A word from Pascal's Manale
Founded in 1913, this family-run, Italian-Creole restaurant is located in uptown New Orleans. It is famous for creating barbecued shrimp.

This neighborhood restaurant is vintage New Orleans, from the service to the decor. The oyster bar always manned by a friendly shucker. The oysters are fresh, salty and delicious.

The old time oyster bar and cocktail bar offers raw oysters on the half shell and all types of cocktails. We offer fine seafood, Italian specialties and delicious steaks.

Diner Reviews
  • "First trip to Pascal's Manale was at the age of ten, when my Dad wanted to show me the difference between the tourist aspect of New Orleans and the business class of eating outside the Quarter. Have never made a trip to NOLA without a trip to PM and never been disappointed. Quality food and exceptional service make it every bit an experience as anywhere in the quarter without the noise!"

  • "If you want a taste of New Orleans that is not Bourbon Street, Pascal Manale's is for you. Classy dining room with linen tablecloths sets the scene for a memorable meal. You must try their famous shrimp. It is a bit messy to eat, but truly delicious."

  • "This is an old fashioned, in the best sense of the word, Italian Eatery. I went with a friend and we felt a little out of place being two young women but we had a ball and while we would not return again on another girls night out, we will absolutely bring our parents/families in when they visit us! Our only negative was upon arrival. The host was so rude to us, told us we were in the way but refused to ask WHY we were standing there, then finally said "MOVE, WHY are you THERE" I said well sir we have a reservation. He rolls his eyes, then asks my name, then OH aha we have a reservation... and the hostess who passed us no less than 8 times during that time rolls her eyes...and lo and behold we got seated 10 awkward minutes later."

  • "The shrimp and eggplant appetizer was terrific. My chicken entree was good, first time I've ever had chicken at Manale's. My wife's Shrimp Diavalo (spelling) was good, and the off-the-menu Garlic Bread was wonderful. Wines were good."

  • "Bartender [Fabian] was wonderful...great drinks and enjoyable conversation. Restaurant -- good decor and ambiance, great service. We ordered the barbequed shrimp, which were excellent, although rich due to the butter! Bread pudding was fabulous. Overall, still a gem with character. :-)"

  • "Starts with Thomas the greatest oyster shucker and ends with wonderful desserts. Pascal's is a throwback to my Northeast childhood in that you could transplant this restaurants feel to New York/New Jersey/Boston, etc. Difference being the New Orleans take on Italian dishes. Get off the tourist places and try Pascal's"

  • "Restaurant makes money simply because of the name and history. Dining experience was awful - boring, no ambience, no music. The food was terrible.. Especially given the price of the meals. I will never go back again. NOLA is full of amazing restaurants. This isnt one of them, unfortunately."

  • "The bar-b-qued shrimp were excellent but a little overpriced. Pascal's Manale is a must do for lunch on your visits to New Orlean's. Been here for my first meal every time I've been here."

  • "While no one is better than Tom "Uptown" Stewart at shucking the oysters, PM is a lot more than just a place to go for their many versions of oysters. The stuffed shrimp, eggplant, BBQ shrimp -- which they will gladly peel for you if you ask, and scallops and crabmeat are all fabulous. This is a real gem that is often missed because it's not in the FQ."

  • "This is a classic New Orleans Resturant that has a lot of nostalgia. You can almost feel the ghosts of the past are dining with you. Everyone at our table enjoyed their meals. The service was great. Reservations were honored on time. Just a delightful evening with good food, good service, good wine and good friends!!"

  • "We came here on the recommendation of an old friend who still recalled the BBQ shrimp years and years later. After scouring online reviews of this place, we decided the BBQ shrimp were a definite "must order" as well as the oysters. Both the raw oysters and the shrimp were FANTASTIC. Really a treat! Now, my husband ordered the "new orleans" fish dish with artichokes, etc. He seemed less enthusiastic about his meal and after I tasted it I understood why. While the BBQ shrimp were seasoned perfectly, his fish dish had virtually no flavor at all. We put lemon and salt all over it to try to perk up the flavor, but he ended up picking through it all night. I guess the bottom line is, when a restaurant is known for something, order that!"

  • "The food was good, and the oysters were the best I have ever had. Make reservations and have the BBQ shrimp for appetizer. Service was also excellent."

  • "Okay, so maybe not the greatest location, or fanciest restaurant in town, but it makes up for it by serving excellent and dependably good food! This is a place to take your favorite foodies that love seafood and aren't afraid to eat with their fingers! If you absolutely love oysters...this place needs to be on your bucket list!"

  • "I have been coming here for years. Always great food. The BBQ shrimp are the best and must be tried. Get here early to enjoy freshly shucked oysters before dining."

  • "Great food took family including my grandson (9) and granddaughter(5) and they ate more than the adults. Wait staff was excellent but head waiter was a little overboard with his suggestions not wanting to listen to what we wanted. Food was terrific and I will go back!"

  • "Having dined with Pascals' on many occasions, I anticipated an outstanding evening. I overlooked a slightly grumpy maitre'd because anyone can have an off-evening. I was disappointed when we seated in the dining room with a group of 25 celebrating oil company workers deep in their cups. Our table conversation was limited by their celebration. More disappointing because there was a nearly empty room next door. Our waiter took our orders and disappeared in the next room leaving us to find the bus-man to ask for additional necessaries. The etouffee was outstanding but the destination dish of BBQ Shrimp was clearly overcooked. After waiting 15 minutes for a salad and 21 minutes for a check, we declined dessert. Will be hard to return."

  • "The raw oysters were the best I've had in a long time: salty, large and fresh. Very reasonably priced, as well. Crab bisque: divine. However, the building has a mildewy smell that detracts from the experience. There is definitely a moisture intrusion problem somewhere in that building. My Capresi salad was helpful, as the aroma from the basil helped to cover the odor of the building. If they could fix the mildewy smell, I would highly recommend the place. "

  • "Too bright, half empty on Saturday night , surly waiter, no refill of water without begging, customers all tourists in shorts, etc. The veal Parmesan was excellent, as was the turtle soup... But I would not recommend Pascale's as there are many better old institutions in New Orleans."

  • "We came here with out of town friends and were chatting and our waiter tried to rush us to order, but when we did he was always really slow bringing drinks, or appetizers etc. We made the best of it, but he was not very good. Food was delicious. "

  • "Had an outstanding meal from top to bottom! Enjoyed large and salty raw oysters freshly opened at the bar before our dinner. The turtle soup was an excellent appetizer and we followed that with their famous bbq shrimp which are fabulous. Finished the meal with a wonderful bread pudding. The wait staff was attentive and wonderful to talk with. Hard to find a better meal even in New Orleans. An attendant watching over the parking lot was a very nice touch as well."

  • "Italian food in New Orleans is not like Italian food in New York. This restaurant is known for there BBQ shrimp. I don't recall seeing BBQ shrimp on an Italian menu before. My daughter loved them. They are jumbo (huge) shrimp in a black pepper sauce. Unfortunately each shrimp needed to be peeled so my husband was put to work. They said they were delicious. "

  • "The waiter was very knowledgable of the menu items and description of the dishes, even knowing how they were made. Out service was perfect down to the bus boy. They kept our water and tea glasses full at all times and cleared dishes as needed. No detail was spared. Our food was fantastic."

We purchased a bottle of champagne and brought two bottles of wine with us (a red and a white). Everything was spot on and we had a wonderful time."
