Amazing. I was expecting a more romantic darker swankier resturant. But the food was amazing, J.P our waiter was steller. I mentioned thru "open table" it was our annivarsery. And to my suprise, on the top of the menu, said. "Happy 22nd Wedding Annivarsery Rob & Susie." That did it for me. Every time im in town im going to Passion Fish.

We went there based upon recommendation of locals where we stayed for 2 days. Everything was perfect, tasty, well seasoned and the mix of ingredients, from the appetizer to dessert was wonderful. We truly appreciate our diner there. Service with John was very kind and he suggested us some mix food/wine. Wine list is very rich too and prices are wallet friendly!

My husband and I were in Monterey for an anniversary trip and had heard great things about Passionfish. We had a great experience! It was by far our favorite meal of the trip. The rockfish and the sturgeon were terrific. The server was very knowledgeable about the impressive and extensive wine list. Highly recommend!

Had a pleasant time. Service was excellent. The markup on wines is minimal, and the list extensive. Had avocado-crab salad, which was excellent. The Rockfish was also delicious, except the rice looked and tasted like something that was scraped up from the bottom of a pot.

Excellent -- everything from food quality to wine list to reasonable prices. Try the fried oysters with SE Asian-inspired kimchee, the seared scallop atop a crispy risotto cake for apps. Entrees were equally delicious: rockfish with coconut rice and, surprisingly for a fish place, duck confit in a honey sauce with broccolini and potato cake. A nice French rose worked with everything. Just outstanding! Be sure to reserve -- this little place is rightfully popular.

isn't easy for an european to appreciate average american restaurants but this is not average! Fresh food, authentic flavours not shaded with creams or ketchups, accurate cooking (not too much, not raw), rich wine list. Simply 4 to 5 stars.

Our first impression of Passionfish was mixed - the location in downtown Pacific Grove is nice enough but from the exterior the restaurant looks a little dated. However, the interior is very nice and seating is in several smaller rooms, which keeps the noise level below the unpleasant din found in many newer restaurants. Service was understated but attentive, and the menu and food were outstanding. The crab cake appetizer was better than most, and the rockfish special and lamb tagine were both excellent. Good wine and beer choices at reasonable prices. Compared to the standard Monterey restaurant experience (overpriced and touristy), Passionfish was a great find.

Perhaps a lower rating is a result of higher expectations & great experience in the past. This time, flavors in both entrées were off. The lemon in the salmon was quite bitter and not at all appetizing. The salmon itself was a bit bland. Beef fillet had a notable sour taste which was much stronger than most grass fed beef we have had. The baked Gorgonzola salad was not only not properly described, it was significantly over dressed and dripping in the very sweet, curry dressing. Less would have been much better. The baked Gorgonzola is one small spanakopita on a large, substantial salad. But, a more accurate description would have been "salad garnished with small piece of filo wrapped gorgonzola"' not baked Gorgonzola Salad.

Went to PassionFish for a Friday getaway dinner in early October and the place was definitely hopping. Lots of people were waiting, but with our reservation we were seated to the minute at the time we'd booked. The noise level was pretty high where everyone was waiting near the door, but the space is divided into lots of smaller rooms where its' still lively, but we had no trouble hearing each other talk in normal tones of voice. The menu is well focused and the fish cooked to perfection. Sea scallops on artichoke risotto were melting-the-heart good, both light and savory. Wild King Salmon was rare (we were warned!) & awesome. Vegetarians will have few, but great, options here. Service also cheerful, attentive, and skilled.

Very good cuisine, the food is very well done, it is not always easy to find lobster tail and scallop cooked just right! The veggie mouses on the side were perfect and originally flavorful. It is too bad that we were only here for a weekend, other wise we would probably visit Passion Fish very regularly!!!

Convenient location in Pacific Grove. Very reasonable wine/beer prices. Delicious crab/avocado salad and warm brussel sprout salad. Need more simple salad choices. Table was split on entrees...lobster was very good but flavor of accompaniments didn't quite mesh. Might be more appreciated by foodies.

We visited Passionfish with a party of 5. It was our second time here and both of our experiences were really great. The food is all wonderful and the wine list is not only priced at retail, it is also a long one with some top level selections. Everyone in my party loved their meal. This is a great spot to eat with peace of mind as they source sustainably harvested fish. Cheers to that!

Our favorite place to dine on the Monterey Bay peninsula. Wonderful flavors, imaginative seasonal ingredients. Had the halibut and my husband had the wild salmon...highly recommend both. The starter trout ceviche was great. Some might find it too spicy but we loved it. Tasty honey-walnut bread pudding with ginger gelato for dessert. The wine list is superb and they keep the prices way below what other restaurants would charge.

We noted on our Open Table reservation that it was a special occasion and we were seated to a personalized printed menu for our anniversary and served candles with our dessert. It made us feel special and just the great food and wine would have done that anyway. It's been a few years since we were last here and if anything, it was better than the memory. They are noted for the great well priced wine list and the servers who know it well and can help. Ours recommended a Byron chardonnay that she knew was the last bottle they had and it was awesome. The menu changes with what is fresh, but everything is good. We started with baked gorgonzola/curried greens salad and fried oysters with kimchee salad. Both great! Rockfish and scallops!!
