was from El Salvador so he switched between the two languages easily which put our party in greater spirits since my in-laws could ask questions about the menu directly.
Service was great and when the main course came out, there were 3 waiters / waitresses that encircled the table and put everyone's meal down at the same time. Talk about presentation!6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMPassionFish doesn't get thePassionFish doesn't get the attention it deserves. Consistently great seafood, standing out even more in a metro area severely lacking in good seafood restaurants. While all of the choices are good, it's tough to go wrong with picking a simple preparation of one of the daily fish choices.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife's and my first visitMy wife's and my first visit to PassionFish was to celebrate our anniversary and it will be a memorable one for the food and service received that evening. The combination of unique cocktails, appetizers, and preparation of entrees support the name behind the restaurant. We experienced extraordinary flavor with all our selections after having been provided a very detailed and articulate description by our server. Great pride was taken in giving us these descriptions right down to ingredients an flavor hints of the sauces. The bisque and Octopus appetizers were outstanding starters and the Szezuan Eggplant was tremendous with the Sword fish steak ordered.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMPassionate about PassionFish! We loved everything about it! PF made our birthday guest feel extra special and aimed to please us from the moment we walked in the door. The food was scrumptious--the steaks were just as delicious as the seafood/fish. The fish selection is outstanding and eclectic. The prices are reasonable too! Did I mention the yummy cocktails and smooth wine? :-)6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMFresh Seafood, great recipesWonderful seafood, wonderfully executed. Pricey but worth it.
I've had whole grilled branzino here and whole crispy flounder. Both were amazing. My wife's salmon was perfectly cooked.
Lobster pot. Ridiculously good.
Benn twice in the last month and will definitely go back soon.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways goodAnother nice meal at PassionFish. Both Kamikaze Roll and Captain Crunch Roll were great and the Sockeye salmon had great flavor and texture with nicely crisped skin.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMNever a disappointment!Always wonderful - our favorite local restaurant for lunch, dinner, or happy hour!5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGood seafood, great sauces and sideLadies night out -- we had signature drinks and yummy meals. Lobster Bisque, one of our favs was given a big thumbs up. The mussel dish was huge, and again yummy. Salmon was a little overcooked, but the sauce made up for it.
We were there early, so it was quiet and great for talking - left at 7:30 when things started to rev up, and the noise level got too high for comfortable girl talk.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways fresh and inventiveMany of the standard menu items are delicious, but I usually choose one of the chef's specials. The soft shelled crabs are wonderful! any the ceviche app is better then South or Central America.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMDylan = best server ever.Dylan = best server ever. Terrific experience. Terrific dinner. Always top-notch.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was awesome! If you're going to Reston Town Center for seafood, you have to go to Passion Fish. Everything was delicious! Our waiter was great - friendly and attentive. He also gave us wonderful recommendations. We didn't feel rushed and we didn't have to wait for anything. The lobster-butternut squash soup was outstanding as were the donut holes for dessert. We will be back!5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMA little pricy, but always goodThe sushi apps are some of the best around. The entrees are consistent but could use some updating and innovation, especially given the prices. Had the lobster clay pot, usually love it, but was just ok this time. Overall, our party enjoyed dinner.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMOur Reston favoriteFresh fish and seafood prepared perfectly . Sushi too. Not pretentious, always friendly . We come often to visit family but if I lived in Reston I'd be here every week!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMseafood restaurant favoriteService was timely, fully explained and knowledgeable about the menu. generous piece of swordfish. Very flavorful! Eggplant side is a personal favorite! All around enjoyable evening for a special occasion.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for mealGreat place for a nice business lunch or a dinner with wife. Might not be for the person who doesn't enjoy fish or season.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMMaria's Birthday DinnerOur table of seven all enjoyed our dinners and the service that was provided. Passion Fish is our favorite seafood restaurant in the area. On the way out we found our favorite waitress; a Russian lady who we had several months ago on a special occasion.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service! This restaurantGreat service! This restaurant has really caught onand can be very noisy.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was spectacular! ServiceFood was spectacular! Service very attentive, gave good advice. Verde sauce a great match with the Mahi Mahi.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic but bring your walletOur waiter/server was spectacular, his knowledge and presentation of the menu items - food and wine - were best I've ever heard at any restaurant. They let the four of us eat at our own pace, which meant sitting at 8 and being last table in the place at 11:30, and were very good about keeping an eye on the wine serving. Great food, great atmosphere, but when the check came, it was a bit shocking. No issue paying for a great meal and location, but this was a premium. I'd recommend it to all, go eat great food and have fun, but hit the ATM on the way there.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love Passion Fish for aWe love Passion Fish for a special occasion dinner spot. The food is always fantastic and the service is friendly and professional.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversary dinnerWe had a little table tucked away on the back wall with low lighting upstairs it was perfect. Our waiter was prompt and friendly and informative. We order the Thai Chili muscle entree to start with - very good. I was surprised that it didn't come with bread to soak up the yummy sauce, but our waiter hooked us up. For the main course we shared the Arctic Char with the bourblanc sauce and a smoke house salad. I'm not sure with we were thinking not only did we not need the salad because we had a side of mushrooms and asparagus (both awesome), but the strong smokey flavor of the bacon and smoked guda was so mismatched the the delicate flavor of the fish. The fish was done well with a crispy skin and that sauce is a favorite.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWe always love PassionFishWe always love PassionFish and have never had anything less than a great time. The food is delicious, the service was excellent and we had our favorite table......an altogether perfect evening.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent! The scallops were the best I've ever had. Service was fantastic too. We sat outside and had a fantastic time until some cigar smoking folks decided to sit nearby.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat outdoor lunchThe weather was so beautiful on Friday we ate out on the patio which is lovely. However, there is construction going on right now so it was a bit noisy. I probably wouldn't eat outside again for a while until the construction moves to the next phase. Food was great as always - ceviche is one of the best in town. Rolls are always good too.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMhigh pricesI have not been to a dinner here in a little bit (been eating the $5 happy hour a lot) and was shocked at the high increase in prices,. My favorite dish, the bronzino was $40 for grilled fish. I thought that was outlandish and the crabcakes were $38. I have no idea what brought on such a huge jump in prices, but from now on, i have to stick with the happy hour and i learned to cook the bronzino at home.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFor our anniversary me brideFor our anniversary me bride chose Passion Fish over L'Auberge Chez Francois. She likes it that much! I have favorites on the menu, but was seduced by soft-shell crab on a bed of salsa.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMServerOur server was fabulous! Well informed about menu, ingredients and prep. She was attentive without being intrusive. Sorry I didn't get her name. We would request to sit at her table in the future.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBest seafood in areaButternut lobster soup....delic....beet salad, good but small serving for the price.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWish it weren't so far awayA chance visit to Reston gave me a chance to try Passion Fish, and I came away sorry it's so far away. Everything was fresh, the lunch assortments varied and imaginative, and the venue very comfortable for a lunch with an old friend on her way to Dulles. Replicate it closer to town and you can be sure I'll become a regular.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFlounderI had the crispy flounder - skin on - perfection. Mothers Day so I sprang for a Merseult - great pairing. Mom got the Icelandic Haddock. Desert was a rhubarb strawberry crisp. Worth writing a review on, need I say more?5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day 2013I took my wife and teens here for a special Mother's Day Lunch. Everything was as perfect as could be, the atmosphere, the food, and the service. I'll be sure to take out of town guests and family here, at least the ones I want to spoil.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect Mother's Day DinnerWhat an amazing dinning experience. Our server Goulnara, was perfect. She explained the dinner menu flawlessly. Stopping to explain details of each dish. We had appitizers of Oysters and Sushi. Both were perfect. My wife ordered the broiled scallops with pasta and bacon. I ordered, on Goulnara's recommendation, the Bronzini. This Mediterranean Sea bass is served whole and filleted table side by the server. It was delicious!
This was the third trip to this restaurant and again were not disappointed. It's one of the best sea food restaurants I have ever experienced and has kept the personal service and quality of food at the highest levels.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat evening saved by greaserviceThis is a great restaurant and this was a return visit. The food was as great as ever. The restaurant a little noisy but enjoyable none the less. A potential evening spoiler, a full glass of water spilled over my wife's setting, plate, dress and chair, was rescued by a great waiter. He was there immediately, no questions, he went into recovery mode. Everything was done so quickly, quietly and perfectly that we were back at our dinner in moments - with a replaced entree for my wife. Our waiter saved the evening - thank you.
K5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat menu!Everything we ordered was beautifully presented, fresh and very delicious!. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and helpful with suggestions. The restaurant is comfortable and elegant. Get a reservation early, they are busy!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGood place to eatThis is a very nice restaurant for date night or business dinners. Very nice looking place inside, wonderful and knowledgeable servers, and good food. Prices were about $28-$38 on average for entrees. Would recommend.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
