Pascal's ManaleNon-touristy feelPascal's Manale was our choice when we tired of the tourist trap restaurants in the Quarter. Casual, but refined. Their specialty was the barbeque shrimp, but we skipped that and went for the specials. My beef filets came with two separate sauces - Hollandaise and Bearnaise, over crisp potato patties and grilled asparagus. Completed the meal with flan and coffee.
It's a short and convenient ride on the streetcar - get off at Napoleon and walk a couple of blocks - to the Garden District.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experianceFor a romantic night on the town, Pascal's Manale fit the bill! My wife and I were in town for a viewing of Wicked, and decided to make an evening up since we did not have the kids. I must say, having lived in New Orleans for 6 years and wanting for 15 years to finally try Pascal's Manale, it did not disappoint. The ambiance was perfect, the food was great and we got out of there with dinner and drinks for under $100.
My one and only small issue is that our waiter did not tell us all the specials for that evening(we overheard another waiter going over them at another table). They had just opened so perhaps not everyone was up to speed on the specials. Since I was there the last time, I noticed a change in the menu and does not have the selections that were available before. I had the 15 oz veal chop and found it had a lot of flavor, but was tough and chewy. Did not meet my expectations of Pascal's. My lady friend had a veal dish and the presentation was not up to par with Pascal's standards. My customer had Oyster Bienville and Barbecued shrimp. He thoroughly enjoyed his meal as did his wife.
Too noisy, but I find that with a lot of restaurants.

The sevice was flawless ,we were seated within 5 minutes of our arrival and the food was better than ever. Our server paid special attention to our group and was very attentive. The raw oysters were large and fresh. They came to the table within 10 min. of being ordered. Everything about the experiance was 1st class. Stop at the oyster bar and have some of the best fresh oysters I have ever had. Strike up a conversation with the bartender in the adjacent bar to learn some of the history. Next venture into the dining room and have the original barbecued shrimp. A bib is provided and you need it. The shrimp was great. Top it all off with some wonderful bread pudding.
