A word from Parts & Labor
Some of our seating is un-reserved, so if you can't make a reservation, please just walk on in!

Parts & Labor, from the team behind Woodberry Kitchen, located in Remington in an old automotive garage, continues the relationship with Chesapeake Bay growers focusing on pastured meats cooked in an open hearth. We pour 24 beers on tap with a focus on supporting small farm breweries in Maryland. Along Howard Street in this space we have a full retail butcher shop selling fresh cuts, sausages, cured meats, and Woodberry Pantry preserves, and staffed with a full butcher team to help make selections.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "What a fun night--great food, great service. Definitely going back soon."

  • "Really enjoyed it - meat based menu, so not good for vegetarians!"
    Dined on 7/20/2014
  • "Meat, meat and more meat. Easy to share a number of dishes and be satisfied and tickled too."

  • "This is a good looking, vibrant place that adds new energy to B'more. The menu is interesting and the items we selected were all delicious. Will definitely return."

  • "The millennial generation will love this new restaurant. Interesting space – seating at the communal tables with high stools with no backs does not look very comfortable - we sat at one of the few tables along the wall. All hard surfaces, so that there is nothing to absorb the sound. This is a beef lover’s paradise!"

  • "Looks like this one hit it out of the park! Great food - tried quite a few new things and the beer selection is great too - try the 5 oz in case you want to try another one. Lots of milennials and boomers in attendance. Most folks we talked to were new to the place and plan to return."

  • "Service here is excellent, both times I've visited I've been charmed by the waitstaff. Food is good, but some of it is downright expensive. If you're intelligent in your choices you don't need to spend an arm and a leg, but like all Spike establishments, it's a bit hit and miss when figuring out what is good value for money when you order. Drinks are tasty, same sort of fare as WK. The one real gripe I have - it's SO NOISY, and if you are placed at one of the high tables it is virtually impossible to hear your companion across from you unless he or she yells. If you can, request a table or be stuck shouting at one another. We did makes friends with our tablemates, but a little more space and ability to hear would have been welcomed."

  • "Vegetarians and fish lovers will have a hard time. I was very happy as were others in my group. Noise made talk difficult. I personally HATE communal tables which rule here. Hot new spot so will be interesting to see how it evolves. Parking an issue."

  • "Parts & Labor is an atypical restaurant and, as (almost) always, Spike hits it out of the park in food and concept. Although an enthusiastic carnivore, my modern, more balanced eating habits don't allow for a lot of red meat, so this was a real treat. Their encouragement of sharing (i.e., tasting different dishes) is great and the food was terrific. The only downside was the selection of featured red "draft" wines which, after sampling a few, we found too lightweight for the rich meat. This "problem" was solved with a very nice bottle of a syrah blend. Looking forward to my next visit!"

  • "Good: Food, beer and friendly service. So-so: most seating is at communal tables and seats are a bit uncomfortable for prolonged stay. Bad: Being out of items with a limited menu, slowness of food delivery."

  • "Great food, great ambience and helpful staff. When making reservations, request a table away from the fire grill."

  • "The food was awesome. Got the ham hock, it was huge and made the best split pea soup the next day."
    Dined on 7/5/2014
  • "The food was fantastic. It's our new favorite place. The service was quick and our waitress was knowledgable about the menu."

  • "Excellent night! Excellent food! And the service was superb. Plain and simple."

  • "very nice for those with expanded taste, or love of meat."

  • "This was a cute new place to try in a not so good neighborhood. The Smokey smell coming from the building definitely got your taste buds in the mood for the wide variety of meats on the menu which they did have. the steak was cooked to our liking and the side of beans was very good. the sticky pork was sticky but a bit dry and could have been more moist. The service was fair, but it felt like everyone knew each other and we definitely felt like outsiders right away. as the place because more crowded we felt even more like outcasts, which definitely made our meal not as enjoyable! so if your hipster i am sure this place is for you."

  • "A vibrant and unique destination. Vegetarians would not find a great deal from which to choose, but could enjoy salads and vegetable sides. The transformation of this formerly automotive venue is creative in the extreme."
    Dined on 7/3/2014
  • "Too loud. Service was exemplary but food was not. The steaks had a "gamey" taste. The cookies were not made with butter (as you expect cookies to be) they had an oily taste. The creamed ice cream (sans the basil) was very good. Vegetable servings are large but meat servings are small to moderate. Seating is cramped and mostly stools and communal tables. We waited 20 minutes to be seated as there were no tables available. Not a place for those over 50."

  • "Great new place for S Gerde. We were seated close to the wood fired open kitchen and it was warm. No clue how cooks survive the heat (owner was on the line). Loved the steak and took a chance on the blood sausage (a little loose for my taste, but it is supposed to be spread on toast). Great salad and wok cooked peas were the best"

  • "I had high expectations for P & L. We had the spicy pimento cheese snack app @ the bar, which was great. The (fall of the bone) ribs were so tough and charred, I could barely saw them off the bone with my knife. The last rib was blackened crumble. The grilled cabbage was good, but was doused with too much fish pepper which made it way too spicy. I did not care for the cured pork & beans; they were way too sweet. The bread was okay. Waiter was nice but fairly inattentive...did not clean the table after dinner or offer us new napkins before dessert after a very messy meal. (and the napkins are tiny) The chocolate cake for dessert was very good; though it was not presented to us as an option; we just happened to notice it on another table."

  • "Who would have thought, one of the best salads I've ever had would have been at a butcher shop restaurant. (The meat was outstanding too!)"
    Dined on 6/29/2014
  • "Excellent food. Some unusual choices to get the meat lovers happy but maybe you could squeeze in a vegetarian dish for the lone person in the party. It was very noisy even in the booth. Not good for people with hearing challenges."
    Dined on 6/29/2014
  • "It is loud and my folks can't hear well in loud places. I requested a booth, which is more protected. The staff accomodated with such ease and the service was perfect."

  • "We came here on the recommendation of a friend, and were not disapointed. Friendly service & amazing food in a casual atmosphere. Pig ears, Korean Short Ribs, Blood Sausage, Kale Salad, Chocolate Cake...all delicious!!! Cannot wait to go back!"

  • "Parts & Labor makes no bones about what its specialty is: meat. With some unusual cuts and house-made sausages, the menu is mostly about local ingredients (except for the wine). The beer menu is large, given the local emphasis. The servers were very knowledgeable and helpful, although a little slow in terms of taking orders and following up with the check. The communal dining was fun, if a little awkward when the waiter assumed that the fellow sitting across from me (a total stranger) and I were together. The cement floors plus a high ceiling means that sound echoes, so if you want to hear your company, I'd recommend asking for a booth. The pork sandwich was excellent. Would go back to try more on the menu."

  • "This place is an interesting loft looking restaurant in a mixed restaurant and neighborhood environment like many places in Baltimore. We went to this one after seeing Parts and Labor win the Best Burger in Toronto contest on one of the cooking review shows. We know the server from a previous dining experience and as always, he was quick with a recommendation and overview of the menu. Will try to catch a show the next time as this establishment is next to a theater."

  • "Every plate was beautifully prepared. Not much offerings for a vegetarian, but they should know that in advance and be prepared. Excellent service."

  • "Got a recommendation from someone at Charm City Run. The salads were delicious -- very fresh and perfectly dressed. But oh my...the steaks! The plate steak was perfectly cooked and the flavor was incredibly intense. The asparagus was grilled and also dressed perfectly. This is a not-to-be-missed restaurant for carnivores."

  • "The entire staff here is so knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely friendly. Menu is solid, something for everyone. The steaks are tempting-I had the flat iron, which was tasty but not amazing, but next time will try one of the delicious looking sandwiches. Sides are nicely done, very simple, dined with a large group so we tried one of each. Clean look to the space. Nice bar. Best part was dessert. We tried the chocolate lard cake, blondie, and strawberry rhubarb tart, which were all excellent. I prefer Woodberry Kitchen, but will definitely return to Parts and Labor, at least for dessert!"

  • "We loved our meal, the place looks very sharp, and the service was great, but the noise level is pretty off the charts."

  • "First time at Parts and Labor. The dinning room was a little noisy for my taste but I will definitely go back!"

  • "Delicious food and knowledgable staff made it easy to have a lovely meal! Lovely flavors! The salads were yummy, sweet lettuce! The horseradish beets, so good. The burger was outrageously delish! I definitely recommend grabbing a booth... The are low with high walls. They cut you a bit from the view of the restaurant but they cut the noise a bit."
    Dined on 6/18/2014
  • "Very expensive place, small plates, though the meat cuts were very good. Service was excellent. Beer selection was unique, microbrews, crafts, very good I thought. Their emphasis on all things local was not lost all the way down to the rhubarb pie and lard peanut butter cheesecake - great way to end the meal."

  • "Food fine but over salted. Service was spotty - server was a bit of a space cadet, he screwed up another party's order at our table, our order was slow in coming, he forgot to bring our desert, then he tried to bring us the wrong desert. While waiting for the right one another server tried to redeliver the same wrong desert - so much for legendary service..."

  • "Made a reservation for my 28th Anniversary and my wife and I had a great time. The staff wished us a happy anniversary and watched over us in a good way to make sure anything we needed was taken care of. I look forward to coming back and will bring a group of my friends with me."

  • "We had 8:30 reservations...we were seated at 9:15 Very Loud.............hard to hold a conversation Ordered sandwiches..............more bread than pork or beef Ordered dessert...........NO COFFEE"
    Dined on 6/14/2014
  • "Consider eating here only if you are prepared to eat half a cow (or pig) in various shapes or forms. It is exactly as advertised, meat, meat and only meat. The vegetable sides are skimpy and quite tasteless, the cheese plates uninspiring. Our burger, priced as a prime cut, did not compare with other local eateries. The noise level is such that is difficult to have a conversation. Luckily we didn't end up perched on the ubiquitous bar stools - our side table was comfortable and mitigated the otherwise disappointing evening."

  • "I honestly can say that Parts and Labor's 42 day old aged filet is by far one of the best steaks I have had. Definitely better than any I have ever had at The Capital Grille. I can say I am a steak snob in a way and the filet was so tender and seasoned perfectly. I paired it with the sweet potatos and the Appollo beer. AMAZING! I was actually sad when I finished the last bite. Definitely recommend checking out this cool new place."

  • "This was my second visit to P&L and I was just as happy as the first visit (which was less than 3 weeks ago!). Will definitely make this one of my frequent stops. From the drinks to the deserts, you will not be disappointed."
