  • "Pascalou had some great food options for a Sunday brunch. The service was fine, but the real issue came when I tried to use a restaurant.com coupon. I noted in my opentable reservation ahead of time that I would be using it, but then received an odd voicemail telling me that I could not combine it with the Prix Fixe Brunch options, since it was a "promotion" and the coupon said that it cannot be combined with a promotion. In my mind, Prix Fixe is not a promotion and I thought it was a little shady of them to try and pass it off as one. The table next to us encountered the same issues with coupon + promotion and eventually the mgmt agreed to apply it, but it will really make me think twice about eating there again. A little awkward to argue."

  • "I had hoped to discover a " neighborhood gem", but instead just found a place to eat. Nothing special, although not terrible. Our dinners were fair - I ordered veal "Milanese" which I was surprised to see came as a scaloppine cut instead of one big flattened chop. The sauce was tasty but the meat was was about 50% fat. My husband said his steak seemed like an inferior cut as well. On the positive side, the service was good and very quick."

And the prices are most reasonable. This is clearly a neighborhood place with a strong local following. No wonder! Almost made us wish we lived closer to Carnegie Hill. Highly recommended!"

He seams to be discriminating Asian, especially when he chat with every table except us. Food was okay, the duck the only dish that we think is good and very true french dish."

  • "Pascalou is our go-to lunch destination whenever we visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This is one of the few places within walking distance of the museum where you can have a reasonably priced three course lunch. The soups are excellent and change with the seasons. There's a choice of entrees and a couple of dessert choices. The ground floor room is small and tables are close so it tends to be noisy. There is another dining room on the second floor. Service is friendly and it is a popular place so reservations are recommended."

  • "Pascalou is definitely a neighborhood gem, but its shine goes far beyond the 'hood. The food is prepared to a quality level that far surpasses the typical eatery. The short ribs are clearly slow-cooked and the fish is fresh and paired with fresh, not frozen vegetables. Add to this their great wine selection and you have a real jewel."

  • "Our host, Martin, set the tone from the moment we walked in 32 minutes early. We waited patiently for guests to leave their (our table) and settled in for the night. Every item we ate (I had the skate, my husband had the veal sweetbreads) was done perfectly. Our salads and desserts were also heavenly. The restaurant is a short walk from the Met, and will be our go-to place anytime we are on the upper east side. I had been there a number of times with friends and colleagues, but the company of my husband really made it feel like a romantic Parisian restaurant. Merci, Martin!"

  • "I have dined at Pascalou many times. It is uneven. It is a tiny bistro, reasonably priced and appealing in its traditional look. It sometimes achieves wonderful things. When the service and food are at their best, it warrants a near rave; at the bottom a rant. On my last visit, I'm sad to suggest an "eh". (That is not the Canadian interrogatory "eh"; that is the New York declining "eh".) Nonetheless, I will be back again hoping for better."

  • "Pescalou had been recommended to me a while ago. I was very anxious to try it. The restuarant was very packed downstairs so we were seated upstairs which was not a problem except for the fact that it was very warm. Even by the time we finished dinner it was still warm. Space was very tight. The waiter seemed bored and was not particularly friendly. Food was very average and was not what I would have expected for a French Bistro. I had ordered the Caesar salad which had so little dressing on it, that I don't know why they bothered and I usually like very little dressing. The bar-b-queed short ribs were just OK. One of my guests had the chicken and he was not impressed either. Overall, neither my guests or I were "wowed" with this restaurant."
