Diner Reviews
  • "Have been to the Parkway Grill many many times...on this occasion the noise level was loud and noisy, the Catfish my guest ordered was Excellent which we've had many times....the Eggs Benedict were a disappointment...looking back I should have sent them back to the kitchen. The egg yolks were broken, there was very little hollandaise sauce and the the serving of roasted potatoes was very small for an 18.00 plate of food. The Canadian bacon was sliced so thin it was almost non-existent. I think someone needs to research your serving of Eggs Benedict. I doubt it would be served to any executive of Smith Bros. "

  • "My friend arrived somewhat harried, having gotten our meeting time confused. The helpful staff brought him coffee and the usual bread basket, complete with butter and white crystals in two small white tubs. Much to the amusement of the restaurant staff, my friend proceeded to put two teaspoons of the white crystals into his coffee and take a big gulp before anyone could warn him. Needless to say, coffee should be consumed without salt, which in this case was meant for the bread. The now saline coffee was quickly replaced and an excellent lunch followed. The lamb pasta was delicious, the Maytag blue cheese enhanced the salad and the service was excellent."

  • "The sea bass special was excellent. We had to ask 3 times for bread. One setting was missing a knife. The bib lettuce burrata salad was lacking in flavor and salad dressing. Dull and goopy cheese. The waiter served coffee by putting the pot past the face of one of the diners instead of going around her; they also did the same with the food. The chief waiter and the other one didn't seem to be communicating with each other so the chief one was startled to find we had already ordered dessert. Creme brulee dessert excellent as was coffee and champagne cocktail. "

  • "We have been going to Parkway Grill for 20-years and dinning monthly. Our tab have been increasing and now is $100 for 2 people. We like the restaurant, but it is not worth $100. We will be trying other restaurants. Even Arroyo Chop House, which is next door, is more reasonably priced and they often comp the wine corkage."

  • "The Parkway Grill is the only restaurant in Southern California with consistently wonderful food and service. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. The waiters are knowledgeable, and attentive yet not intrusive. We brought friends who had never been there and they were very impressed. The Cambozola Pear flatbread, is so good, it could make a satisfying meal in itself. We hesitated to order salads, but they were so delicious, we ate every bit. My Chilean sea bass was excellent and the sauce underneath was a perfect match. The steaks were perfectly cooked and our guests were delighted. The chocolate cake and bread pudding were accompanied by many oohs and aahs. The Parkway Grill knows exactly how to make every dinner a special occasion."

  • "The Parkway Grill is always an excellent restaurant with delicious food and impecable servce. My last latest visit was on a business meeting with a very important client. My client was very impressed!"

  • "Overall a nice experience. Each dish was good but not great- could use some minor recipe tweaking. Signature soup needed a few spices - coriander, cumin, perhaps some clove. Crab cakes needed more crab and less filler and mayo. Salads were very good, and the scallop main course was top dish of the night. The steak was also beautifully prepared."

  • "I have dined at the Parkway quite often and find it the perfect place to take my clients out for dinner. The atmosphere is perfect. The food and service can't be beat. Mark the bar tender is one of the best in town. A great experience every time."

  • "This used to be a very good dining experience. The food is simlar to the past unfortunately the service and pricing has changed. The pricing for the same unimanative menu has headed North, beyond reason. They must be reading their old clippings and figure they can charge a lot more based on their previous laurels. The service, once attentive and compliant now surly and begnigly neglectful . Sorry guys, I won't be back, you are not that unique anymore. I can't afford your prices."

  • "We celebrated a birthday and I requested for a quiet area. They sat us in the atrium which was perfect for our party of four. Upon sitting down, the manager had a nice birthday card waiting for us on the table. Our server was excellent and took care of every need. The menu had a nice selection and the food presentation was well done. Each meal came well prepared and tasted excellent. It was a perfect evening for my family and upon leaving, our server gave my daughter some orchids. Recommend highly."

  • "Great food, service and ambiance but the wine selections by the glass are poor. A restaurant this upscale really should only be offering non-domestic wines."

  • "This is our second visit to Parkway Grill and it is a truly lovely dining experience. Both occasions were birthdays and the restaurant provides very special touches for the birthday person so be sure and let them know in advance. The food is excellent and service is impeccable. It is pricey but it's worth it. The seared scallop salad is so delicious. Steaks and duck breast cooked to perfection. And the whole catfish is a unique experience ... succulent and amazing to see. Thanks, Parkway. We'll be back."

  • "I had an important business lunch and the service was slow and terrible. I ordered a black bean soup as an appetizer, which was okay. My lunch was a scallop salad with two small scallops. Terrible."

  • "One of the top restaurants in town. Good food, but pricy. Nice ambience. A gathering place for the elite of Pasadena. On the night I went, the restaurant was hosting a large party and the valet company did not do a good job of preparing for the rush of cars. It created a traffic backup on Arroyo that could have easily resulted in an accident during rush hour traffic."

  • "Parkway Grill has been a top choice in Pasadena since it opened in 1984. The menu is varied and interesting. The setting is very comfortable. Although it wasn't crowded at lunch, generally the restaurant is relatively quiet. An excellent choice and wonderful in the evenings too."
    Dined on 2/17/2014
  • "The setting is a lttle more laid back than the Arroyo Chop House (next door) but has high standards as well. A vaulted wood ceiling and lighting make for an ambience fit for a special night out or a business gathering. After visiting twice, my take on the dishes are that they are perfectly prepared and of the highest quality but do not expect anything very unique or on the edge if you are a foodie. The crowd seems to change as the night progresses, with a more established clientele in the dinner hours but transitioning to a young professional crowd later in the evening."

  • "Usually a great experience. This time however, I requested a window seat in advance. Called back & was told they have a large party & that they couldn't accommodate my request. O.K. Understood. When we get there we are shown our table in a dimly lit corner of their Veranda. Literally 3 feet away from us is a open window seat for 2 as I requested. I ask can we move to this table. Was told "No". No explanation. Ask the hostess & reminded her that I asked in advance for a window seat. She tells me. That that table isn't a window seat but an Atrium Seat. Hello, it's next to a window which is what I asked for. Anyway she gave it to us. Bad vibes."

  • "Friendly service. We were seated at the reservation time we set up with no wait. Had Delicious steak. Giant catfish. And scallop spinach salad. Expect to spend about $40 for entree. Worth it. Valet is free and it's kind of an awkward turn in from Arroyo Parkway. Piano at bar plays lively music. Bar has some amazing exotic drinks. Real mixology stuff!"

  • "Wonderful dining experience! I have never been disappointed in my food choices or service. Our waiter was pleasant and our meal was delivered in a timely fashion. I did notice that the staff was working very hard, rushing to tables. I will look forward to future dining at the Parkway Grill."

  • "Food was quite good and reasonably priced...wine choices were strong and in general less expensive that I expected ...professional and thoughtful service. Only compromise I felt was in the quality of desserts, otherwise a very comfortable dining experience across the board."

  • "This place I choose due to the note which said "you can have a conversation" and that was true. I found all other elements spectacular. the waiter seemed to sense it was a meeting and did not interrupt. the food once ordered was great. truly a gem."
