A word from Pascal and Sabine
Pascal & Sabine is a fresh take on the European Brasserie, where good, simple food, strong drink, and those passing through come together to create a rich, sensory experience of precocious exuberance. Taking cues from Albert Lamorisse's signature work, The Red Balloon, Pascal & Sabine embraces the flight of fancy and ephemeral nature of an inflated balloon, adding its own unique touch of playfulness within its doors. Featuring cave-like banquettes and the highly regarded artwork of Paolo Ventura, Pascal & Sabine is a white string to hold onto, pulling you above the monotony of the world.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience! The service was excellent - the food was delicious and we can't wait to go back!"

  • "We found the restaurant to be excellent in all aspects and would certainly recommend it to anyone. We have already told friends that we enjoyed the food and ambience. The menu is sophisticated and probably not for children."

  • "Very pretty interior, not expected as the outside is just a "plain" house. The food was very good as was the service, very clean also."

  • "went here on sunday 7/13/14 after colleagues of mine recommended P&S highly. was not disappointed from the moment we sat down. a great atmosphere inside with a large bar and and nice waiting area. the menu was a perfect mix of classic french cuisine with an american twist. we started with a bottle of the malbec from an extensive wine selection and the warm goat cheese tart for an appetizer. both were outstanding. my girlfriend got the duck duo (seared duck breast and a confit leg). it was fantastic, extremely tender and flavorful. i got the steak au poivre. perfect medium rare steak and a nice sauce. dessert was outstanding as well, a perfect creme brulee and a wonderful chocolate dessert that our server recommended. 5 stars"

  • "We loved it! My husband and I were looking for a place to have a long, lazy, delicious brunch before our first baby arrives in September. We were also drawn to the Franch cuisine to relive a recent trip to Paris...what can i say, we were feeling nostalgic. Pascal and Sabine was perfect! The food was fanatastic, great, interesting choices; really interesting cocktail list as well, which my husband enjoyed. The bartender even mixed up a non-alcoholic, fruity, bubbly drink for me. The ambiance was romantic, cool and definitely different. It was just what we were looking for. We liked it so much, we now want to try to go back for dinner one night before the baby gets here!!"

  • "Amazing! Special attention to details & excellence! Loved the fact that the staff gave opinions on drink & food choices."

  • "Food and service were both good, but could be better. The restaurant has a serious air about it. They need to lighten up. They will not do substitutions."

  • "A restaurant of this caliber should have waiters who introduce themselves. I don't like the first thing out of my waiter's mouth being, "would you like sparkling or tap water?" First state your name, or say good evening, then you can ask about water. This is my third time here, and the first time our waiter was excellent. Very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. This last time, not so much with the waiter we got. Pleasant enough, but seemed to be in a rush for no reason."

  • "Obviously like it! Service slightly unpolished this time but waiter was astute enough to notice that I didn't like my entree (poultry Sunday special was fried chicken and the serving was two drumsticks and a thigh- odd). I didn't really complain just mentioned that my entree was odd and he ran with it and produced a dessert gratis."

  • "This is the second time we had dinner at Pascal and Sabine. The decor and atmosphere is Manhattan in Asbury Park. The food is excellent and the service is top notch, though considering the restaurant is down the shore the mussels were small. It is pricey and the noise is beyond noisy and obnoxious! We ate at 10:00 and that may have been the problem because the crowd was feeling their drinks...It was clear that other people were annoyed at the yelling and screaming and wait staff were told many times that the noise level was unacceptable. It worked a bit but it was still very noisy. I would think twice about eating there late."

  • "A very nice place. The service is excellent. They have a side bar by the windows where you can drink and eat or have a drink with a date. They have a full long bar as well. Note, these are not bars with TVs for sporting events. This is an intimate social place for couples or small groups. Try the cheese platter appetizers. Also...the bathrooms were both very clean...well maintained and designed with style, which for us is a benchmark for an establishment. The pricing for the food is well on point and justified without being "too much" for what you have ordered and the menu provides a good range of price points. The valet parking is right next door and the area is good, though Asbury Park has come a long way...it is still a city."

  • "I had an out of town guest at my house for the fourth of July weekend and we had dinner at the restaurant last Wednesday. My friend is born and raised in NYC and is a huge FOODIE! Dines out almost every night. She and I both loved our dinners."

  • "French done right. Classy, not fussy. The food is excellent, the staff is knowledgeable and friendly and the setting is beautiful. My only hesitation is posting a great review is that everyone will go and I won't be able to get in. Do yourself a favor and go."

  • "Great food (awesome escargot, mussels, fish and specials). Excellent service! Wonderful ambiance! And free parking! What more can you ask for??!!"

  • "Over the past few years we have tried several of the new restaurants in Asbury park as the town restores itself To an attractive destination. We have had many great meals, but Pascal and Sabine is our favorite so far. The food was excellent, the service very Fine ---- a the only thing that we thought could possibly be better was the decor--- it's too dark and grey."

  • "We have dined at Pascal and Sabine a few times and have always had a pleasant dining experience. I am usually a fish or chicken person but this time I wanted to try something different. I had the Pork Chop and it was the most amazing Pork Chop I have ever had."

  • "We had reservations for 8:30 pm last Friday. We arrived at 8:25 pm and they told us that the table will be ready soon. Finally got seated at 8:40 pm. We ordered appetizers and that arrived within 5 minutes of ordering. The problem started with the entrees. In fact, we didn't get to see our entrees at all because we just had to leave at 10 pm after waiting over an hour. Our waiter only talked to us twice the entire time. To take our order and to apologize for the delay. Btw, the appetizers were nothing to write home about. I honestly do not know how this place was rated as one of America's best little known neighborhood gem. Place was extremely loud and noisy. We had to scream at each other to talk the entire time."

  • "Atmosphere was good. Waitstaff very knowledgable, friendly and attentive. Excellent wines by the glass. My only negative would be the choice of appetizers. The choices were not that great. Everyone at my table had a hard time. Nothing really appealed to us. Only one salad on the menu and it was just a plain oak leaf lettuce with dressing. Coq au van was very tasty."

  • "A very nicely done bistro where (almost) everything worked perfectly."

  • "The Hostess & Busboy was Very Pleasant & Accommodating! I asked our Waiter about the Pork Chop Flavor, he stated it was sweeter, I prefer a savory dish, I asked if the Chef could make a different preparation, he quickly stated, "He won't, I did order the Pork Chop & is was a 'slight sweetness' My brother asked if he could have no starch on his fish, he stated "They will take it off, But will NOT substitute", The waiter seemed very disinterested in pleasing the Customer,he was very abrupt in stating "NO",. I am not sure if the waiter was just being lazy in asking the Kitchen (Chef) to accommodate the customer, or if this is the Chef's Direction. In Today's world, with many different Dietary Needs and Diet Conscience Diners, not accommodating"

  • "Where to start? The ambience is comfortable and charming - reminiscent of a French brasserie. Our server was attentive and well-informed. Now for the FOOD. French onion soup that is positively addictive, a wonderful roasted beet salad ( I wished for a Larger portion), crepinette topped with foie gras ( a well-heeled 'meatloaf' and sooo delicious), prime pork chop with calvados poached apples - perfectly cooked and succulent, chocolate mousse and beignets both amazing, wines by the glass were generous and excellent. Celebrating our 51st wedding anniversary here was a great idea! Can't wait to return to this terrific restaurant."

  • "Have been here for dinner a number of times. Servers & waitstaff are very well- trained & responsive, as well as warm and well- informed about food items. Service is top- drawer. Have made a point of eating my way thru the menu and found entrees and sides to be stellar. Drinks are creative without bring fussy, Manhattan is the bomb! Gin based drinks are wonderful for summer. Only (small) complaint is the tart-based desserts are heavy and not the light pastries to be expected. Other desserts are up to the same great quality as the entrees and sides. Also, check out the escargot to start, or the pâtés....a great kick-off to a fabulous meal."

  • "Fun Place. Food & Service were both GREAT. Loved the Onion Soup. Tried 2 other appetizers, which were fair at best. The Short Rib Special was AWESOME. Mussels were also very good. Liked the Scollops too. Will be back SOON!!"

  • "We were disappointed. Bad bread. I expected more from a French bistro. Mains were uneven. Steak was overdone, yucky sweet sauce on the pork chop, good duck duo. We didn't stay for dessert since we weren't happy with dinner. Good wine list."

  • "Upon arriving, we were told there were events that eve. We're seated and decided to leave the noise level was horrendous."

  • "French and red. The balloon out front beckons one in (especially if you have seen the film) and the atmosphere is French, red lamps on the bar and art work. Loved the escargot, the special , pork belly over cubed potatoes topped with poquio peppers.. The shrimp cocktail was ample and the wines , terrific. We ordered the scallops over the corn and it was superb, the salmon, delicious and the Wed special, seafood pasta - yummy. Service was great and felt the timing was great. Worth the visist for sure."

  • "Good menu and food. A tad noisy, but we'll come back."

  • "Nice setting with atmosphere. Service was slow because they are not well staffed for brunch but it wasn't awful. They were apologetic and courteous. Cappuccino was great, onion soup good but the Nicoise was disappointing. A signature dish for French restaurants it did not please. And we also had an omelette that arrived with goat cheese sans bacon at our request, but they would not add any substitute so it was bland. French bread was a bit greasy. Overall it was a fair-good experience for brunch but the food could be tweaked for sure. I might return for dinner just to see if it gets better there."

  • "dinner was fine, but overflow in bar was actually all over my table. Granted sitting near bar will be noisier but those behind seats in bar were more than in my face!"

  • "Authentic french but something for everybody. Wife had salmon - fresh, cooked perfectly, delicious. She had french onion soup appetizer with swiss cheese broiled on top. She loved it. The Coq a Vin and beets with goat cheese salad were classic and great. Wine list very impressive with fair value and great choices not found everywhere. Desserts, cheeses, and charcuterie all superb. They change up menu a lot which means it never gets tired. Staff is welcoming and friendly, well informed about the menu selection, and it's clear that they're all focused on quality and service."

  • "We choose to spend our anniversary at this new downtown Asbury Park hot spot and the food and staff were superb and were very accommodating for our 1 y/o daughter. Love he bread and the open bread oven in the rear! We had such a great experience that we were back for brunch the next day."

  • "My wife and I recently dined. Very much enjoyed the Steak Au Poivre (good cut) and French Onion Soup. My wife had a few appetizers and a side which were all excellent. Would definitely recommend for someone looking for a french restaurant in the area."

  • "The food and service were outstanding, but we were disappointed, as the website had the wrong menu online and we thought we were going for brunch. We also did't understand why the chef wouldn't put cheese on a sandwich my daughter ordered. The cheese was on the menu so it was available, but we were told no."

  • "Fantastic signature cocktails. Excellent French bistro food. Our party of six was delighted with our orders. The service was excellent - attentive but not overwhelming. Can't wait to return and try something new!"

  • "Pascal & Sabine has become our favorite spot for an unbelievably unique menu, outstanding service, and attention to detail like no other restaurant I've been to!"

  • "What a great find!! Charcuterie varied- 1 cheese and 1 meat plate MORE than enough for four of us, the cheeses lovely (more honey cheerfully supplied), the chicken liver mousse and homemade pate sublime, the pickled mustard seeds a fun accompaniment. Escargot wonderful, not overly garlicky. Lobster and filet special worth every penny--both tender and flavorful. Even the burger was great! Even though we were stuffed we had the divine milk chocolate pots du creme with caramel and sea salt-bliss!! Excellent waitstaff and bartender too!"

  • "I've been wanting to try Pascal & Sabine since they opened. We are local to the area but waiting for the right time to stop in. The experience was nothing short of amazing! We were there for 4 hoes and Moyer every last morsel and sip we could. For appetizer we would recommend the pâté and escargot! For entree the pork chop was perfectly cooked and the flavor was to die for! We learned that it is injected with fat which makes it so moist and juicy! The duck was also perfectly cooked! It came with a leg and breast. For dessert the pot de creme was amazing! Sweet with a perfect tpuch of sea salt and caramel. The creme brûlée was delicious as well and a must try is the cheesecake with a port wine! We'll definitely be going back!"
