A word from Pascal's Manale
Founded in 1913, this family-run, Italian-Creole restaurant is located in uptown New Orleans. It is famous for creating barbecued shrimp.

This neighborhood restaurant is vintage New Orleans, from the service to the decor. The oyster bar always manned by a friendly shucker. The oysters are fresh, salty and delicious.

The old time oyster bar and cocktail bar offers raw oysters on the half shell and all types of cocktails. We offer fine seafood, Italian specialties and delicious steaks.

  • Good but not great....

We were traveling from out of town and this restaurant was recommended by a friend as a "must do". I viewed the menu prior to our arrival so there were no surprises on price or selection. In a nutshell, service was excellent, and the old school feel of the restaurant was a nice change to the hustle of the French quarter. However, the food was unfortunately just above average. The "famous" bbq shrimp was not a hit at our table. My husband, a seafood foodie, was none impressed. I had the Frutta del Mare, which was above average. Overall I would say, don't come here with high hopes for the best Italian and seafood fare. Like I said in the title, it was good, but not great.

Another warm and wonderful evening , Pascal's never disappoints . I always feel right at home , especially as the cool breezes blow into the city , fresh oysters and martinis began the evening followed by the lettuce wedge covered in blue cheese , bacon and thin slices of red onion . Never rushed , all in good time . The fresh drum smothered with barbecued shrimp was the perfect entree . Planning our next evening to enjoy more delectable dishes , prepare to relax and dine .

Oysters on the half shell to start is a must. Cold, fresh and flavorful. Insalata Mista salad is authentic Italian. Yummo!!! Great Veal Parmigiana, BBQ Shrimp, and Paneed Veal. Their wonderful bread pudding with brandy sauce is always a pleasure. Been here so many times and it's always consistently good. Luv it!!!

Simply put "superb". My expectations were far exceeded. My only complaint is that our waiter didn't know what the specials were and that he forgot our drink orders 2x and forgot to bring us butter for our bread. The food quality made up for the service mishaps. The hostess was friendly and very welcoming. I would highly recommend this establishment.

We hadn't been to New Orleans for about twenty years, so looked forward to visiting some old favorite restaurants. Most were still good, but Pascal's Manale's was excellent. The barbequed shrimp are still great, and the service was very friendly, but professional. A nice evening down memory lane.

We haven't been to Pascal's since 2 weeks before Katrina. We returned using OpenTable reservations. We were seated with no waiting. The oysters on half shell and grilled oysters were fabulous! The bar-b-qued shrimp, which 2 in our table had were plentiful, very large, but not as spicy as we remember, but since it has been 9 years, we may be off on that. I had the veal with bar-b-que shrimp on the side. The veal was very tender, cooked perfectly, and the shrimp came with sauce in a bowl. The wait staff is always ready to be there if needed, but not overbearing, and the pace of drinks, appetizers, and entrees were perfect. We do not like to be rushed. Will definitely return soon.

The evening was a pilgrimage for myself having enjoyed Pascal Manale's since I was a boy; going there with my parents, later with college friends, and then with my wife, plus to bring my son for his first NOLA experience, as well as his first oyster at Manale's! Louie, our waiter, was terrific, great stories, and so much of the experience. His stories about dating were great: quote" "I don't date anyone with a vowel". Please keep the institution going - good luck - we'll be back!

Our out of town business company wanted to dine at Pascal's. The two of us local folk were not impressed with the food. We should have tried the special barbeque shrimp, but it is very messy, because it has been very good in the past. We won't be returning because there are better restaurants in the city.

The last time I was there was around 30 yrs ago. The BBQ shrimp is as I remembered it. The ambiance was not. There was a musty like smell when we walked in. The service was actually too fast. The drinks came fast, but we'd barely had a sip when the salad was there. This was a Mon night-no need to rush. I'd still go back for the BBQ shrimp.

We were in town to visit our son, who is a student at Tulane. We had dined at Pascal's previously and had a very nice meal. This time the entire experience was marred by a very large party of about 5-6 tables in our dining room. These people acted as if they were in a private room. Before their food was served, many of them walked around from table to table yukking it up. Also, before their food arrived, they thought it was ok to have a person stand on a chair and ask for the entire room to be quiet while they made a speech to their group. Are you kidding me? Even after their food began to arrive the noise that they created made impossible for us to speak with one another. We hastily finished our meal and left.

Great restaurant! They have excellent raw oysters, the fish is prepared beautifully (with tasty sauces), the barbecued shrimp is incredible and unique to New Orleans, and the seafood dishes are prepared as well as anything we have had in Florence when we visited there. To put it simply: It is simply wonderful! The service has always been excellent--very helpful, courteous, and attentive. The owner is always there and provides the best customer service I have ever encountered. It's just a wonderful place to have dinner or lunch.

Out of the way restaurant that has 100 years of historical background and many pictures on the wall of famous people who ate there. That being said, only go here if you want their barbeque shrimp - which they put on everything. ..and BBQ means pepper, not red sauce. Wine list is OK - prices doubled and tripled from cost as typical. Nothing special about this place, including service.

Pascal's invented N.O. style BBQ shrimp (for the uninitiated: it is not cooked on a barbecue nor is it in a barbecue sauce). The food never disappoints and the service is always friendly and efficient. Noise level can vary depending on which room you’re seated in. It is off the beaten path in a quieter neighborhood Uptown, but very accessible from the Quarter or convention area.

Our first time in Pascal's Manale and I had the Fried Soft Crab with BBQ Shrimp, along with the house olive salad, and both were absolutely fantastic. Just a heads up. If you get there early and have a drink at the bar, they do not take credit cards. They take CC's in the restaurant, but not the bar. I thought that was a little odd.

A co-worker took me to Pascal's Manale over 25 years ago. Every time I visit New Orleans, this is a must stop. The barbecue shrimp is simply the best. I had their special, a jumbo soft-shelled crab with combo peeled barbecue shrimp. Crab was terrific but shrimp is not the same as the plump in-the-shell butter-drenched originals. I mooched a few from my wife! Too bad I don't live nearby. Then again, maybe not a bad thing because this is definitely not health food!

The menu is concise, but still offers great variety. Our party had steak, Italian, and seafood. The strip steak was thick and as good as any I have had at any of the top end steak houses. The combination remoulade was loaded with lump crabmeat and was outstanding. Everything we ordered was done perfectly and the service was excellent. Great place to show guests a variety of New Orleans food.

This was our first time dining and we intentionally made an early reservation to 'beat the crowd'. The staff were friendly and our waiter was great. I got the special of a small drum, topped with shrimp. My husband and I shared a few appetizers so before so I really was full before my entree was served. However, I was somewhat surprised that the $26 special didn't include a potato, salad, or vegetable side. I am sure I just didn't look closely enough at the menu. I would have been very disappointed if I wasn't already full from appetizers. So...I thought the food was excellent but perhaps a little pricey for my small portion considering it included no sides or salads. I will say that there wine list carried some great wines at a good price.

I was pretty underwhelmed by Pascal's. I heard great things about their BBQ shrimp. I found, however, that the shrimp, along with most of the other items we tried, lacked salt and pepper. I will admit, though, that Pascal's has the best red sauce I've ever eaten. I would return for traditional pasta dishes but not for any of their creole dishes.
