Diner Reviews
  • "You can depend on great food, in a beautiful restaurant. It you want a lobster club sandwich for lunch - which is fabulous - you need to go on Wednesday or Friday!"

  • "Parkway Grill has a lovely traditional atmosphere with live piano. It makes a wonderful option for special occasions. The food was delicious and there was great service."

  • "We received excellent service and the restaurant was gorgeous, but we found the food lacking. We celebrated our wedding anniversary here and left a note in the reservation. Our table had a card waiting and my wife was presented with orchids and dessert which impressed us beyond belief. The service staff was attentive, quick and courteous. The food was beautiful, but under-seasoned across the board. I want to rate then much higher due to the many positives, but ultimately a restaurant is made or broken by the flavor of its food and we found the flavors lacking."

  • "The old staple Parkway grill has become boring and stale. The ambiance is in need of a face lift. The food is uninteresting and so so and not to the level of comparably priced restaurants. The service was adequate but the server was just going through the motions and not engaging or interested in being there."

  • "I was very pleasantly surprised by this lunch spot for a business meeting lunch. From when I made the reservation they sought to be sure that my event went off without a hitch. The room, the ambience, the food, the service, feeling welcome and even interfacing with other guests in a positive way. This is a Gem!!! I travel to lots of cities and this is a near perfect spot. Also in speaking with the wait staff many have been there for 15+ years (a great sign for customers). Also the ~bar area was classic scene too. East meets West scene...."

  • "Friendly staff, great service, never had a bad meal there. Can never get my fill, at the Parkway Grill."

  • "We don't live nearby, but have eaten there 3-4 times over the years. It was outstanding, and we wouldn't hesitate to take the 45 minute drive Everything from the friendly feeling, service, food, wine, was superb. Thank you!"

  • "What a fun evening! Four of us - every entree salad and appetizer was delicious and enjoyed by all. We had a lovely bottle of wine and it was a super evening. Well worth the expenditure. Highly recommend"

  • "I am a parkway fan. Eat there often. Love several dishes they offer. A little in insistent in texture of some foods but always love it. Older crowd but great bar and piano music."

  • "My wife and I made reservations for dinner at this restaurant to celebrate our 3-year wedding anniversary. In our online reservation we requested a high chair for our two-year old daughter and mentioned that we were celebrating a special occasion. Now, we were not expecting fireworks but the staff did not acknowledge either thing we mentioned/requested. This is in contrast to the neighboring Arroyo Chophouse (where we celebrated our 2-year wedding anniversary) where the table awaited us with a congratulatory card and complimentary flowers. I joked to my wife that we could have asked for anything because the staff probably didn't even read the requests we wrote. Aside from that, the food was decent and the table service was excellent."

  • "Parkway continues to be an exquisite restaurant particularly for spcecial occasions with its "tailored" service, beautiful ambience and soft piano. The crab cake appetizer . . . Best In Town! Truly an award winning experience."

  • "I have been going to the Parkway for many years, and it never fails to deliver a good meal, with good service in a nice environment. Well done."

  • "This was our third time to Parkway Grill - we enjoyed our food more the first two times, but our meal this go around was also good-to-very-good. The odd part was our server. We didn't order the fancy water and she then seemed annoyed at us all night (though we ordered cocktails, appetizers, a suite of entrees and desserts). We often eat at fine restaurants in Pasadena and elsewhere, and this experience left us feeling less than good about dropping $350+ for our special occasion. We will probably give Parkway Grill another shot, but if we don't have a great experience, there are many other fantastic places to eat."

  • "Went on Father's Day. No kid's choices, even on a family holiday like this. Service was slow but only bc they were understaffed. My husband ordered his meat medium well. I ordered medium rare. Both came out well done. I ordered my 2 yr old a plain cheese flatbread pizza at the suggestion of the waitress. She said it would be no problem to make. Apparently it was. Instead he got a margherita pizza. The edges were black/burned and broken in areas as if someone tried to break off the really burned portions. I ended up having to pick off the tomatoes & basil bc he wanted a cheese not "tomato" pizza. The appetizers were burned. They took things off the bill, but still not great. Wait and kitchen staff were working hard, but clearly understaffed."

  • "Everything was perfection from the lime basil martini that we started out with to the entire meal. Waiter was attentive, as well as the rest of the staff. I recommend the house flat bread, always!"

  • "We have been here multiple times and had excellent food each and every time. Service is attentive and timely. Even on a hugely busy Father's Day weekend night, we had no lack for prompt and helpful service. I was very pleased to be seated at a side table, as the place was abuzz with loads of celebratory parties. Thank you Parkway Grill for honoring my seating request. I had the pleasure of enjoying an excellent Pinto Gris wine, that came by the glass. The scallops were divine and the appetizers all sounded delicious. The sauces are creative without being ridiculously over the top. Presentations are tastefullly done. Yummy chocolate lava cake. Bravo!"

  • "Due to to few servers. We were not in a hurry during our visits but for a business lunch, I would be a little leary to use the Parkway Grill. The leisurely lunch & un rushed atmosphere at the table is a plus for a business meeting and may work out better for a business lunch meeting. It is also a nice touch to give the ladies flowers on special occasions. IE: Birthdays."

  • "This is my second visit at Parkway Grill and the food is exceptional. The environment was great with the perfect lighting. The only downside was our server was not too attentive to us and very quiet. Other than that, it was a perfect evening. They have a wonderful Basil Martini that must be ordered when you go there."

  • "We ate here for the first time, and we're really disappointed. The service was slow. It took our server 10 minutes to get our drink order. They never returned to ask if we wanted a second. The meal was ok. My wife ordered the catfish. The presentation was not appealing and the fish was basically not edible. My short ribs were half fat. Nice decor, but not a place we'll return too."

  • "We have eaten there before and it was great would of given it a four. However, this time I eat same thing as I ordered before but food had little favor , it was loud and we felt neglected . Took my mom as a special night out. She had a salad and again she did not enjoy it. Left most of our food on plate."

  • "A great place to have a fine meal or just a couple drinks and appetizers. THe Jazz on Friday was a great addition, thank you so much Nasario (sp?) he is a great cordial and knowlegeble bartender. Had a great time."

  • "We have eaten all over the US, and do not exaggerate when we say this about the best we've ever had. We had lamb lollipops and shrimp corn dogs as appetizers, and the entrees were also fantastic. The best part was Manny's service; absolutely great! We even returned the next night, which we never do, and we were treated like royalty by Jose; he was also fantastic, and knew what we liked. If you are ever in Pasadena, DO NOT miss dinner here!!!!"

  • "We weren't as happy this time as we have been. The steak, for the price, was fair. Our waitress was not very attentive. It's to bad because we really liked it the last few times we we here."

  • "The dining experience was excellent. We got a nice corner spot and away from any foot traffic and the ambient noise was not bad. We started out with the bacon wrapped dates which were very well prepared and the accompanying brussels sprouts were not bitter. Bean soup was well prepared and presented, the salad was presented well enough but not very complicated. My short ribs, which melted on the fork, had an excellent sauce. The others had filet or new york, but I would go to Arroyo Chop House for them. Dark chocolate cannoli was scooped up for its butterscotch custard filling. Overall, an excellent dining experience. Good wine list, but I would say the mark up was a bit high. "

  • "Every now and then I treat myself to a special dinner at Parkway Grill, because the food is so good, the special treatment I get from the service staff, the warm friendly ambiance always makes me so glad to be there. It is very comforting to know that I can rely on that consistency. You are simply my favorite restaurant in Pasadena. And since I eat dinner out 99% of the time, and nearly always in Pasadena, that is a real compliment!"

  • "Wonderful, quiet, well trained waitstaff, good food. A tribute to experienced restauranteurs who know the proper elements to maintain their reputation for excellence. Thank you for a memorable dining experience, sans ear-blasting music and loud noise. James, our waiter, is almost perfect: patient, experienced, polite. "

  • "I was disappointed with my last experience dining here. My Chilean sea bass came out cold including my sides. I had to send it back. The manager did not come to apologize or make things better. "

  • "We treated ourselves to lunch at Parkway, and we both had their specials, seabass and the pork chop, both were outstanding. Service is always good, and it seems to be a popular place with locals. The management here seems to be dedicated to being a top notch restaurant in every way."

  • "Parkway Grill is great no matter what time you eat there but it shines as an elegant, easy to get to destination for a business lunch where fabulous food, impeccable service and a great setting where you can hold a conversation without resorting to shouting are all the order of the day. Less than 20 min from downtown LA, it's the perfect place to "meet in the middle" and it includes free valet parking (tips appreciated of course!). "

  • "The Parkway is by far our favorite restaurant in all respects. We love 'dining' in the atrium. The atmosphere is lovely and it is a peaceful retreat from a hectic week. It is quiet enough that we can enjoy our conversation without feeling like we are competing with everyone/everything else around us. The food is always scrumptious and the service is responsive to our request to take it slow so we can unwind before the main course comes out. It was perfect for our special Mother's Day treat!"

  • "Sunday Night B-day Celebration: Food And Service were Divine. We had the fried cat fish (Good (not great) - Don't get me wrong... we cleaned the plate LOL), Scallops (DIVINE), Lamb Chops (Divine), Pork Chops (Divined), Nice that you could hear your party have a conversation [A PLUS] They even had a B-day Card, and Flowers for me (So Sweet). Unfortunately we missed the live music...[ not available on Sundays ;-( ] they only have it during the week. We will definitely go again... M-Sat. HIGHLY RECOMMEND GOING"
